American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread

The older teeny boppers will like those 2, but the really young teeny boppers (I'm talking 10-12 year olds here) LOVE Sanjaya. Unfortunately, that is.

well that age group should be in bed on a school night at this hour and if they were up they better not be all over the phone....I know my 10 year old son is in bed at 8:30 every school night[/QUOTE]

My girls are in bed at 8:30 but we are central time so they still can vote... on their way up... grabbed the phone before they got to Sanjaya.

We voted for Chris, Chris, and Blake.

My 7 year old watches with me every night (she also watched that Game show after it tonight) and she didn't like Sanjaya either, she said he is "creepy looking". She was on the phone voting for blake!

That show was pretty good....I didnt know half the answers...I went to a major university too....

Vegas odds have Sanjaya's HAIR winning AI.....

I hope the boy goes home NOW!

just dropped Brandon about 50 votes....1st time I have ever voted....wife asked why I voted for him when I liked Chris S....I said well I know Chris is safe and Brandon should not be off this show yet....I guess i did all I can do....got a few busy signals....probably not enought to keep him

You are referring to Josh Gracin....we saw him and met him at concert....wonderful person....I agree with you about the voting system too....Sanjaya needs to go home...as do AJ or Nick

Josh Gracin was actually Season 2, when Ruben won. Carrie won season 4.

I thought Blake was GREAT tonight!!! :thumbsup2 He looked kind of cute tonight too ;)

I also like Chris S, Sundance and Philip

I am ready for Nick to go home.

I hope the girls do good tomorrow. I am looking forward to hearing Melinda, Lakesha (sp?) and Jordin again. PLEASE PLEASE don't let 'what's her name' butcher another classic song!!!!! :rolleyes1

Had to work tonight...so here's my rundown...Hopefully I'll respond to some other comments when I read through the thread (sorry if my statements are repeating anyone else's).

Phil Stacey - Missing You - I, for some strange reason, really like the song. But I can't get the image of Bat Boy (that Weekly World News thing someone posted this week) out of my head. I guess he was alright, but I agree with Simon that there's nothing really special with his voice.

Jared Cotter - Let's Get It On - Sorry, ladies, but I didn't like that. It's tough for me to not hear karaoke when I hear anyone singing that song other than Marvin Gaye.

AJ Tabaldo - Feeling Good - Hated the beginning, but I was kinda liking it by the end. Still, AJ's theatrics are a little over the top for me.

Sanjaya Malakar - Steppin' Out With My Baby - Why is he channeling Michael Jackson? I think he looks kinda scared onstage (although in all honesty, Carrie Underwood did too at this stage). Overall, though, the song choice was awful and showed no range and the range it showed at the end, his voice wavered and faltered on at the end. Yuck! [Side Note: He even sounds like MJ during the interview at the end.]

Chris Sligh - Trouble - Where did Chris find his wife? 'Cause I'd like one of those ;). Love that Chris is choosing these offbeat songs (this one by Ray Lamontagne). I really like Chris. Definitely my favorite guy.

Nick Pedro - Fever - I actually like Nick's voice...liked it last week...like it this week. I know he's not gonna make it far, but I like the tone of his voice. What is it, though, with people getting ahead of the music?

Blake Lewis - Virtual Insanity - Love the song choice of Jamiroquoi! Loved his song choice of Keane last week. Liked the performance...even the beatboxing. Didn't love it, though. But, I do think the beat boxing is gonna get old quick! I will agree with Simon that the end was out of tune - that last falsetto note wasn't in tune (or it cracked a little at the end).

Brandon Rogers - Time after Time - Love this song. The late Eva Cassidy's version of this is possibly my favorite song ever. I'd take Nadia Turner's wacky wild reggae version of this song (which I didn't really like) over Brandon's. (Speaking of Nadia Turner...she was my favorite Idol that season...where did she go?) Anyway - not impressive. (Sorry, dolphindan...read that you liked it) Don't need to say anything else.

Chris Richardson - Geek in the Pink - Kinda pitchy. Chris has done nothing to impress me. I mean, I think he's alright...kinda hip and now which is good. Enjoying that some of these guys are picking more modern songs. But, I don't really like him. Totally not the best of the night, though, Simon.

Sundance Head - Mustang Sally - Hey, at least the backup singers got to sing this week! Sundance was pretty good...but I honestly just don't really like him. There was nothing wrong with it, but it wasn't really my cup o' tea. Kinda reminds me of Bo Bice (and I didn't like him either).

My favorites this week
Chris Sligh
Blake Lewis (whoda thunk I'd like this guy two weeks in a row!)

Who I think should go
Sanjaya Malakar (Just plain scary)
Jared Cotter (liked him in the auditions, but hasn't impressed at all now)

Who I think is going home
Nick Pedro
Brandon Rogers

I guess you are right....they are starting to run together for me....I dont know who they were thinking about then....

I think she's talking about Anthony from season 4. Isn't that his name? I was sooo glad when he went home!

