I thought it was terrible that Randy told Kat the song was boring! Did she pick it, or did the producers?

But, sorry Kat, TAYLOR IS GOING TO WIN!!!!

I'm not a huge fan of either Taylor or Kat (Chris fan ) but I thought it was kind of lousy that Simon predicted Taylor to win the competition at the end of the show, that must have made Kat feel really great.

He always does that.

I hate when he does that. I also hate when he tells someone they're going home. I think it influences people.

Last night was really surprising for me, in the Taylor department three times over:

#1 = Holy Lounge Singer...the person who chose that jacket for him is NOT his friend. And if he chose it...I don't know what to say

#2 = He stunk up Levon! OMG I've been listening to his first take on this song on my MP3 player over and over for weeks and it is my favorite. Better than the original (gasp) vocals, IMO. Completely expected this to be a no-brainer blow-away-the audience number. But I was like "oh my gosh, what's wrong with Taylor??" - he was really nervous or something for this one. I was shocked.

#3 = Ah finally the moment I've been waiting for. But I didn't expect it to happen on this song. It sure did though. And the fact that he pulled it off on a song like this just goes to show what a true professional he is. When the "Taylorizing" of the song began I was on my feet shouting "YES!"

As for Kat...pleasant enough as usual.

I bit my nails off last night - and I don't bite my nails.

A few more random thoughts:

- For the "coronation" song, the producers should pick about 10 to 15 different songs from the various submissions - with a good mix of styles from "slightly rockin'" to "jazzy" - and let the finalists choose what song they believe best fits them. Saddling either of the finalists with a song completely unsuited to their style is a travesty.

- They should never make them sing two songs they've already performed again. Stick with the 1-1-1 formula; one new cover, one "favorite" from the competition, and the coronation drek. As much as I enjoyed Kat's two songs the first time they were performed, they just lost something the second time around, and the same goes for Taylor.

- How anyone could watch the clips from the season they showed last night - including the one of Kat crying when they told her she was through to Hollywood - and still call the girl "conceited" or "arrogant" is just beyond me. I usually have a pretty good "bs" detector, and I just don't get that from her at all.

- I absolutely guarantee that Kat will sound phenomenal on her album, where as Taylor will sound like...well, just like Taylor sounds (and no, that's not a bad thing). The thing with Kat is, when she is 'on her game", she is incredible. But she is not always "on her game," which is why I think Taylor should win the competition itself. However, in a studio, she won't have that problem, as only her best will go into the album. Because of that, I fully expect her to have a tremendous recording career.

- The whole "he'll be better off for not having won" thing cracks me up every time I read it. There isn't a shred of evidence supporting that theory over the five years of this show. Sure, some of the non-winners have gone on to do some great things. But the vast majority of the people that have lost on this show have done little-to-nothing afterwards. In my opinion, the "better off for not winning" crowd is just "sour grapes", and nothing more.

- As Bo last year led directly to Chris, I'm anxious to see what kind of people are attracted by Taylor's success. I doubt that very many of us have not seen some local "bar band" singers that we didn't think to ourselves, "wow...this guy (or girl) is really good." I hope that T's success will lead to a lot of those types giving it a shot next year. It can only serve to improve the talent pool, and I think we all benefit from that.

1 cup Mariah Carey
1 cup Whitney Houston (1980's vintage, must be MSG and Bobby Brown free)

Mix these three ingredients thoroughly, then set aside in a warm place until it attracts ants.

Meanwhile, take

200 Hallmark cards (no Shoebox Greetings)
100 High School Yearbook signings (preferably in rhyme)

and mix in a blender set to "Crappe". Add to above mixture.

What??? Sheesh is right. Why wouldn't AI have Bucky sing a country rock song?

Here is an blurb from USA Today on how they choose the final songs. They actually started with over 150...and these were the best??????

"Idol executives have mulled over more than 150 potential singles since January, narrowing the choices in recent weeks to match the remaining competitors, says 19 Entertainment's Iain Pirie, who oversees the process. The song has to work as a climactic moment on the show but also be something that potential music buyers want to keep listening to, he says.

Wow, if that's the case, then why not have the finalists choose their own song from that grand pool of "potential singles?"

Doing so would better represent what we could expect from the artists once they are actually recording. Even though it's not a song they wrote, we could better understand what type of song they would choose to record.

And this, too, would allow the judges to pull out the old "wrong/right song choice" critique that they're so fond of using.

This is exactly the way I feel... I am totally entertained by Taylor, and there is no question that he has talent. However, put Kat in a studio and... she could be beyond amazing! When Kat brings her A game... she's a star!

With all due respect, "daddy to the princess"... I've never met a man who turned on his "bs" detector full blast with a girl as pretty as Kat.... take it from the daughter of a "daddy to the princess" who I fooled for almost 50 years!!

I don't think she's conceited or arrogant but I don't think she's a naturally nice or genuine person. Not that she can't be I just think she's young and a bit doted upon. I don't get a since of sincerity from her that pulls me in, it's hard to describe. She just doesn't make me WANT to be in her camp.

Don't get me wrong, I think she's talented and a good singer but it's hard for me to feel anything for her. She just seems somehow disconnected for me. I felt the same way about Chris, though, maybe it's me.

There is really no true explanation for the vibes we get from people. Sometimes it's from within or from our own experiences. All I know is when I feel for something or someone I do and it feels good! If I don't I just can't support them.

I am a huge Taylor fan, and I 100% agree with what you wrote. That was a rotten thing to say. I like Kat too, and all I could think of, was how that must have felt hearing him say that.

Oh well... Simon's never been known for his tact.

I am a huge Taylor fan, and I 100% agree with what you wrote. That was a rotten thing to say. I like Kat too, and all I could think of, was how that must have felt hearing him say that.

Oh well... Simon's never been known for his tact.

I thought of that with most of what Simon said over the past week. I think that it is great that Kat received so many roses from her fans. Simon's comment was rather stupid on extra when asked who he thought would win...Kat had half a gymnasium & Taylor had a town. It doesn't matter what kind of media event you plan, what matters is who gets the votes...not from just the people in thier hometown but across the country. Simon is already backpedaling since he told Taylor in the auditions that he wouldn't make it into the final group...forget about the final 2.
