Yikes!! Ten minutes on one whiny non talented girl???? Enough already!!

My thoughts exactly! I was so looking forward to last night's show but found myself a bit disappointed. I felt they spent waaay too much time on some of the contestants. I hope they show a lot more people tonight!

Wow where is the talent this season? I am hoping they just didn't show the really good ones. A couple were not to bad but none of the ones they showed were Fantastic!

No flames here...I'm with you. I watch the auditions anyway, because my DD's love them, but I wish they would move on to Hollywood much faster than they do. Maybe roll all of the cities into 2 2-hour specials with the 'worst of the worst' and then get on with it!

I think Cyndirella is onto something here. They could have two 2 hour specials. One could be the best of the best showing previews of those who made it through to Hollywood and the other could be a worst of the worst for those of us who like to watch the train wrecks.

I can't believe I just read all of today's posts and nobody mentioned PAULA?? What is up with her, was she drunk? At one point, she looked like she was sleeping! And she kept drinking, like there was something in there. Her speech is slurred now, has anyone heard what is wrong with her? I can't believe they're keeping her on like this.

She was definitely buzzed! Or to give her the benefit of the doubt on some kind of medication.

I was almost embarrassed for her. She hardly said two coherent words and was definitely buzzed, not just "tired". I have concerns about her lasting the season if she doesn't get her act together. I know she has pain managment issues but if she needs a doseage that is going to affect her ability to function, I think she should step down and evaluate what she should do. I also hope they are not considering Jewel as a replacement. She has the personality of a gnat, imho.

The best part of this show was watching Paula. For the most part, they did not even let her talk. I think it was because she was drunk or something. The way she was clutching that cup... I thought more people would have commented on her

I kinda feel sorry for the judges, having to listen to all these people who clearly have no talent and are looking for their 15 minutes.

Could they have just unlocked the door? I would think that technically it is a fire hazzard having it locked.

The first episode was just ok. A tad weak. NO REAL talent, and not enough train wrecks. The spent way too much time devoted to one or two people. Poor Jewel. She was so sweet in the beginning but as the day wore on you could see her finding the "you suck" groove that Randy was on. I didn't notice any real Paula problems other than she was very quiet the whole time and would close her eyes while the good singers were performing (in a dreamy kind of way).

I am joining in on the thread. Most of it has all been said about last night's show. Yes - it was lame but I knew it would be. It is entertaining, anyways. I enjoy Canadian Idol more because I can actually take my kids to tapings of the show about an hour from my home, get autographs etc... Having said that - I am all geared up for the new AI season - I know it will be great - eventually! You are all so right about Paula. I am worried about her - someone needs to do an intervention and get that gal some help! She is so clearly stoned and seems to have no idea what is going on half the time! This does not reflect well on the show. She is supposed to be a role model of sorts to the contestants, isn't she? Pain mangement? Yes - many people need pain management but do not walk around like zombies! This gal has a serious addiciton problem and needs to get help before it is too late!

Last night was a waste of my DVR time...

Too many people vying for airtime, trying WAY too hard and the producers giving them WAY too much time. The hysterical one for me was the rocker boy who sang Dancing Queen like a rocker... AND everything else! He was cute as a button but he will have NO VOICE by the time he's 30!!

I agree about the filthy mouth juggler, I sure hope that was a group of actors waiting for him because if that was my son you all would be talking about the crazy Mom who throttled her kid for cussing like that!!

Do ya THINK not enough of these kids understand that being in the business involves a whole lot of REJECTION? It's best to get those types out of the way early.

The only thing is..I have a scheduling conflict. AI is on from 7-9. Armed and Famous is on from 7-8. I guess what I could do is turn the TIVO off (which still lets it record) and watch A&F. Gah. I hate scheduling conflicts.

I'm actually kind of dreading tonight's episode. Some of the people they showed in the clips appeared to be developmentally challenged or similar. I don't really think it will be fun to watch Simon et al make fun of them.

Not a MD, but I am familiar with observing specific addiction behavior. My bet is on her pain medication (which she admitted to, but will not discuss the specifics of), not alchohol. It's either building up in her system or she is just taking too much each dose. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Just saw on one of those entertainment news shows that they're claiming that Paula had a earpiece in ear, and was listening to two different audio "feeds".

Randy says that she was just worn out from doing interviews, dog.

Some producer or big wig from the show says that they are not concerned about her....that she is well....yeah right
