What's everyone think?

Well, I saw that same post today and THREE WEEKS AGO..............

Tarmand, I don't believe there are any conspiracy theories on idol. I think the judges and producers may try to manipulate the voting but that is as far as it goes.

I'm definitely not a conspiracy theorist by any means, but it's getting harder to believe that this show isn't slightly rigged in favor of the producer's favorite. I just read about the British article that proclaimed Carrie Underwood the winner three days before she won.

Thanks for the link - that was an interesting read.

Just read this on the AI board:

Ryan said that: Nigel implied that the one going home is a huge fan favorite. And he was shocked that the person's fanbase had a lackluster showing.

I'm going with the one who's in the bottom three that hasn't been before tonight will be the one going home: Please, please, please let it be KELLIE and NOT one of the guys.

I don't buy it. However I do think that AI "casts" the show by who they let through in the auditions. The bit about having a rocker is just common sense after Bo and Constantine's success last year. Of course AI is going to want a few more rockers to round out the top 12.

It's also clear they attempt to sway/manipulate the audience with the background stories, the judges comments, air time, and the order of singing. I don't fault AI for that - they're trying to make money. Shame on the audience for not recognizing and rewarding true talent and voting for the fluff stories instead. Then again, some people just have bad taste in music! :lmao:

It would seem to me that AI was forecasting Ace and Kellie to be in the top 2. On paper Ace seemed to have it all but he never had a breakout performance. And Kellie just hasn't improved over the weeks as the other contestants have. I don't believe for a second they foresaw Taylor's popularity with the viewing public.

WARNING SPOILER AHEAD!

As for the "scripted comments" idea... it actually makes the judges comments last night make more sense. I still can't get over Paula's tears after Elliott... I thought she must have been somewhere else... good, yes... great, maybe... moving, no way. JMHO

DialIdol results below... we'll see what happens tonight.

1-3 Taylor Hicks 26.011.581

1-3 Chris Daughtry 25.9541.582

1-4 Elliott Yamin 23.7211.605

3-5 Katharine McPhee 22.4671.619

4-6 Kellie Pickler 19.4211.65

5- 6 Paris Bennett 17.361.671

I remember when Constantine left last year, he had never been in the bottom 3 before, ever. Then all of a sudden, was GONE...It wouldn't surprise me if it was suddenly Kellie at all. And after a few disappointing performances, that is how it should be.

I too think the judges have their favorites. I thought Katherine Mcfee did an awsome job. Elliot wasn't worth crying over and Kellie should be the one going home for sure.

Well, my DVR paid for itself today.. I went over the entire show after reading everyone's critiques and found some very interesting things.

1: Katharine pulled her dress AFTER the button popped.

2: She really didn't sound as good as I first thought. She deliberately went down on the parts that WH went UP.. big cajones for singing that song in front of Foster, though, BIG ones...

3: Elliott sounded better than I remember, mostly because I sang the song with him last night. BTW, anyone who doesn't know Donny Hathaway here's a bit of trivia about him...

He committed suicide in NY by jumping out of the window of the Essex House Hotel. My best friend, Alan, and I went to the scene the next day. This was in 1979. Alan was a BIG fan of Donny Hathaway's. While we were there some JERK held up a sign saying "Watch out for Fat Flying Singers" and Alan nearly had a fit. He literally chased him up the block! I remember laughing but shake my head about it now....:rolleyes1:

4: Taylor didn't sound as bad as I first saw it, but he did seem distracted.

5: Kellie... sorry, I couldn't suffer through that again... not for all the tea in China.

6: I saw how Chris sang the song on his back and I tried it! Wow, it does work! Two guitarists? Man, do they cater to that guy!

Elliot I don't like. I think he and Paula should run off together.

ok, i absolutely adore elliott, but this comment made me :rotfl:

here's hopin' it's kellie going home tonight. only 30 more minutes! :scared:

Just a guess, but I bet by next week, everybody will get to sing TWO songs......

I am getting very nervous! I don't know if they will break it down into two groups of 3 or not. Here is my guess...

Group 1
Chris
Elliott
Taylor

Group 2
Katharine
Kellie
Paris

Hmmmm, boys and girls. Very interesting! Anyway, I think that the bottom group will be Group 2, the girls. I really couldn't tell you if it will be Kellie or Paris. I really hope that it's not Katharine, because I am a HUGE fan! ;) Even before the whole dress thing!

I looked back at Kellie's performance last night and I felt so sad for her. She just knew that she wasn't connected to that song. She seems to be trying to be what everyone else wants her to be. In the beginning she was herself. But now she doesn't know who to be, and it has cost her. Just my two cents! :)

Well, 1st: I also rewatched the Katheryn "malfunction"? and I have to say I do think it was intentional. True, she pulled her dress AFTER the button popped, but she also moved her hand ever so slightly upward BEFORE, causing it to pop in the first place! Besides, why would she pull her dress AFTER if the button popped unexpectedly? Wouldn't she instinctually try to cover up? Geez, even Janet Jackson did that! :lmao:

2nd: I don't really care! I thought she did great last night, and the judges were WAAAAY off base! Even so, I love Chris the best. GO, CHRIS!!!! :cheer2: And.... PLEASE go, Kellie! :wave2:

Hiya, a teeny bit of Disney trivia related to this week's episode.

If you've been to Epcot for the Christmas decorations, you've heard David Foster's music.

About 2/3rds of the music for Lights of Winter (The lighted trellis between Future World and World Showcase) is off his cd A Christmas Album.
