American Idol, Season 5 **Official Discussion Thread** Part 2

DH just used the Pop tarts code to get DS and me tickets. We got lower bowl seating, row 5, in a section adjacent to the section directly in front of the stage (if that makes sense). We thought they were pretty good seats for our price range, although with all the fees ... YOWSA!

So, I'll be seeing Taylor ... now all I need is a Soul Patrol tee shirt!

That's great that you decided to go! Sounds like you got very similar seats to mine- kind of next to the stage, but on first level, row 6. I would never get floor seats with my 10 year old. One tall person and his night is ruined. There were a few contestants that we liked and DS loves Chris, so I expect it'll be a real good time.

We're actually going to make shirts. DS is artsy crafty and I'm BROKE after those prices. He's still young enough to pull that off!

I figure that if Taylor wins, we may see a solo tour this winter. If he doesn't, it'll be next year this time. But now, since last night, it's definitely something we can look forward to!

Thanks, ckay. It was taken out of my hands, DH bought them. I'm excited but feeling guilty. I always have buyer's remorse, LOL!

I kept telling him I'd wait for a Taylor only tour but who knows if that will happen.

Does anyone know what the song choice format is for next week?

I can guarantee you that it will happen. I have never been so sure of anything. He'll definitely do a CD whether he wins or not. He'll be obligated to take it on the road. Plus, this is one of those performers who you are going to have the opportunity to see live a lot. It'll be real....and it'll be fun.

Well, this is the first year I'm really hooked on the show, but I believe that in past finales, each contestant does that one song that's written for the show. Then last year Bo and Carrie had the chance to perform with their favorite bands (Rascall Flatts and Skynard, right?) Then there was more. I guess the answer to your question is....I don't know. :)

Here's an update from Carrie Underwood's myspace for those interested.

What codes are people using *today* to access the seats available? We live nearest the Verizon arena in DC, btw. I think our public seats don't go on sale until this Saturday (05/20).

I haven't been to a concert in ages, any hints on getting tickets would be greatly appreciated :teeth: .

agnes!

Today you can try the Pop Tarts presale code: CRAZYGOOD

or in some places the internet presale code: AMERICAN

Thanks for the Pop-tarts code. I did try it & the Pre-Sale seats that were coming up for the Verizon Center weren't that good - 2nd Tier back in the corner, Section 211 (I think).

The "AMERICAN" code won't work for the Verizon...at least I couldn't get it to.

agnes!

I'm getting crap seats from using the code (2nd level like row 20). Should I just want and try again or will they just get worse?

Ok guys, I'm so bummed that the AI tour is coming NO WHERE NEAR TEXAS - why on earth would they leave the great state of Texas OFF the Idol tour this year???? :sad2:

Just read the list of accomplishments Carrie has had in the last year and all I can say is WOW!!! :thumbsup2

From my expericence last year - wait and try first thing when they go on sale later this week - when I tried to get tickets last year during the pre-sale - they weren't offering the best seats by no means.

I'm in section 134 (first tier) row L in Louisville, KY. Almost dead center on the sides. I'm pleased, and DH said he was "looking forward" (not excited, but not totally freaked out that I'm dragging him to it, etiher) to the concert.

ETA: AMERICAN wouldn't work for me, either.

I agree! Even if they came up to TMS, I could bunk in with DS, who livesin Denton. Or if they came down to San Antonio-Road trip!!! But right now, they're nowhere near us.

Does anyone know the number for the pop tart presale? ;)

I typically default to "I believe..." and "I think..." but if replying to someone I will respectfully adopt their manner of posting.

Best we could find was section 1L row H.

Not surprised with this being the home town of a top three contestant and knowing how much the big companies in town were behind him. I'm sure they bought out all the close floor tickets (well, them and the radio stations). Maybe we'll get lucky and win better tickets in one of the many I'm sure will come contests.

Obi-Wan Pinobi,

That was cool how you pasted in the arena.

I finally got tickets this morning! We got tickets for Hartford, CT, section 4, row E. A little farther than we wanted to travel, :car: but at least we're going. :rockband:

After Chris got the boot, I swore I wasnt going to vote.
But for the finale, I am going to throw all my votes to Katherine.
I am so sick of hearing Taylor say "Soul patrol" after every song.
Yuck, shut up already.
Maybe my votes can add a little suspense to the evening.

Go Katherine!

I wanted to post a couple of things from the American Idol Extra episode that ran last night:

They interviewed Nigel who admitted that this final was not what he expected. He really thought that Chris would be in the final. He was asked what could be expected in the finale and he said, "Lots of live performances, with the emphasis on 'Live' when it comes to Chris." So I'm guessing that Live will be making an appearance on the finale.

In Elliott's exit interview he mentioned that he had lost his voice from the homecoming. He had talked to SO many people and was screaming and yelling. He didn't feel that his voice was all the way back in time for Tuesday. He also mentioned that he wasn't really comfortable singing "Open Arms". He thinks it's a great song but it's just not for him. He admitted that he reversed the lyrics and was surprised that he didn't get called on it by the judges. He was asked which of the contestants he had gotten close to and I was surprised that he barely mentioned Ace, when it's been reported that the two of them had gotten very close. He kept talking about Bucky, Chris and Taylor (whom he referred to as "TayTay", claiming that's what they all call him  ). Surprisingly, he said he'd gotten pretty close to Sway and has spoken with him quite a few times and they're getting together in a couple of weeks.

The last item I'll report on was pretty funny. They had asked the final three contestants what was the last thing they do before they go on the stage for their performance.
Elliott said he goes over his song in his head one more time, which sounds like a good idea to me.
Katharine said she just breathes, also a good thing. Calming.
Then they got to Taylor, who said he reminds himself not to go too crazy out there. Uhh Taylor, it's not working!
