American Idol Thread

No surprise tonight, thankfully. I just think, as Simon said, it was her time to go. I ALWAYS am thinking what Simon winds up saying. I was nervouse that Carly might be out. Poor KLC though...I REALLY hope she gets her horse back now that it's over for her.

Maybe Simon will buy the horse back for her. Although Ryan seemed more upset than Kristy did!!!

KLC has been on borrowed time for weeks, and I think she realized it. I admire her for having to handle the criticism from the Internet and the judges week in and week out and I do think she is the most improved. That being said, I am not a KLC fan though and glad to see her go.

I think the bigger shock for me tonight was that Sayesha placed higher than Brooke.

my same thoughts.

can't believe syesha has a pass this week again.

I think part of this is vote splitting. I think there are perhaps other singers that Brooke fans like better. I know I set DialIdol up to keep her, David C and Carly safe. Brooke got all of my votes, but that's because DialIdol is sophisticated that way -- it keeps track of who it thinks needs my votes most, and then directs the calls that way. Splitting your vote evenly among three is disadvantageous to the least favorite of those three.

I was so shocked that Syesha was safe!! and not even in the bottom 3:confused3 :confused3 I really really hate when they try to make someone pick who they think is safe

This is probably a dumb question.... but why can't AI get more phone lines? It is extremely frustrating to call for 2 hours and only get in a half dozen times. :headache:

The week MJ left, my sister called for an hour and only got in once for him - but he went home. :confused3

I got in 3 times in an hour.. got the recording that all circuits were busy over and over.... I guess because of ALL those Syesha votes???

I'm not sure how much benefit extra phone lines would bring. If they were really aiming to get a feel for how many people liked a specific singer, they'd have a way that limited folks to one vote each (such as registering by telephone number, and limiting votes to one per incoming telephone -- not 100% but close). With the "vote as often as you wish" policy, they're simply gauging which singers have the most rabidly devoted following, and a rabidly devoted following would work around the busy-signals.

I'm so glad KLC is gone!!!! She was a bit arrogant. Did she say Simon was butthead last night? That's what it sounded like to me.

I was sorry to see Kristy go last night. I thought she's done very well with her last 4 songs. Thought it was neat how she started singing last night by sitting on the table right in front of Simon. I do hope she gets a recording contract with a country label, and that she gets her horse back!!

I had hoped Syesha would go before Kristy, darn it.

Loved seeing Elliott Yamin again, and so sad about his Mother. :(

Anyone else think Carly should have covered her tatoos? I thought they looked out of place with a dress like that. Or she should have chosen another outfit.

So, next week is Andrew Lloyd Webber songs, so they'll all be singing Broadway stuff? Should be "interesting."

Being a big David Cook fan, I am really excited about next week. He will run circles around the competition with those songs! (Carly should do well too).

I worry about Jason Castro and Brooke though because I have a hard time seeing them do well with those songs.

And if David A. sings Music of the NIght, I am going to (insert our favorite gagging smiley here).

I agree about David A...you know he will sing something like that.

What do you think David Cook will sing? I was honestly nervous hearing it was ALW night...

FTR, I think most of the themes this year stink. It's like the well is running dry.

I was glad to see Kristy go last night --- although she should have went BEFORE Michael Johns (still mad about that ;) )

But she is gone :thumbsup2

Now it is time for Seyesha to go.

Next week Andrew Lloyd Weber :thumbsup2 I love broadway type music. I am looking forward to it. I think Seyesha might do well enough to save herself another week.

Brooke I worry about though. I don't know how well she will do next week. I know Brooke isn't the best singer this season (I will save that spot for David Cook! :worship: ) but there is something about Brooke that I just enjoy.

If David Cook picks the right song he should do great next week.

I don't know, I think Jason could put a great spin on Any Dream Will Do, from Joseph.

I'm sure there are youtube videos out there floating around of David A singing some Broadway type songs...any bets as to the one he'll "pick"?

Which translated means, he's been groomed for this for at least 4-5 years by his Daddy for this and he doesn't just pick songs. He's sung them before.

Though I did find it interesting that his father was not in the audience last night. ;)

My guess on what David A is going to sing? Well, from perusing the videos of him on youtube, I'll guess something from Wicked. ;)

I could see Brooke singing the theme song from Beauty and the Beast, but I guess that doesn't count, does it?

When I call with my cell phone, I only get 1 answer out of about 15 tries. I can get in with my land line all the time. I only vote for David Cook though. I live in an area which has great fiber optic capacity so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
