Dream on. WHat's a fourth place finisher done yet? Oh, yeah. NOTHING.

In fact, with the exception of Clarkson, I wouldn't say the first place finishers have distinguished themselves either.

And I absolutely cracked up upon hearing that Chris was so universally disliked by the people who worked on the show, there was a rumor that the producers just removed him, instead of actually counting the votes. LOL!
Wait and see. Chris will do so much better! Again,he will far surpass Taylor. I don't base Chris on past American Idols or runner ups. He will be the exception. Too many people liked him. Even Ellen on her talk show told Chris to call him if he ever needed anything. He will go real far!!!!

Have you heard of Josh Gracin? He was 4th place and he is doing very well in Country music.

No matter who wins or loses, if the material that they are given to record is crap, then they won't do well. It is pretty simple.

I think Kat may have a chance at winning after all. Most of the people I know either love Taylor or hate Taylor. If they love him, they have been voting for him all along. If they hate him, they probably aren't going to start throwing votes his way just because Elliott is gone. People don't seem to be so black and white about Kat, she will probably pick up a lot of Elliott votes from the Taylor haters just by being the lesser of two evils. :confused3

I think you are right. Taylor should make sure that during the final, he reaches out to all fans to vote and not just the soul patrol, soul patrol.

Kudos to Richmond, VA. The amount of people showing their support for Elliott was incredible. At first I thought the stadium was probably only partially full and then they spanned the entire area. Unbelievable!

I felt sorry for Kat having to watch Taylor and Elliott's hometowns give them so much support. I guess that will never happen in LA. :guilty:

I'll be hoping that Taylor wins. I think Taylor would be a blast to see in concert. Kat is great when she is good and terrible when she is bad. She is inconsistant but I am sure someone could help her with that because she has a lot of talent. I'm hoping that someone out there really liked Elliot and will transform into the most that he can be. There is just something about him that touches my heart.
I was a Chris fan. And I think Chris will go on to do just fine. I'm thinking his music, for the most part, won't be my style, but I think he'll do well anyway. He just has what it takes.

The problem with Taylor is he brings it all to the camera. His voice is okay but that changes when he is in a studio. His voice will be what people hear. Chris didn't have to dance or make love to the camera. His voice had the edge and that will get him far. He is the only one I could honestly say I would buy his cd. I bet he will far exceed Taylor in the end.

His voice is precisely why I like Taylor so much and why I think most of his fans like him so much. The fact that he loves his music and it shows on stage is just an added bonus but the real reason I like him is I like his voice and his choice of music.

I think its funny how so many people on this thread have given their opinion as if its fact. Lets face it, each one of these competitors has their fans -- the voting population alone tell us that. I think its fine to have favorites, but give credit where credit is due -- each of these competitors have talent and their own niche......

Does anyone believe that Kat actually has a chance to win this thing??? I feel like we're just going through the motions now.

Does anyone know what time the results show airs on Wednesday?????

Like "bicker"?...

agnes!

Whaddya know...I'm Chris Daughtry! Uh, doy....he is my favorite Idol EVER. The quiz was a little laughable because the question choices were SO polarized that you could totally tell which Idol they were thinking of when they picked each answer.

Anywho, I am ecstatic that Elliot got the boot last night :goodvibes . Not to be cruel, but I honestly can't stand his voice, his looks, or his moves. Add on to that the fact that I am still bitter about Chris. Oh well! GO TAYLOR!

So next week will Taylor and Kat have to sing "the song"? The one that IDOL wrote specifically for the winner? Hopefully the song writers figured that the finalists could likely be "unconventional" like Taylor (or Chris) and didn't write something totally lame.

What else do they get to sing?

This has been a problem with Taylor. He has failed to gain new voters. His margin of vote percentage has been decreasing with each week. He is still the top vote getter (Whoo!) but other contestants are inching closer and closer because he has failed to draw new voters. His Soul Patrol, me included, has been pushing him through. In this regard, he is extremely lucky that he connected with the Soul Patrol voters early in the competition or he would never had made it this far.

Honestly, I don't know what he could do, if anything, to change this. Taylor has been the most diverse performer (this is true, even if you don't like Taylor), yet if he hasn't attracted new fans leading up to this point and I doubt he will with just one performance show remaining. It will depend upon how dedicated the SP is with their voting. Voting for 4 hours straight is a big commitment no matter how strongly you feel about someone.

Regarding the statement that Taylor is a good performer but not so good in the recording studio: listen to his CD. AARGH, this statement angers me, LOL! Do a little "footwork", there is a radio station website (www.wbhm.org/Tapestry/bands/TaylorHicks.html) where you can download 3 of Taylor's tracks (with his permission). Listen to them before judgment. You may not like his style of music, but to say he couldn't cut an album that people would like (in general, not necessarily you, the reader) ... :confused3.

