must have been just like all his songs last season...glad I missed it

No - to me it wasn't. Last year, he really southern rocked it out. Last night was not so good.

Text message?, Heck my 11 DD just showed me how to use Aim last night. I won't get to text message for another 3 years! :rotfl:

Ayla Brown's father, Scott Brown, was on a local radio show this morning and he said they were shown a geographic breakdown of the voting. He basically said the blue states liked Ayla but the red states vote heavily for the southerners in the contest. He said it is pretty hard to go against a girl who was abandoned by her mother and left on her grandparents door steps who's father is in prison. I assume he was referring to Kellie Pickler.

.
He said that? Did he sound bitter? Not hearing the interview but just reading what he said sounds mean and nasty-mind you not hearing the interivew it is hard to judge.

You've got to be kidding me. Talk about sour grapes. Now I know where Ayla gets it from. They are so used to getting whatever they want and now that they didn't they are coming up with excuses. How about the fact that she's just not a great singer?

I just don't get this Kevin hype. My DD's are 9 and 11 and they do not think he is cute at all. My 9 year old thinks he is geeky. I think he must be getting a lot of the grandparent votes.

I know everyone at this point thinks they are going to be big stars but even the person who comes in third has never amounted to anything in this contest, nevermind fourth or fifth or sixth. Where is Justin Guarini? Diana DiGarmo? Heck, where are Ruben and Fantasia??

I think the contestants know there can only be one official winner. But, they also know that their AI exposure opens doors for them that never would of opened without alot of hard work, sacrifice and years of rejection.

Frenchie....nevernind 4th, 5th or 6th, she got kicked out before the competition even started, and almost immediately had people knocking. Fantasia is out there somewhere, and so is Ruben, Diana and Kim Locke has done pretty darn good for herself. heck I think John Stevens has a recording contract. They may not be billboard super-stars, but they are doing what they love and making a living. They would not be where they are today if not for AI.

As for Ayla, she is a beautiful girl, and I would not be surprised if she makes it big besides her music. I can amost hear the modeling industry racing to her door. Ayla will be fine.

I love:
You are the sunshine of my life
I just called to say I love you
My Cherie Amour
Superstition

Hope someone does these!!

I'm satisfied with the eliminations of Will, Gideon and Kinnik. All three needed to go, though I think Kevin should be gone too. Ayla was a big error; a great talent and someone who could have appealed to a great deal of fans. Unfortunately, someone's got to go, and when everyone left is great, it becomes a matter of numbers; who's splitting votes with others.

I have to agree. I think Kevin should have gone this week, but then Gideon would have needed to go next week, so why split hairs about it. To me, Gideon left one week earlier than he deserved. Gideon has a great voice, but he is stuck in a genre that probably won't sell records. Bucky, Chris, Ace and Taylor also have their niche, but I think they fit in with today's music - well maybe not Taylor, but he just draws you in anyway.

As for Ayla, I was heartbroken to see her go so soon. I don't think she is the winner, but I think she has more talent than a few of the girls that are left. People who are judging her on the success of her parents seem to be a bit jealous to me. She genuinely seems like a hard working, ambitious, young girl and I would be thrilled to have her as a role model for my daughter. I do feel that the modeling agencies will be beating down her door after this. I really hope she does well in life.

I polled the girls at the bus stop this morning and they all think Kevin is just GROSS as they put it. They thought Will was cute but couldn't sing. The crowd favorite seems to be Ace! These are 9 and 11 year old girls too.

I'm happy with the final 12.

Did anyone else notice that none of the guys have really been "huggy"/friendly with Taylor? LAst week during the elimination, Taylor rubbed Chris on top of his head from the back row to congratulate him for escaping elimination and Chris turned around and shot him a wicked look. Then last night when each guy made it over to the final 12 chairs their was hand shakes and hand slapping but no real hugginess or chuminess for Taylor from ANYONE but the other guys all hugged and back slapped. Do they think he's weird??

Oh, I forgot to talk about Ace. Okay, a lot of you are suggesting that he's gay. It really doesn't matter to me since 1) I don't find him all that attractive anymore and 2) even if I did, I'll never meet him and 3) even if I met him, I'm married and he'd be uninterested. Now, having said all that.............................What was with the hug he gave Will? Did it seem just a bit too tight and a bit too long to anyone else? I know he has a girlfriend, but what does that really mean?

