American Idol Top 20 Season 9

I stayed away from this thread, since I had fallen two weeks behind. Finally caught up last night and from the sense of what I've read the past few pages, a lot of you have the same reaction I did. This season is going to really suck. I think it's about time Idol took the voting out of the hands of the teeny boppers who have no clue and put it into a better musically educated public. I couldn't believe they liked the young male contestant (see, I can't even remember his name. Oh right, just checked Wiki, Aaron Kelly)). I thought his performance out and out sucked. And the Tom Welling look alike, Tim Urban, got lucky with one performance. I would have rather seen them both gone instead of Todrick and Alex. So what if Todrick is a bit theatrical. Adam Lambert wasn't? Can't disagree with the girls, although I would have rather seen Paige exit stage left. Unlike you guys, I liked Lily. But then again, I'm into the indie scene and I like non-mainstream stuff. But you all were right that she didn't do herself any favors with her exit speech.

So who's left to like? Mommasocks, Siobhan Big Mike and Lee. I can't get excited about anyone else. I liked Andrew, but he is letting me down with his song choices. Call me when we hit the final four. I can't stand listening until then and I sure as heck don't need to see Kara and Simon cozying up to each other.

You just saved me the trouble of typing the exact same thoughts...and if the above spoiler is right...as Randy would say 'I dunno Dawg....maybe a mistake..that song didn't work too well when *blank* tried it". She may be opening the door for her exit and THAT would really stink, as she and Momasox are the only 2 girls worth listening to for me. And Andrew...I guess if it isn't a song by a female artisit he is not going to sing it...what's he gonna do with the Rolling Stones? I liked him, I did , but been a little too stagnant. nothing new or no growth out of him.

Did you compare Adam to Toddrick???? There is WAY more to theatrical than THAT!!!

I can't get excited about ANYBODY. I like Mommasocks but no one else. I just about tolerate everyone else. Hopefully they will have their Simon touted "moment" soon and get this show on the road. I ... hope...

Lee Dewyze, the guy who looks constipated on stage but has an okay, kind of rock, vibe.

I wish they would change their voting system to something like how Dancing With The Stars does it. The first night each phone number would get 12 votes, the next week 11, and so on.

I cannot stand Lacey and Big Mike. Most I am neutral towards, but these two I want GONE. I hate her silly fake hair and his pointy head. The way she sounds when she talks and he sounds when he sings grates on me. And both seem WAY too full of themselves.

Aaron, Katie, and Paige all leave me cold. I can't believe any of them are still there. I just watched the guys episode all the way through and Aaron was PAINFULLY out of tune. WTH did the judges hear???

Andrew started out ok, now he can go anytime and I won't miss him.

I want to like Crystal. I feel like I am SUPPOSED to like Crystal. But I just don't.

On other boards a lot of people are jumping on the Sioban bandwagon and I just don't get it.

Tim and Didi have both grown on me a tiny bit. I think both did well this week.

Casey is good. I like that he's laid back, seems like a nice guy, and doesn't come off as apathetic or too cool for the whole thing like Crystal does. And I appreciate the fact that at least this week he didn't hold up the requisite number of fingers to get people to vote. That looks SO cheesy. I don't know if they are pressured to do that, but it always looks stupid!

And that leaves Lee. He is the only one I actually LIKE. The songs he picks haven't been done 1000 times on the show already. His voice is the most pleasing to my ear. I just wish he would stay in tune better and shave that THING off his chin!

...she's my 'odds on' fave too - the only thing I don't like about her is that I get the vibe that she almost doesn't care if she stays or goes....I dunno, a feeling of nonchalance almost... but I really do like her alot and think she's uber talented....

Ugh, I cannot tell you how many ways I cannot stand Big Mike. He is mediocre at best and you'd think he was the second coming. Besides he butchered Maxwell last week which should've put him on the same train as Lilly who KILLED Patsy Cline again!

Oops I forgot about Casey, I think he still has potential. Like Cougar Kara I fall off and on the Casey Train...

So, maybe for this next week's shows, let's try to post any spoilers in "Lemon Chiffon" and the slightly smaller font-size of "1" and then as always we can just highlight to read?

Sounds good to me! Personally, I don't care if spoilers are hidden, but I know everyone doesn't feel that way so I would say that is a great compromise.

And, I agree with you that this thread is about the only reason to watch this season. I mean, other than Tim (and then only with his shirt off) we don't even have any eye candy this year.
