I agree with you about Marissa though. I had no clue who she was either, but when they showed her singing last night, I thought she sounded great. This is part of the problem I have with the show this year, they showed so many of the bad auditions and not the good ones. It would have been nice to hear Marissa more than once to make a better judgment. Same goes for a lot of the other contestants that we heard only once. If they were shown more than once, they certainly didn't "spotlight" them as they did with others.

Anyway...I agree...I also feel the way they handle it only hurts the ones who get through, vote wise, because people will ultimately have ill feelings towards them and forget the other 11 people....in this case Antonella....I still dont see why they cant bring them up one by one, if they must do it that way, and send them out another room so the group waiting below has no clue...then it would eliminate that last 2 scenario...something like this....or put the top 24 in a room and the others in another room and do it like that...and move on....just not a fan of this one episode every year....less auditions, more hollywood, and then lets get on with it....JMHO

I think it her last name was Hunt if I'm thinking of the same person you are. She had strawberry blonde hair?

I didn't think she was all that great of a singer either.

Doesn't America vote? I'm not trying to be snarky, but I thought that it was pretty much up the voters from here on out.

They do, but there are a lot of folks that think the whole thing is rigged and phoney and our votes don't really count.

Brandon Rodgers is the rumored "winner" already according to a spoiler that I I (and the PP who brought this up) read somewhere. I would be very interested to see how that plays out.

Also - if he does win, this is perhaps the last year I'll be wasting my time calling in for Idol.

I just don't get it this season. I know, it's still early, but I'm really surprised who made it and who didn't. I'm still scratching my head over Antonella! Marissa sounded so much better then her, and Antonella forgot her words! I'm guessing that they're going with looks on that one, but Marissa is a pretty girl too. I feel like they've been shoving Antonella down our throats, and it bugs me. Then again, they tend to do that with a lot of the contestants.

I still love Chris, he's my favorite. But I have to say that when he sang his song in Hollywood with the background singers, he didn't sound as great. Then again, not many of them did. If he didn't have the funny personality, I dont' know if I'd like him as much.

I'm liking Gina too. But so far, I'm not super excited about seeing these contenstants perform this season, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of originality. Hopefully that will change!

I think the background singers are always terrible...even during the final 12 stage..they overpower the contestants and make them sound so bad.

The other Chris was so trying to be Justin Timberlake it wasn't funny! He had the ahir, the moves, the faces, the voice...as he walked out tof the room into the elevator my 14 year old.."there goes the Justin wannabe" she said out loud what I was thinking.

I think the judges went for safe this year.

And I think Leslie will be the first to go...what little I heard of her voice last night wasn't very good at all.

Last season there was this independent website(I loved it & think I initially found the URL through the DIS) that tracked the voting(by extrapolating off of the busy signals), had the contestants' voting-for phone numbers, etc...does anybody have that URL(if they are still in business)? I thought I had saved it, but now can't seem to find it in my favorites...

I think it's really hard to form an opinion about who was a standout or who did better than others in Hollywood week, because they showed us so little actual singing from it! I don't remember seeing any clips of Marissa except for the one they showed along with the final two drama. I agree that in the battle of the two tiny clips we saw in that moment, she was way better than Antonella, but how can we say Marissa was better overall? We've just got so little to base any opinions on.

And about Antonella in particular - I was kind of glad to see her make it through (and this has nothing to do with comparing her to Marissa or anybody else). She stuck out to me from her very first audition because she seemed so overshadowed and controlled by her nasty best friend. I remember her talking about how her friend was the one with the "training", as if she herself was less worthy because she didn't have training. Also, they were talking about how the two of them would go shopping, and the nasty friend would always tell Antonella what to buy, as if Antonella was too stupid to pick her own clothes. I was just glad to see her go on without this toxic "friend", so she can stand on her own two feet for a change.

Blech. I couldn't stand Amanda, so maybe that's why I don't like Antonella either.

I think she's trying too hard to make her friend feel better, since she got kicked out of the competition.

I agree with other posters @ the backup singers. I thought the sound technicians did a TERRIBLE job last year & part of the problem IMO is that the mixing between the soloists & backups svcked. Whoever was running the sound board should have been fired.

Sounds like she may have some self esteem issues. I don't know why though. She is beautiful.

He reminds me of Gideon McKinney (minus the wacky Gideon smile, of course!). It will be interesting to see if he DOES win. Hmmmmm!
Maybe they'll purposely make it so that he doesn't win now, because they know America is on to them!

If this is true and I am not sure how it could be....unless of course votes are Shat...I will quit with this show....never watch again....that would total crap if its true....I wish you would have hidden that post and let me highlight it if i wanted too....if he wins you ruined AI for me....

Oh it couldn't possibly ruin AI for you. If it were a known fact, THAT would ruin it for you. I mean, are you really going to sit there every Wednesday and say, "oh darn, I know how this is going to turn out because PhiSigPrincess already told me?" No - now you can just watch AI all season waiting for the rumor to be proven wrong.

My 2 biggest shocks getting into the top 24 were Antonella and Leslie Hunt, I think is her name. Neither of them were anywhere near good I thought.