I noticed last week that when chris was told he was safe that taylor(who was sitting behind him) rubbed him on his head. Maybe he hates being rubbed.

If no one sings Ribbon in the Sky next week I will be THRILLED!! I think that's one of the most overdone Idol songs out there (Along with Fallen, I'll Be, Superstar, and Let's Stay Together). Let's hear some different Stevie for a change!

As for the top 12, I think it's very solid. I think Melissa will probably go first. I would say Kevin, but he's managed to hang in there a lot longer than anyone thought. The first 2 eliminated dont' go on tour, so it should be interesting.

Another thing I noticed about contestant interaction (going off of the Taylor discussion) is that Chris isn't very friendly with the girls. He reluctantly hugged Kelly and that was it. I think it just shows his maturity and that he is married and focused on his family.

I agree with everyone else, Bo looked like there was something wrong - especially at the end of his song. Hope he's doing ok....

Also notice that Bo got his teeth whitened! Maybe not straightened out...but defibitely whitened. There are a few contestants that could use the Crest white strips.

I know the family and believe me those girls are not spoiled even though both parents are well known. Ayla and her sister are both well rounded girls with good morals and they have both worked hard to get where they are. Ayla works very hard at school and also has done some volunteer community service. She babysits and drives a clunker, no special treatment from her parents. I do not think she would have been the AI either but I am happy for her to have made it as far as she did. She will do well in life from her own ambitions not by the help of anyone else.

The last two weeks, it seemed to me that Kellie has been singling out Chris for hugging. And, I noticed that he was nice about it, but didn't seem to initiate any of the hugs. I deleted my episodes, but I'd love to go back and look again. Last night, she had her arm around his neck at the end and to me, he looked uncomfortable. Think our country girl may not be as innocent as she acts?

Wow, seems that there are a lot of people out there that aren't comfortable with self-assured people. Was Ayla going to win AI? Absolutely not, not even close. I figured she wouldn't make it to the final 10. But she can sing, just doesn't have that 'IT' factor. Has she ever been disappointed in life? According to a lot of you she hasn't. But, if you look at her objectively..she's a beautiful girl, is a terrific athlete, and a wonderful student. I don't think her parents were able to impact those grades or her athletic prowess or her looks. Please, cut the kid some slack. So she didn't have a great stage presence. Her mother, the anchor, and her dad, the politician, had nothing to do with voting. I voted for her, as did my dd's, because we liked her and she is from our area. I'm really glad she is going to be able to focus on school and basketball this spring/summer. I really believe that she has a much brighter future ahead of her than most of the other contestant. Which brings me to the final 12. I don't think they are even close to previous years talents. I don't particularly care about any of them. Some can only sing one genre...put them out of that comfort zone and they are going to be lost. I love Kevin's voice, just have to shut my eyes when I listen to him....guess he won't be going too far. Mandissa is wonderful....I think she is the best of the group. Chris is good, Elliot is good, Taylor is good, but I don't think any of them are going to shine. I guess I'm just an old poop.

However, I wish they would do a younger AI...put the teens with teens. These kids, like Lisa, just can't compete long term with the older voices. I would love to see two different shows. Maybe they could alternate them. Just a thought from the old poop!

I'm glad to hear that about her. She has been one of my favorites since the beginning. Some people are saying that she got so upset because she's never lost at anything in her life. Why is that a bad thing. People with high ambitions and the work ethic to follow through with them should always succeed. She could have been like those horrible criminal twins who expected to succeed just by whining and moaning.

I've got to give props to Ace. He was consoling Paris when Gedeon got the boot. He stood there with his arm around her the whole time. She was sobbing.

If you watch the interview of Ace's girlfriend of over a year on TMZ.com, (Essence Atkins - a regular on Half and Half), she talks about how he is a genuinely nice and caring person, so it doesn't surprise me that he was consoling her. He is just one of those sensitive guys :thumbsup2 (She also responds to the question asking if Ace is a good kisser :goodvibes )