I haven't really cared for Chris R. up until tonight but I thought he was good tonight. I am hoping Sanjaya is the first to go Thurs. night. I really don't care for him at all! I also wouldn't miss AJ. I have mixed feelings about Sundance. I feel like he is probably a nice guy and maybe I "should" like him...but at this point I really don't like him. Maybe my feelings will change since something tells me he will be around a while. It's hard for me to rank the guys so I will just say my top 6 would probably be (and this is in no particular order either!):

1. Phil
2. Chris S.
3. Chris R.
4. Blake
5. Brandon
6. Jarrod

The rest can go home IMO.

the problem with that song is it's basically the same verse over and over again. it gets annoying really fast. i agree. i don't like him either. and that little skit they did with his baby and the beard?? lame. honestly.

Brandon Rogers - Time after Time - Love this song. The late Eva Cassidy's version of this is possibly my favorite song ever. I think its too early for this person to go home. I think he has one of the best voices in this competition....top 4 overall...2nd among the guys....did I think his performance was a WOW performance no not at all...I just hate to see him leave when I know he is better than several of the other guys that will stay....I think he needs to really show off his voice and thats what has hurt him....BUT he is better than most of the guys and it will be a shame to see him go....

Chris Richardson was my favorite last night. The worst ones were Sanjaya and Nick. Unfortunantly, according to dialidol, Sanjaya got ALOT of votes. One of my co-workers said he heard that there is a group of people who vote for the worst one. IF that is true, that would be Sanjaya. :sad2: So he may not be going anywhere soon. I think we should brace ourselves for someone really good to get voted off.

Who I think is going home
Nick Pedro
Brandon Rogers

I think you're right. I like Brandon, and wish it were Sanjaya going insted of him, but I think Sanjaya will be around for awhile . . .

Sanjaya needs to go home - that was awful.:scared1:

Nick disappointed me. I thought his vocals were really weak, despite the judges liking him.

Blake was outstanding.

Phil - was just OK for me dawg.

Sundance - pretty good stuff.

Chris R. - rocked the house - best one all night.

Brandon - yuck, he can do so much better than that.

Jared - I liked it.

A.J. - Not bad, but the guy looks too much like Scott Peterson, I get the willies looking at him.:scared1:

Chris S. - Great - I finally decided why I like his voice, he sounds a little bit like David Crosby - and he's a favorite of mine.

Last night with the guys was a vast improvement over week one but I still didn't think it could hold a candle to the show the girls put on. Still, there were some bright spots and one really BIG surprise.

Phil Stacy: The hairless one came out singing Missing You. I like this guy quite a bit but I like him more with my eyes shut. Why his barren head gives me the jitters, I'm not sure. I think it has something to do with those really dark eyebrows. :scared1: But back to singing. Nice voice and and OK stage presence but nothing that blew me away. He got a 7.

Jared Cotter: Let's get it On. Oh, my! Raise my internal thermostat young man. What a cutie! Another nice voice with the looks to match. He got an 8.

AJ Tabaldo: He's another guy who's not great but can certainly be entertaining. The number seemed to start off a bit slow and pitchy but improved as it went along. Fun to watch, if we could only transplant his stage presence on to a few of the others. I gave him a 7.

Sanjaya Malakar: Oh dear, now that was just awful. If this was AI on the radio where you couldn't see who was singing, maybe but watching his performance was just down right painful. And what was up with the lack of projection. I thought my volume control was broken. Nothing worked for him tonight. A 2 for Sanjey and he was lucky to get that.

Chris Sligh: He sang Trouble which was also done by Taylor. Surprisingly I like Chris' version even more. I'm hoping that sometime in the next few weeks Chris picks the perfect song. When he does he'll blow everyone out of the theater because his voice is amazing. Another solid performance but I still think he can do better. He got a 9.

Nick Pedro: I really like the song Fever. Last year Paris did this and she wowed me but Nick's was so so. A bit to high schoolish for my taste. He's got a nice tone to his voice but it doesn't seem like he's done much live performing. OK but nothing that great, he gets a 6.

Blake Lewis: While I wasn't sure if I'd ever heard this song before, I'd like to hear Blake's version again. I really like this guy. He's fun to watch, fun to listen to and quite the entertainer. Even the sound effects are enjoyable. Liked him last week and thought this week was even better... he got a 9.5.

Brandon Rogers: His delivery made me wonder if he'd just run the marathon. For most of it he sounded totally out of breath. I love the song Time After Time but it's so closely linked to Cyndi Lauper that I have trouble seeing it as a guy song. Another one of the generic performers, I gave him a 5.

Chris Richardson: It was at this point that I think I entered the Twilight Zone. The judges gushed over his performance while I was trying to figure out what the heck he was saying. Thank goodness for closed captioning! Push a single contestant much? No diction, weak delivery, pitchy to the point of painful... I'm sure what I watched must have come from an alternate universe. I gave him a 3 and only because he was better than Sanjaya.

Sundance Head: Then my Twilight Zone experience continued. I sat with mute button in hand but WTH??? My comments last night were FANTASTIC and THE BOMB. Has this guy always been able to sing like that and has just been torturing us the first few weeks? I was totally blown away.
The last guy I thought I'd be giving my coveted 10 to but he deserved it.

Who I want to go home:
Sanjaya
Chris R

Who I think will go home:
Sanjaya
Brandon

Who I voted for:
Sundance - a lot!
Chris S. - a lot!
Blake - a lot!
Jared - a few.

Best Simonism of the night: I love puppies. :rotfl: I'm sure he does.

As always... JMHO! :teeth:

ETA: What on earth was up with ALL the judges last night. Their antics were shameful and annoying.
