American Idol Top 4 Idol Chatter and Idle Chatter

I was in Disney World last year during the finale' and my TIVO wiped it off the menu by the time I got back home, so I never saw it. I was glad that David Cook won last year!

My question is, Are the finale' shows ALWAYS THIS GOOD!?!? WOW! It was quite a concert of major stars!! Rod Stewart; KISS; Cyndi Lauper; Queen Latifah; etc. I LOVED the finale' at the end; Queen members, plus Adam and Kris, and the rest.

DH and I waited ALL SEASON to hear Adam sing Queen. (I think I read that he did a Queen song earlier this season, but we must've missed that week! ). He has the same range that Freddie Mercury had. AWESOME! QUEEN can go back on tour, with Adam as their new lead singer!!!


DH hates Adam; I think Kris is nothing special. I love Adam except when he overdoes it with the screaming. I would rather have seen Adam win, but I think he'll do just fine anyway.

Kara is far from a bad songwriter.

I have seen her list of credits. All those songs and only ONE I like. And she was one of something like 10 people who co-wrote the song.

I don't think they had to rig it. IMO Adam lost because he was gay. I don't want to be flamed or anything, and I am not gay myself, but I think that some people (and I am not talking about the people here AT ALL) have a prejudice that limits their ability to see beyond the black eyeliner and stuff on a guy and actually listen to his voice. Many people can do it, but I believe there are still many people that won't.

I disagree. I think Adam lost because his style is very NOT mainstream. I agree that he's talented, but I don't enjoy listening to him. I think of him being in, like, an 80's style glam rock band...or on stage in Rocky Horror Picture Show. I acknowledge his talent, but dislike his style and voice immensely. And Kris probably DID pick up lots of Danny's voters.

ETA: Earlier today, I voted in the DISboards AI poll. Kris was winning, just barely, all morning. Unless it changed after I left for the day, the Disers got it right.

I don't think he lost because of it, but he did loose some vote because of it. It was such a talked issue and the media made such an issue of it that I'm sure it did have some affect. Now wether it would have been enough to decide the contest, we'll never know. I do feel sorry for Kris because I think he knew that there was some controversy around it all and he was possibly gaining votes because of it and did not want it to be about sexual oriantation, church (christian/non christian) or anything other than talent and singing. Now he will always wonder if it made him win and I hate that cloud being put over his win.

You know the media will be all over it tomorrow. Lets hope Adam doesn't allow him to feel defeated because of it and I just hope he know how loved he is.

Other than Adam losing, this was the best finale of all. I really liked everything they put together and thought it was very entertaining. I loved the duet with Adam and Kris at the end.

I honestly don't think that those type of haters would watch a show like Idol or vote...of course they might vote because "so and so" told them to.

To me I am pretty confidant that he didn't lose because he was gay. It was that he wasn't mainstream enough for everyone.

At least for me, someone's sexuality would never come into play on a talent competition like this.

He appeals to those that like his particular type of music. I always said I didn't think he was mainstream enough but others here kept telling me he was. It is so hard do say what happened, it is hard to try and figure out why someone who had what seemed to be a huge fan base could lose...but maybe that fan base just didn't vote

That's exactly how I feel! I don't want Adam to feel like he doesn't have many fans since he came in second (even though I know it's ridiculous to think that). I hope all the albums he sells proves to him how much people love him.

I am very disappointed, but not surprised. Adam was by far the superior singer of the two. Like a previous poster said, it is like season 2 all over again.

I don't think there is anything that Adam can't sing!! He will still be a hugh star, and I am sure his first album will trounce Kris's!!

In the long run he might be better off, he will probably have more control on his career, then if he had one.

Rocky Horror's been my absolute favorite movie since I was, like, 3. No joke. My friends and I have seen it at midnight in the village a ridiculous amount of times. Adam in Rocky Horror? I'd TOTALLY take it!

There's really a huge difference between the two contestants. I'm into classic rock, the Killers, guy-liner, Rocky Horror, offbeat Broadway shows, and my friends and I go to gay clubs to party with the queens I'm into really creative, unique, slightly offbeat things that are totally out of the mainstream.

My friends who like Kris are into Britney Spears, watch endless episodes of The Hills, and think Justin Timberlake is worthy of an Academy Award.

Nothing wrong with either one, they're just VERY different!

Adam and Kris have become such close friends that I think that he is truly happy that his friend is getting a shot at his dream. At least I'm sappy that way

I can actually picture/hear Adam doing stuff like Staind, Shinedown, Hinder, Three Doors Down, more rock with a pop edge. That is pretty big right now. Also, if you listen to his studio recordings, the big notes were not as promenant as in his live versions. But that is fairly typical of how artists make the live stuff interesting and different.

Believe me, I too. They're not good friends of mine, just people I'm friendly with from school. We're very different people

It's not even that Kris is gonna be releasing mainstream bubble gum pop, but they're the kind of people who were scared off my someone like Adam. A lot of people don't like people who are "different," and they like them even less when these people are completely comfortable with who they are.

I loved Rocky Horror. When I saw it for the first time, I wondered what the heck was going on with all the people dressed up singing and dancing along with the movie. It was great! Adam would be terrific as the star.

I could also see him in a band like Kiss. Kiss was the first concert I ever saw. Adam would fit right in. But I think Adam is going to do his own thing and I can't wait to see what he does.

I agree. I think Kris needed to win where as Adam will be a huge star no matter what. If you watch some of Adam's videos on Youtube, you will see what a range he has-he's really wonderful!

OMG! How cool was that?? Adam and KISS on stage together, bringing the place down!!! Adam is the best talent AI has ever had, even the judges know it...now that he isn't tied down with an AI contact, he will go on and be a STAR! Kris can sing that sappy mountain and hurricane song while Adam sells out concert arenas

Seriously, a huge part of me is glad Adam didn't win. Dont' get me wrong I LOVE Adam and he is wicked good, he has incredible talent, out of this world stage presence, but after watching him sing with KISS...I realized he is WAY too good for AI.

I didn't want to see him stuck in a sappy AI contact and have to put out sappy music. Now he can stay true to himself and not have to change for AI.

I know major superstars are already knocking on his door. I can easily see Adam going on tour as an opener for a major musican!
