American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread** Part 2

I always find it amazing when people say that they can't stand Paris. I guess people really find it annoying for a 17 year old to be nice, respectful and confident. She isn't cocky, she just knows that God has blessed her with a talent and she won't apologize for it. That "something" about her that people say annoys them, is just self-confidence. I can only hope that my DD-9 will grow up to be so confident. Oh, she can sing her non-Beyonce having butt off.
The "something" that annoys me about her is not self-confidence. I don't think she's cocky, and I do think she has a nice voice. That said, I simply don't like her. I don't know why -- I just don't.

And it still bugs me that when Ryan asked her if it felt good sitting in the safe seats even though she was the only one, she kicked her legs up in the air and yelled, "IT DO!" (instead of "it does"). That just really bugs me -- but I didn't like her even in the auditions...

I might be wrong, but I think you are misreading what the article said. I'm reading it to say that Bucky is getting all of Carrie Underwood's personal votes - as in she is personally voting for no one but Bucky.

Oooooh! My bad!

:lmao:

I completely agree. She just gets on my nerves and I think it's her age. I just can't relate to her. And when she said "IT DO", I wanted to smack her and tell her that obviously she didn't need to be on stage at AI. She would be better served in an English class.

:teeth: The only reason I thought you were reading it wrong was because I initially had the same reaction as you. I was thinking how in the heck does Carrie Underwood know who voted for her last year and who they are voting for this year. Then I read it again and had that a-ha moment.

Well, I have read all the comments from last night on about 5 different message boards. The conclusion is that no one agrees on who had the best or worst performance or even the ones in between. Usually, it is quite easy to see who did a very good job and who is in danger of leaving but not tonight.

I have seen Bucky as the best and the worst.
I have seen Katharine as the best and the worst.
I have seen Kellie as the best and the worst.
I have seen Elliott as the best and the worst.
I have seen Paris as the best and the worst.
I have seen Chris as the best and the worst.
I have seen Mandisa as the best and the worst.

So, tonight should be interesting.

That is so not true. She wowed me in her audition...but hasn't done a thing for me since then. Last night was the best I've seen since the audition..but still didn't floor me...but my DD's liked it and they are the right age group for the buying public. I don't think she is cocky at all. Sefl confidence in a person sure doesn't annoy me at all. I hev tons of it myself! I just feel she is rather limited in what her voice sounds good singing...top 40 music isn't it. Last night had too many yeah, yeahs; whoa's and non singing in it for me. Her dancing was nothing I haven't seen out of my own daughters.

edited to add: I don't know Paris, so my opinion is based On her stage presence and singing ability. So if I would say "I can't stand" I would say "I can't stand the way Paris sings" I am not talking about her personally.

Nancy - I think you are right on about Paris...at least for me....I loved her audition, but so far she has done little else for me.

I just checked dialidol and am surprised to see who's at the bottom. I really don't think that's accurate do you all?

I hope dialidol is off this week. I don't want to see the bottom 2 go yet. And last place...no way.

What surprises me more is who is in 2nd place way up at the top!

Melissa and Kevin were both in the 4th from last place when they got booted.

Found this on another board and copied it - I don't know who Nigel is but he's talked about a lot on the message boards.

nigel interview here's the link:::

http://www.tvweek.com/docs/Idol_3_29.mp3 (take out spaces)

Nigel says it will be more shocking than the 3 divas from season 3.

So, whomever this person is thinks the bottom three will be more shocking than the 3 divas from season 3.......hmmmmmmmm.......I think people who haven't been in the bottom three will be tonight.

Oh, the suspense!!!

I didn't watch last year all that much, was last year the one with the girl that sings Kerosene? The one before with George in it was pretty good. This year looks good too. I caught a bit of it last night.

You didn't miss much last year, it was pretty bad. Miranda Lambert from season 1 (she came in 3rd) sings the Kerosene song. The girl that won last year is named Erika Jo, I haven't heard of anything from her since, she was pretty generic sounding. The one with George was good, I thought he should've won, Brad (The Keith Urban wannabe) even got dropped from his label after he won, rumor is he was a real cocky jerk. This year is pretty good, I still think the first year was the best though.

I'm guessing Ace, Katherine and Paris. That would sure shock me.

My $.02 on the 21st century...

Just wanted to say something about your $.02 in your signature. A friend of mine sent me an untitled burned CD of Marc Broussard and let me figure out who it was- pretty easy when you Google a line or two from a song and it comes up. Anyhoo- I cannot stop listening to his stuff. He rocks!

Since, supposedly the results tonight will "Shock the Nation" according to Nigel, I am predicting that Mandisa is in the bottom three and maybe even gets the boot.

I don't think Ace or Lisa or Bucky would shock the nation.

Paula Abdul's contract for American Idol has been extended for three more seasons.

I think it's Ace - his fan base is HUGE - like Constantine last year and we all remember what happened to Con :sad2:

**my boy Bucky wouldn't be a shock so I'm hoping he's safe for another week**

I can't help but wonder if it's Katharine. I know that she's been the front-runner, and that would make it "shocking," as Nigel says. Plus, she's one of Nigel's favorites. We pegged her as the overall winner since the beginning, so this isn't a "We don't like her, so we'll say her."

I think it's someone that hasn't been in the bottom 3 so far and someone that really has been doing quite well through the competition.

:rotfl: The drama and scandal continues :rotfl:

I don't know why she always seems to have so much turbulence in her life during AI tapings. I don't get why she's become such foder for the tabloids either.

But Ace has already been in the bottom 3, so it really wouldn't be a shock anymore.

Maybe Mandisa, Katharine and Ace are in the bottom 3?

I'd really only be shocked if Taylor, Chris and Kellie were in the bottom three since those are the chosen ones.

No, but it would be a SHOCK if Ace went home.
