I thought last night's show was great...really entertaining. A nice change from last week's show.
Phil- I agree with those that say he's hard to watch. When he has the mike in front of his mouth and all you see are his eyes and bald head....it's just kind of freaky. I think he has a good voice and I do like him (mostly because of his back story), but he doesn't really do anything for me. I liked his song last night and I think he did ok. Don't think he's going anywhere.
Jared - I think he can sing fairly well. But I think he's way too into himself. A big turn off for me. I think he way overperformed.
A.J. - I thought his song choice was good actually. I didn't know the song, but I liked it and it allowed us to see how good he really is in terms of singing. But like others, there's something about him that bothers me and he's just way too peppy. I think he'd be great on Broadway. I think he might be going home though because he doesn't have the backstory to push him like others.
Sanjaya - Bad. The boy is so nervous. The song definitely didn't show his voice off. He should definitely be going home. Not sure that he will though.
Chris S. - I love this guy. He has such a unique and great voice. I found his band's website yesterday and listened to their stuff on myspace. I really liked their sound. And Chris wrote the songs too. Anyway...the song I found to be pretty boring, but he sang it well and he won't be going anytime soon. I agree with the poster that said once he finds the right song, he'll blow everyone away.
Nick -I'm really surprised that so many said that they don't think Nick can sing well. I think he has a great voice and I love his tone. But Simon was right on. He just doesn't have that spark. Pretty much any of the top 24 could make an album and sound good...even great. But American Idol is about the whole package...about having something special about you that makes people vote for you. Nick, unfortunately, doesn't have that. And I don't think he ever will.
Blake - I saw the hat before he performed and I groaned. Hate the hat. He's so cute and has great hair. He needs to lose the hat. He looked so good last week. Anyway...I loved his performance. Loved the song (loved the song last week too). I loved that he did his beatbox and scat thing a tiny bit. He is so talented in my opinion. And he definitely has that spark.
Brandon - Beautiful man. I liked the song and thought that he sang it well. But he really needs to show his stuff off and so far he hasn't done that. If he's given another chance, he needs to come out and really do something great. I thought he took the criticism well.
Chris R. - Count me as someone else that was shocked that all 3 judges thought he did great. I think it was a good song for him and I think he's talented, but I'm not a huge fan of him. I really didn't think the judges were going to like his performance.
Sundance - I knew from the moment he started to sing that he was going to bring it. Good for you Sundance! I don't like the song either, but it was a great choice for him last night. The boy can sing. Such a difference from last week.
Best performance of the night:
Blake
Who I'd like to see go:
Sanjaya and Nick
Who I think will go:
Nick and A.J.
My husband and I were watching together and I kept saying, "Can we just skip over Randy and Paula each time?" It's painful to listen to them say the same stupid stuff...especially Paula because the girl just sounds sooooo stupid when she opens her mouth. Simon is the only one I care to listen to. I thought he was a jerk to Brandon though. The whole bit about "my mum's birthday is in November". I thought that was uncalled for.
Can't wait for tonight...although I always prefer to watch the guys do their thing

IF they perform well, that is.
