I went into tonights show believing I wouldnt know many or even any of the songs that would be performed. The final tally was 2, possible 3 out of ten. So I decided to just listen to the pitch and rhythm. Even when you dont know the song, you can still have a pretty good idea of when someone is in tune. I also took into consideration how they looked on stage and whether they were making a connection with those watching in my house. Lets face it, someone could come out and clean a toilet for the Idol audience and theyd be jumping up and down. Heres my take on what stands out on the worst show Ive seen in my two years of watching AI.
Lisa: Way too much song for this girls voice and I had written than down last night before Simon said it to her at the end of her performance. So this is what Kelly Clarkson sings?? Maybe it was the way Lisa presented it but, ewwww, what a terrible piece of music.
Just dreadful all the way, she gets a

Kellie: I was hoping for another blow me away performance from her like last week but instead got a cutsie offering that did nothing to remind me of the great voice she showed us in the last show. I mean, Suds in the Bucky, erm, Bucket, really, who cares? I like country music but if you want to win this show, you dont sing something like that. Pitchy in spots and perhaps a bit too low for her voice, still she looked a lot better makeup and hair wise than last week, I gave her a

Ace: At last, a song I was familiar with. Well, Ive heard it at least once or twice. Unfortunately all I could think of when he took the stage was what the Hell happened to his hair! It looked like he had time warped back to the 1920s when they use to make spit curls with bobby pins! Once I got over that shocking transformation and settled down to listen to the song, I was more or less under whelmed. An OK but not great performance and thankfully not falsetto.
Just OK with me dude, I gave him a

Taylor: Taylor came out onstage looking like a star for the first time this week. Hot! Hot!! Hot!!! The song, on the other hand, was lukewarm. Singing Trouble, it pretty much lived up to its name. Not a terrible piece but another that just left me looking for something positive to say. This morning Im still looking. More under control than in all the other weeks combined, Paula was right on with her observation on how it was nice to see him just stand there and sing.
Not because it was this good but because it was so much better than the other performances of the night, Taylor gets an

Mandisa: Every week Ive raved about what a great voice I think she has as long as she keeps the screaming at a minimum. My dismay was huge when she came out and nearly screamed an entire song. While Im all for making a joyful noise unto the Lord, this was just too much. Little to no melody and way too many theatrics just turned me off.
Mandisa has been in my top three nearly every week but not this time, she gets a

Chris: For only the second time this season, I had to mute a performance. This was the same thing weve seen from him in all the weeks except the Dead or Alive one. Screaming, the mad face, the whole angry young man persona, Im just tired of it all. I was happy to see that for the most part the judges werent any more taken in by his theatrics than I was.
Copping the lowest score Ive given this season, Chris gets a
1 and thats given as long as you show up.
Katharine: Can this girl get any more boring? Singy, singy, bouncy, bouncy and a strange outfit. I found her pitchy throughout most of the song. Really nothing more to say about that offering, I think I may have fallen asleep during the middle of it.
She gets a

Bucky: After all of these less than great performances, I was nearly in tears dreading the fact that Bucky would be next. Well, surprise, surprise, he sang a catchy tune that actually had me turning up the volume. While diction lessons would certainly help him, he was in tune and interesting to watch.
Certainly his best presentation to date, I gave him a
7.
Paris: Representing the Street Walkers guild, Paris looked as fresh as yesterdays trash. Sorry but I dont want to see a 17 year old telling me shes doing something young and fresh and coming out on stage like that. I will give her props for her voice though but she loses points for finishing the song 10 seconds after the band did.
She gets a
7.
Elliott: Its always a risk to do a song that was done the year before and especially by someone like Bo. Singing I Dont Wanna Be wasnt Elliotts best option. It was OK but just not great. I found his constant bobbing annoying and he seemed to lose the rhythm from time to time. But this was one of the better offerings on this dismal night so Elliott gets an
