American Idol Season 6: The Official Thread

what, you mean like bobby? :lmao:
bobby_bennett.jpg

omg Bobby!!! that guy was great! "At the copa.....copacabanaaaaaaaaaa!" ahaha!

There's no such thing as too much Ace babble!

I ditto everything said above about Ace!

But this is a new season...I think I'm gonna be rooting for Phil!

man i could go on babbling about Ace forever. i don't think that would be good, since this IS the season 6 thread lol.

i don't really know most of them. i didn't catch all of the auditions this season. i like Chris(i KNOW....who would ever have thought you would hear me utter THOSE words? thankfully it's a different "Chris" lol) and Sanjaya(sp??)

I thought they made the wrong choice for both the last choices of the night. I thought Tommy was better than Sundance and the one girl was better than Antonella (or whatever her name is). I think they have had Sundance picked to go on from the very beginning truthfully. And I agree that Antonella is just plain gorgeous and that is why she's still there. I also thought Sundance was a bit insensitive to Tommy after they found out the results. The whole, "If I make it big, then you could be my bodyguard," bit was kind of insulting, even if he was just joking. Tommy looked pretty pissed too.

I really like Chris Sligh and the Philip guy (he is the one with the new baby, right?). I think the brother, Sanjaya, is adorable- in a little kid type way. I am not sure if I really like his voice though. I like Melinda (she's the background singer, right?) As far as the rest of the girls, I really don't know. I haven't heard enough of the actual singing to form an opinion yet. I am sooo ready for next week so we can get this show on the road finally!

I was disappointed to see that the guy with the long beard and hair (Sean Michel) didn't make it. I really liked him.

Sanjaya and Chris are my favorites this year.they both need haircuts tho lol. still tho, it's got nothing on last year. i'm still kinda bored with it.

you know, I've watched every season religiously, and i often think that at the beginning of the season. but the only season where i truly didn't find myself pulling for anyone in particular was season 4 (I ended up on the "anyone but Carrie" camp, and look where that got me!). last year I was a hardcore Elliott fan, but not until we reached the top 10 or so did he start standing out to me. that's what's exciting about the competition, you never know who will grow on you!

well they usually do that. a lot of the time even during the hollywood rounds, they know who's going to the top 24.

i like Chris and Sanjaya. they're so far my favorites. not really down with Philip for some reason. i remember him once you said "the guy with the baby".

omg i know, i LOVED Sean Michel! i called him Woods, because he looked like he lived in the woods. i hope he tries out again next year!

i guess i'm just spoiled. last year was my first year watching and i saw my favorite Idol right when he walked into his audition! i knew it right then "oh, he's my favorite!" i said it outloud.

Yeah, I've always thought that it is pretty much decided from the beginning up until America starts voting...then it sometimes gets interesting. Of course there is always one or 2 that I think they initially plan to put through that blows it. For example, the Baylie girl...I think they wanted to put her through from the beginning but then she totally blew the group song and they decided she didn't have what they were looking for afterall. That's my theory with her anyway.

Philip reminds me a little of Chris Daughtry with the bald head and all...maybe that's why you don't care for him? ;) Speaking of which, I just bought Chris's CD and it is really good. My 21 month old likes it better than I do though and keeps asking me to play it for her. I never would have guessed her to be a Chris fan!

I really, really thought that Sean Michel would make the top 12 and then the stylists would work their magic. I predicted he would be a complete hottie under all that hair. It would have been a fun transformation. Oh well.

you know.....i think that's it. he does remind me of him, so that makes him :scared: in my book already lol.

i know i thought Sean was going to be a total hottie too. what happened to him? i guess i missed it when he was in Hollywood. was he bad? did they even show him?? i know i saw them tell him he wasn't going into the top 24, but i didn't actually see his performance. i DID see Sundance's performances in Hollywood and i thought he sounded awful.

That was Chris Sligh and he's been my favorite since his first audition. I predict he will definitely be in the top 12 and may go pretty far.
Thanks for telling me his name! HE MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooo excited! I LOVE his voice and he is sooooo funny. I loved when he walked in to see if he made it, and he said: I know you all are wondering why I called this meeting tonight." Funny! Love him! If he didnt have women interested in him before, he HAS to now! Strange how we women can be attracted to funny, nice guys who aren't that attractive, but men arent. :sad2:

Well - I see I've missed alot today, so now I'm going back to see what you all have been talking about!:surfweb:

yeah well, men tend to be more shallow that way........*hides*

yeah i was glad he made it. i have a friend that kind of reminds me of him in a way. his personality and somewhat his looks(not the big hair tho, and my friend isn't quite as heavy set) but it's funny because everytime i see this Chris guy i think "omg it's Dave!" lol.

What's the spoiler issue?

The AI thread has always had them and we've also, as a PP mentioned, done "live" commentary...

Spoilers from Spoiler sites are being posted and it looks like some are incorrect..b/c I could have sworn it was implied that Gina got cut and she made it.:cool1:

He's fabulous looking, that much is for sure. He's the male equivalent to Antionella, I guess.

Sanjaya is actually very cute... and for those who didn't hear him sing his initial audition was great. He sang a Stevie Wonder song that was fantastic.

He is--but his picture perfect pearly whites are starting to bug me. His initial audition sounded a lot better than the snippets of his Hollywood audition that he showed.

Strangely I never noticed his teeth. Could it just be a contrast issue because his skin is a different tone so that makes his teeth stand out?

I don't know--he has a VERY VERY big smile and each tooth is perfectly positioned, so I am not sure. :confused3 They are very very perfect.

I heard rumors a week or two ago about Sean Michel. That he was supposed to advance to the top 24 but he was dropped because he said that he would not cut or trim his hair or beard (I guess they were thinking long term once the stylists kick in) plus he had a pretty radical "MySpace" page. Even had a picture of him in his Castro-like clothes holding a semi-automatic weapon. (Although he wasn't radical in a militia type way, just very religious.) I think they did want him to advance but were worried about what he might say or do with the right opportunity.

Oh, and Antonella = Season 5's Becky O'Donahue. Pretty to look at but not so much to listen to. She won't last

Bleech, last night was a bit of a disappointment. :( Like another poster said, it's hard to get a feeling for some of these people when the Top 24 round is the basically the first time you've seen them.

That aside, I was happy about some and sad that others I liked didn't make the cut.

The sad side...
ARGGGG! Matt Buckstein, the cowboy, was cut again. Maybe his single performance wasn't good enough but we'll never know because they couldn't even give him a 10 second blurb in prime time! All I know is he did a great job in last year's finale show.

Tammi Gosnell the lip ring, Whipping Post girl. I really liked her and she would have been a refreshing change from the mostly Barbie Doll selectees. :sad2:

The Brenna/Mikayla fan club. I don't know why but I suspect these contestants are going to annoy me.
Gina Glockson and Sundance.

My favorites so far in this order.

Jordin Sparks

Sanjaya

Bill Stacy - He was a pleasant surprise last night. Even the husband commented on how good he was.

Lakisha Jones

Chris Sligh :thumbsup2

Chris and Lakisha are miles ahead of the rest but I still want to see more.

As always, JMHO. :teeth:

When they brought her & Marisa Rhodes in for the final cut I thought for sure that Antonella was going home, especially after they played the snippet of Marisa singing.

I also think that Antonella will be going home early in this competition.
