I noticed the no-lip-licking last night and wondered the same thing!

I wondered last night what Randy and Simon had been smoking when they just kept praising him. And Simon's "you crushed the competition" comment....what????

Yes, David Cook will do very well regardless, but I would still love to see him in the finale. It would be kinda nice to have the most talented one win this time. Something that hasn't happened in a very long time.

The most talented has won AI 4 times...Rubeun, Taylor, Jordin, Carrie....they were the best in there respective seasons....I cant comment on season 1 as i didnt watch, and as much as I didnt like Fantasia she won because she was the best that season too although the talent level that season was very bad about as good as this season. If it wsnt for David Cook this season it would be as bad if not worse than the season Fantasia won....

I disagree that Taylor Hicks was more talented that Chris Daughtry or Katherine McPhee. That was a talent-packed Top 12, and Taylor Hicks had the "David Archuleta" factor going for him: Popularity rather than recording artist qualities.

I disagree...to me Taylor was the best that season...Did i think Chris was good sure, as was Kat....but Taylor wow'd me so much more than those 3....I have also seen Taylor in concert and he was great. Its all relative....I also make no comparison to Taylor and DA...Taylor is head and tails above DA....DA is getting the little girl popular, mommy can i stay up and vote a million times vote....Taylor did not get the same vote

Well can't say I was surprised to see Jason go.
I think he was relieved to tell you the truth. I actually think he sung I shot the Sheriff better last night then he did the previous night.

I agree that Jason looked relieved and downright giddy almost to be leaving. I think the AI thing just got too big for him, and he admitted his inexperience showed.

No surprise with the results show tonight. Goodbye Jason, I'll miss you but it was your time.

Yippee! No parade tomorrow! The mayor wanted to have our two high school bands march and perform in a parade tomorrow if Jason made the top three. What a hassle with only two days notice. He apparently never had a child in a band program. He doesn't realize that it's been months since they have played a stand tune and need more than a day to practice to do it well.

I have never watched AI but someone sent me a YouTube video of David Cook singing Baba O'Riley (I love The Who ) the other night and it gave me chills...that boy can flat out sing and his rendition of that song was amazing...here's the link if anyone wants to hear it again.

oooh, I wouldn't use the charts as a measure of talent (which is what Dan was talking about - talent and his opinion of what makes a person talented.) The charts are, obviously, a fine indicator of who has the ability to sell records, but talent? I don't know....

Clay is more talented than Rubeun. Melinda is more talented than Jordin.
That's my perspective anyway.

David A. will probably win this season...but I think David Cook has more talent, overall.

I agree if you're talking about marketability, but not if the discussion is about who is most talented.

I find the discussions about who is most talented really interesting, but you've got to be careful because some folks are passionate about their choices.

For example personally I think Elliott Yamin has been one of the most talented performers on the show technically.
But I absolutely understand that even when trying to look at talent objectively not everyone agrees with me.

Then when you bring in the subjective stuff and people start considering musical style, personality, hotness factor (admit it - it's big on AI) I know there's no way Elliott even makes it into the top 5 or even 10 for most folks.

I agree with everything you said. I think it was definitely his time to go but I will miss him - you never knew what was going to come out of his mouth. The exchange between him & ALW when he learned "Memory" was sung by a cat was hilarious!
