1 - I don't remember Stevie saying anything glowing about Elliott (any more so than about anybody else, I mean, and you always have judges that praise everybody, regardless...which has about as much validity as Paula's drugged ravings every Tuesday). But then, I seem to recall referring to Stevie night as "The Night Of Overplayed, 30 Year Old Songs", or something to that effect, so maybe I've blocked it from my memory.

3. I don't mean to be "mean" about Elliott. I don't have anything against the dapper little bridge troll. I just really dislike his voice, and think that sympathy votes (people voting because of how much he's improved, for example) are all that keeps him around. Yeah, he's improved since the competition started. But "improvement" does not get him into the same class as the other finalists. Singing on key just doesn't get it done, as there are probably millions of people out there that can do that. Shoot, I can do that, but I'm a terrible singer. I don't have any real quality in my voice that makes it pleasant to listen to. I can sing simple melodies just fine. But that doesn't qualify me for a recording contract...just like singing on key but with the appeal of a billy goat (hence the name, "Goatboy"...though I can see that with Chris as well, even though his isn't as prevalent due to the power and emotion he puts into his voice with it) shouldn't qualify Elliott.

It really isn't personal. The only thing I know about the kid is that he's a high school dropout from Richmond, so why would I have anything personal against him? I just happen to think that he has very little singing talent, and has zero chance of being a successful musician in the marketplace. There are literally dozens of acts out there that do what he would do, and do it with more style and appeal.

Just my opinion.

I was just coming here to post that Robin! I watched the clip and saw him boogying his nerdy little british butt off when Taylor went by! He did the same thing when Taylor was singing "Play That Funky Music White Boy" too. He was giving Paula a run for her money!

Maybe Simon should loosen up a bit like Nigel.

Oh, and Eric - I was going to invite you to Richmond this Saturday. Elliott is singing the National Anthem at a Richmond Braves game. Guess I shouldn't make up the guest room for ya, huh?

Well, it's not ONLY sympathy votes keeping him around. I vote for him because I LOVE his voice. Out of all the contestants, I would only buy his album, and maybe Chris', depending on what kind of songs he puts on it.

This whole Elliot "fighting" thing on ths thread reminds me on when John Stevens was on the show. I wrote on my blog how painful he was to listen to and how I wish the little girls would stop voting for him because he just seemed tortured to be there. One of my friends, who I had let crash at my place many times, was so insulted by what I said that she stopped speaking to me for a year. People get a little bit too attached to these contestants. They need to not take the criticism so personal.
