And "Songs Around the World"? I wonder what would qualify...Rolling Stones/Beatles (Great Britain)...oh wait...they already did that. Hey, maybe they could do some ABBA songs...

Maybe it's songs that have something to do with different locations? (Like I Left My heart in San Francisco" or "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"...)

Ooooooo, they could do something from "Sweeney Todd" or "Mary Poppins" (because they both take place in London) or someone could do something from "Aida" (written by an Italian, takes place in Egypt).

Hey kimmar...doing good...my oldest made the baseball team this year...1st year he could try out...doing good...they asked him to finish season on JV...we told them no as we had already committed to a travel team...so we have been in full baseball mode since feb...My youngest is 9 and is playing up an age on a 10u travel team...so its been crazy here...

I guess thats more than what you really wanted to know....

I couldn't muster up the strength to watch the show last night. I'm planning on buzzing thru the performances today. I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record but I hate what has happened to this show! ugh.


And dolphindan1, nice to "see" you again! I don't mind Ellen. I hate Kara. She just likes the sound of her own voice. Never thought I'd say it but boy do I miss Paula!

What is everyones thoughts on Ellen as a judge...I havent read this whole thread so i was just curious...

My thoughts...I actually like her...I like Ellen in general...I find her amusing. As a judge I like her better than Kara. It wouldnt hurt my feelings to see Kara go.

Has anyone else noticed that whatever Randy's opinion is, Ellen kinda says the same thing? Yeah, sure, she adds her own little comic relief, but as far as her judges' opinion goes, it's just Randy's in "Ellen-speak". I enjoy her, but not as a music critic.

I remember them taking pictures like this on America's Next Top Model, really hard to get the pose just right in water. His is flawless!

I remember the photoshoot on ANTM, too! I think only 2 or 3 girls were able to get it right. I like Jason's photo a lot, very cool

About the bagpiper, DH's first response was "Hey, Off-Kilter doing American Idol!" I used to think he was WDW tolerant, but lately I've noticed a few WDW references sneaking into his vocabulary.

Maybe Fantasia wanted all the attention and Crystal does not. Besides being single mom's do they have anything else in common? Did Fantasia graduate high school, did Crystal? Maybe Fantasia had a hard luck story and Crystal doesn't.

It's rarely the contestant's choice as to how they're depicted. They have entire staffs to make the "script" and the PR work. Each contestant has a "story" and they play upon it for drama. It amazes me when people blame a contestant for their "story" when it's usually the idea of some suit who thought "America" would love to tune in to see it.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. David Cook's story worked, Danny Gokey's backfired. Personally I'd rather just hear them sing.
