American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread**

I don't really understand why everyone thinks Gedeon has an attitude. I was honestly upset that not one of the guys said they felt safe. Gedeon's not my favorite by far, but I don't think he was being pompous just because he said he didn't think he was in the bottom three.

I agree. I'm sure that most of the others didn't think that they were in the bottom three, either. They just didn't have the courage to say so. I think he was confident, not arrogant. I didn't think it was right of Ryan to ask any of them that question.

For the life of me I cannot understand why they let the singers who have been voted out sing AGAIN before they leave!! If the voters didn't like them and their song choice, WHY do they make us listen to them AGAIN?! I'd rather hear a couple of the ones STAYING sing THEIR songs again!!!
I agree that they shouldn't have to sing after they are voted out but not for the same reason. I think it's awful that they have to pull themselves together so quickly in order to perform after they have gone through what was probably one of the biggest disappointments in their lives.

i actually like that they sing. i have seen many of my favorites voted off, and it is always nice to watch them sing again when you know that it will be their last time. somewhere out there, heather, david, becky, sway, stevie, patrick and yes, even brenna & bobby's die-hard fans were thrilled to have one more chance to hear their favorite.

I agree. Why get pissy at him because he's being honest?? I like Gedeon. Not my favorite, but what's wrong with having a little self-confidence? I'd rather him be straight with us than tell us something he thinks we want to hear.

I just have to say I DON'T get it!

He may very well be a nice guy... but a sex symbol?!
I don't even see the "so cute you want to pinch his cheeks" thing personally. :confused3

I don't get it either. He's not cute, nor adorable. I don't want to pinch his creepy little cheeks. He's an average singer. Why this dork is still there is beyond me!! :confused3

I agree! It was very disturbing to me this little geek singing a Marvin Gaye song. It was just terrible. My picks for next week vote off; Kevin and Will.

The morning team on the local radio station I listen to (105.1) were really slamming American Idol this morning. They were upset about the Pizza/Salad comment & were saying how out of it Paula seemed. I didn't get to see the show last night, but it sounds like Paula was definitely on something. :sad2:

Annie68 - I'm in Michigan too and I was listening to Magic 105.1 this morning on my way to work and heard all the ruckus too. I had AI on last night but I was cleaning house and doing homework as well. I heard the comments but wasn't paying enough attention to see how out of it Paula was acting. From what they said on the radio this morning, it was really bad. I'm not surprised...she was the same way last year as well.

I thought the ladies voted out last night were good choices. Brenna gave me a headache. Paula. I am not sure what to say but I know she takes pain pills for her back and I get that loopy on Vicodaine, at least that loopy. I don't leave the house tho :)

Yeah I thought Paula could have been a little more considerate of other's feelings. I mean, come on, it was about to be one of the most disappointing moments in one of their lives!!! I think she should apologize to them....no one has any freaking idea what the heck she was talking about!!!!!!! :confused3

I agree. I don't think Gedeon is arrogant and "in your face" with it like Brenna was. He's confident in himself but you could tell yesterday he still felt vulnerable.

I'm still not over last night's boots. I know everyone hated Brenna, but I was a genuine fan. I found her attitude and antics funny, but I can see why people would hate that she isn't nicey nice like people want the cotnestants on this show to be.

Well, I may not even watch the girl's episode this week. Its so painfully obvious who will be booted. Even though IMO, Melissa should make it instead of Kellie, Ayla, or Katharine.

LOL!! I don't read this thread for 24 hours so I missed all the VFTW questions.

Yeah, this week's candidates will be Kellie and Kevin. I tried to push for Kinnik or Melissa instead, but I was in the minority. People feel that 1- she isn't a great singer to begin with 2- the judges will eventually turn on her 3- the producers won't want to be stuck with another blonde country girl as a winner. The Kellie picture comes from some talent competition or pageant (i think) that she participated in. The webmaster doesn't want to get in trouble with Fox, so he only uses images not owned by AI/Fox.

Kevin is self-explanatory.

And yeah, Taylor may be a possible candidate further on down the road. People are thinking that he may not be the most marketable cotnestant and that his tics (like yelling WOO! this past week) will start to grow a bit old. I also wouldn't be surprised depending on how the top 12 goes to see Ace become the candidate, but my prediction will be that Ace will be leaving us sooner than later.

Just to change the subject a bit....Josh Gracin came to our local fair last fall here in Charleston SC....My wife had a fit to go see him so we did....that place was packed....and I must say he put on a very good show....He was Garth Brooksesque on the stage....I have seen a lot of concerts, Kenny Chesney 4 times, George Strait 5 times, Alabama, Alan Jackson 2 times, Martina, Shania (who was terrible by the way), Faith, Tim McGraw, Garth (Who I am not a fan of vocally but performs well) and Josh was right there with them....The best concerts if you want to hear music and the performer sing are Alan and George Strait(My personal Favorite singer)..Martina too but its loud when she hits them high notes ..Anyway Josh stayed after the show and signed autographs and spoke to everyone...My wife got a autograph and he talked to our kids....he was very nice....

On a side note... funny story, My wife is in love with Kenny Chesney she melts when she hears or sees him, but before he became big he came to this same fair.... I was already a fan...the song "Grandpa told me so" from his 1st album hooked me...anyway he was a nobody at the time and my wife only sat through part of the show before rides began to call...she left, I stayed and after the show he came out and talked and did autographs but he wasnt behind a table, he was doing hugs and pictures too...well my wife was nowhere to be found and Kenny stayed out with me after everyone had left and talked to me...we were standing side by side...I got pictures...I told him thanks and that when he makes it big my wife will never forgive herself for not coming back...well she hates it now and I never let her live it down....whenever he is on TV or whatever I say like if you would have only stayed you might have gotten swept away by him or something like that....She gets sooooo mad....I think its funny....

I'd be mad too if I were your wife. :) Kenny Chesney is very cool.

I also really like Alan Jackson and George Strait. I've been pleased to see Josh Gracin doing so well in the last year and hope that he keeps it up.

Yeah, this week's candidates will be Kellie...

What? I think that just goes to show what a bunch of nonsense VFTW is. You picked the one candidate that AI has been shoving down our throats relentlessly this season. :confused3 :rotfl2: I took a peek at the VFTW site...imagine my surprise when I saw that it only had 300 members! :lmao: Pick whoever you want...VFTW has absolutely no impact on the outcome. And since you're quoting DIS posts on VTFW, you can quote me on that! :wave2:

I don't think VFTW has any impact either. I don't think the VFTW people do either. It just gets so much attention that it has continued.

VFTW is completely ridiculous! I checked it out yesterday. Who would waste their time doing that crud? LOL

Me!

And they currently are shoving Kellie down our throats. But I guarantee you that through the next 4-6 weeks the judges will slowly turn against her. Do I think Kellis is the best VFTW pick for this moment? No, but thats how the members voted.

As for the 300 members thing, that is only the number of different people that have posted on the VFTW ezboard (which has only been around for around 2-3 months or so) That does not take into account the lurkers on the board who don't post at all or the people who just visit the main site to see who the picks are.

And Damo pretty much nailed it on the head.

I agree. I like him, and I think he said what the others were thinking, but were afraid to express. I also loved his song. I don't know how he will do, but there is a lot time after the coaches get involved. We'll see who grows and who does not. I am along for the ride, and enjoy watching the changes every week. :goodvibes
