American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread** Part 2

Am I the only one who thought that she would be the one to go out of that group? She was the weakest singer of the three IMO last night & the week before was much worse.

I agree, I did not like what she sang last week at all. She is not one of my favorites, but I think that some of her other performances were way better. I really liked when she did "I'm Every Woman." That was good.

Not really a big surprise in this house, however, DH and I think that Mandisa sounded a lot better tonight than last night.

Well here's the first shock of the season. :sad2:

There is no way that she deserved to go home tonight. I agree that she should have been in the bottom 3 just to give her a wakeup call. All she had was one bad performance, other than that she's been amazing! There's just no way she should be going home before people like Ace and Bucky. I even had her to be at least top 4.

Anyways I think that she can get a good career out of this. She has a very powerful voice and she's also beautiful. Maybe we'll see her on broadway.

Wow, I didn't think Mandisa would win, but she certainly should have lasted longer than at least three of the ones still standing. :sad2:

I am heartbroken.

I didn't care for her song last night (but most of them weren't great IMO) but she has so much talent. I hate to say it but I think some people are just prejudice because she is a big woman. I'm not saying that to be mean in any way, but I think we can all admit to knowing that large people are often pre-judged because of their size. :( I hope we haven't heaar the last of Mandesa.

I was thinking the same thing. She is so very talented, I hope we havn't heard the last of her. I didn't like her song choice for the night either, but I don't think she was the worst of the bunch.

I totally agree... she's a very good singer, just not a good choice of songs sometimes. I didn't think she'd go yet, I figured she'd be around for a few more weeks. Mandesa will make it big, she'll have all sorts of offers very soon. I thought Paris would go tonight.

I like Elliott, but think he'll last a few more weeks too... probably Paris or Ace next... although I'm looking forward to Bucky singing Queen! Taylor & Chris will do well next week!

I am sitting here alone in shock. I can not believe it.

You are not alone. :sad2:

Personally, I think Kenny Rogers was a bad choice for Country Week. When Barry Manilow was one, I thought he really helped each one of them--giving instructions, constructive criticism etc. and made their songs better! I thought Kenny Rogers just didn't do that for them. What a disappointment.

I am so disappointed that Mandisa is going home.

I voted for her over & over last night, & unfortunately, I got through every time. That was the first sign that she may be in the bottom 3, but I really didn't think she'd go home. I thought Elliott or Paris would go home before her.

I actually thought her & Chris would be the final 2 standing. :confused3

I was unable to watch tonight. Who was in the bottom three? I hate to see Mandisa go. Loved her voice!

She has a much better voice than the song choice....I hope to hear her on the radio one day!

A LOT of Queen songs will work great for Taylor! I Want To Break Free, Save Me, Somebody to Love...

REgretfully my Queen fan status is limited to Bohemian Rhapsody and We are the Champions. :guilty:

not too familiar with the rest of Queen and am not picturing my soul patrol man to come on back.

but given his illness--he did pretty durn good last night in retrospect.

Wow :sad2:

I had Mandisa in the top five at least...I knew she wouldn't win, but I think she has one of the best voices of them all. Very sad. I know Taylor has the whole personality thing going as well as talent - and he is one of my top choices - but he did just as terrible a job last night as Mandisa so how does he end up in the top group and she gets kicked off out of the blue? This is my first season of AI...I don't wanna play anymore!!! I like everyone and it's so sad - know it'll just get worse!

That's one of the bad things about this show. You really do get emotionally attached to some of the contestants and it's really hard to see them go....especially when it's way before they should be leaving! Unfortunately every season there are a few weeks where it is shocking as to who goes home. This was the first of this year, and probably not the last.

Although, I have to say, I don't think anything has come even close to being as dissappointing as Clay not winning in Season 2. I seriously have to keep reminding myself that he didn't win. You'd think he did, based on sales for their albums. Even though he didn't win, he proved that he was the best of that season, seeing how well he has done. I don't even remember the last time I heard of Ruben. :confused3

so who was the bottom 3?

Paris, Elliot and Mandisa...with Paris being the first back to safety and Mandisa going home.

Here ya go - Click here and you can hear samples of the more popular Queen songs.

You probably have heard "I want to break free" and don't realize it. Coke uses that song in their commercials for C2

He sang the national anthem at a minor Inaugural Event this year. other than that--it is Ruben who? Ryan was the bigger star that night--at least i think he was there. I was sooo cold that I can't remember. I only remember Ruben b/c it was like---ohhhhh...so that's where he's been. :teeth:
