Based on tonight's performances, I think we should just head straight to the FINALE- Crystal Bowersox versus Big Mike

What I think is HYSTERICAL is that it seems like almost every single one of these contestants act SURPRISED when given the weekly themes. Sheesh, folks, if not just in your performing life in general at least start doing your HOMEWORK when you make it to Hollywood week! KNOW the Billboard Top whatever, have some charts ready to go for various genres like...oh I DON'T KNOW, maybe THE BEATLES? or the Rolling Stones, Motown groups, girl groups (marvelletes, Supremes), boy bands (New Kids, etc.), musicals... KNOW what keys are your best, KNOW where you break is, KNOW what your range is, be willing to go ouside your comfort zone, LISTEN to the judges and tweak your performances be familiar with all types of genres - country, gospel rap, blues, musicals, Motown. DON'T be a musical ignoramus - be familliar with Frank Sinatra, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Tony Bennett, Albertina Walker, the ENTIRE Winans clan, Eddy Arnold, Lady Antebellum, Les Paul and so on.

just got finished watching...I am just amazed by song choice....wow! I did like Crysal, Casey and Lee....
my girls enjoyed seeing Miley (they are 7 and 5) I am wondering what the contestants really thought when they saw who it was.

Well, Miley did better then I thought she would. She at least tried to give them some suggestions vs just gushing all over them like past mentors.

First green rating on Dial Idol this year--the rest have all been voted off

She seems like a nice girl but I thought the mentoring time seemed rushed, like they were hurrying all the contestants through. Maybe it's always been that way, that each person only gets maybe 5 or 10 minutes? And I had always gotten the impression from previous mentors that it took place before the day of the competition but this week it sure seemed to take place yesterday. Not sure 'mentoring' can be done the day of the competition...

And yeah, the gushing mentors just strike me as a waste of time, but many performers are just that, performers, and they don't really know how to teach or how to codify their expertise.

Oh, my vote for worst mentor of all time? Kenny Rogers, what a WASTE of time.

My vote for BEST mentor goes to at least two celebrities - Barry Manilow and I think the other one was Rod Stewart? (at least I think that's who it was...I neeeeed more coffee this morning).

Barry Manilow was BRILLIANT in his critiques and advice, you could tell he was taking a lot of time with the contestants.

I haven't watched last night's show (Lost takes precedence for me), but I am aware of some of the songs sang and what wasn't said for one of them. How can you do a Boxtops hit and not mention the recent death of Boxtops lead singer Alex Chilton?

I had to work late and just got caught up with the DVR. I fast forwarded thru all the Miley Cyrus stuff and the judges comments, so this is my unbiased opinion.

1. Crystal - she is a one-trick pony, but it's a heck of a trick
2. Casey - eye candy and easy on the ears
3. Aaron - surprisingly good
4. Lee - solid and enjoyable
5. Siobahn - she's an odd one, but I find myself looking forward to see what she is going to do. NOT a fan of the screech though.
6. Mike - He sang well but it felt very overdone to me. He seemed cocky?
7. Tim - Poor Tim. I like him but he's clueless.
8. Andrew - I didn't hate it, but he should have put a latin flavor on the song.
9. Didi - Between her facial expressions and the annoying song, I had to fast forward thru this one.
10. Katie - Unplug your nose, for goodness sake.
11. Paige - OMG that was awful.

1. Crystal - I remember Janis singing this song, I was catapulted back to the 60s, wow. She's the same every week but the only good same going.

2. Casey - Sounded TOO MUCH like the original but I still LOVE him!

3. Aaron - Cutesie but in my mind, forgettable

4. Lee - Better and more comfortable last night, still kind of turns me off.

5. Siobahn - She is unique, not sure if it's in a REAL GOOD way, but I like something about her, she's DIFFERENT and I like different.

6. Mike - He's no where NEAR as good as the judges and HE thinks he is.

7. Tim - I like Tim . I like Tim shirtless . I don't like Tim sliding across the stage...

8. Andrew - OmG, words cannot describe the heebies and the jeebies this creepy guy gives me. He needs to be sent STRAIGHT UP back to the barrio...

9. Didi - I find her face and expressions so unbelievably unattractive I can't even WATCH her. She needs to go.

10. Katie - 2 Words.... MOM JEANS . She looks like a DISer with 3 kids in kindergarten. I couldn't imagine her hanging out with Miley, my son or any other 17yo I know...

11. Paige - It's almost as if she gave the other losers a free pass to be on the AI EMPTY SEAT TOUR (which will be the LOGO)

I'm pretty much the same, except I put Lee above Aaron and equal with Casey...but both Lee and Casey AND Crystal and Soibhan are dangerously close to the one trick pony curse. Aaron, something about him that distracts me, like how Archie had that breathing thing? Not exactly that issue, but something....DiDi...her future is doing covers of Corienne Baily Rae. The rest...outta here. It is so painfully ( literally) obvious that Paige should go home, it would not shock me if she DOES stay, you know how wacky this show can get.

I didn't read through all the posts from last night but my favorite of the evening was Crystal, followed by Siobhan and Casey. I didn't hear Tim or Aaron (isn't he the youngster?) so I can't comment on them but the rest can go ahead and leave.