BTW: That was an original song Taylor was singing at the mall during his hometown visit.

OK, I feel better ... sorry ... I  Taylor!

I love Taylor! That said, I'm worried! I don't like that the producers won't reveal who came in second place last night - what's the secret? A fix?

I love his voice, I love to look at him. He has such a great personality and voice. If Kat pulls this off, I don't think I could bear to watch next season.

FINALLY!!! An AI finale where I like both of the singers! :) I didn't like Justin, Rueben, Fantasia, or Bo. I will be happy no matter who wins next week. One thing to remember is that once this competition is over with they wont be singing songs by Wonder or anyone else who doesn't make music that they sound good singing. KWIM? That is the one thing I don't like about the competition. If they were able to choose their own songs each week instead of going with a theme that is outside of what they do best...more of the competitors would sound good more often.

Also, Kelly isn't the only one who has done extremely well after the show. Carrie has done great this past year! She has received music awards from her first CD and will probably get more next week at the ACMA. The bad thing is that she probably wont be able to perform at the AI final show like other prior winners because she will be attending the awards show.

Hopefully I haven't conveyed in my posts that I think that any of the final 5 didn't deserve to be where they were. Actually I was pretty happy with the final 10! :) I'm just a fan of one in particular, and I don't like to see that person beat up. I wish Taylor and Kat, and all the past contestants the best of luck in their careers! ;)

WOW!!! Great post!! :worship:

Well, obviously I am very pleased with how last night's elimination went. I do want to say that Elliott seems like a sweet kid, and I'm happy for him that he got to experience the 'hometown lovefest" before his elimination, regardless of how undeserving I believe he was from a pure performance perspective. I still don't think he's got any chance of having a successful recording career, but he seemed like a nice enough guy last night that I at least hope I'm wrong about that.

As for the finals...

Taylor - While I am still convinced he will win this thing, the vote percentages last night definitely put a little more doubt in me about that. Taylor just seems to be such a polarizing performer - people either love him or hate him, with very little middle ground - that I'm not sure how many of Elliott's votes he will pick up. He needs to really nail next week's vocal performances if he wants to convince new people to vote for him. That said, the Soul Patrol will be dialing their little fingers off, and I'm not sure Kat has that kind of loyal folllowing.

Kat - She was fantastic on one performance this week, great on another, and average (at best) on the last (which was the first). It's that kind of inconsistancy that could doom her next week. At the same time, if she were to put in three performances at the top of her game, she could actually pull the upset that I would have thought impossible just about a month ago. I think she will get a large portion of the non-bitter Elliott voters (the ones not blaming her for his ouster, or making up things about her out of some kind of misguided jealousy), as her style is closer to his than Taylor's is. She'll also get a pretty big chunk of the "we just don't get Taylor" voters, and there are certainly plenty of them out there But she needs to be on the top of her game...or I won't vote for her at all.

Performance: Big edge Taylor

Vocal: Edge Kat

Song Selection: Slight edge Kat (Mostly because the generic "Idol" song that they always sing the last week will fit her style better than his)

Live Audience Support: Edge Taylor

Rabid Fan Support: Big edge Taylor

Who I'll Be Voting For: Toss-up (Completely depends on next week's performances)

Well, he will gain my votes next week. I voted consistently for Mandisa until she left. Then I quit voting. Well............I voted for Bucky a few times, but not consistently like I did for Mandisa. However, when I started to see how much Elliott was improving (IMO) and how he was putting his whole heart into his performances (again, IMO), I started voting for him. To me, he deserved my votes. So I have been voting consistently for Elliott for several weeks now. Now that he is gone, Taylor will get my votes. I don't think I will vote for 4 hours, but I will vote for 2 at least.

I think you will be wrong about that. I predict Elliott will be this year's Clay Aiken and will continue to have a very loyal following.

Ok, I too am sick of hearing about how Taylor is only fun to watch and not a good singer. People have to listen. When Ace was around people were falling all over themselves because of his falsetto. Not one word about Taylor's amazing falsetto the last 2 weeks at least. His range - the notes he can hit. And so sweet to listen to. For some of us, at least.

And as for being "just" a good entertainer, as if it didn't matter. Please! It matters a lot. More than anything. It'll bring in the concert bucks for both Chris and Taylor. Kat, she'll do shows too, but I personally will not pay 100 bucks to watch a pretty girl stand on stage and sing pretty songs. That's for TV. You better get me all-worked-up-excited for me to bother coming out to your shows!

I believe Chris and Taylor, especially, will achieve a decent level of success, but in two very different camps. And that's O-K-A-Y.

One more thing - "Making love to the camera????" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ...um, not acting like that he's not!
