American Idol: Season 11 OFFICIAL thread!

I noticed Jessica didn't hug either Elise or Hollie. I don't know if that was from nerves or if she is just really cold. She seems a little dazed from week to week. There really isn't a lot of personality there, which is what you guys have been saying. I see it too but I do think she is technically almost flawless.

each week jessica turns, goes back to the bleachers and hugs the ones over on the bench, the winner's side that is. she's all smiles, no worries.

i don't see her as cold as she hugs and jumps up and down like a teenager....

i see jessica as self centered and unable to be gracious to her competitiors.
there is more to being an american idol than singing.
maybe she'll catch on to how the game of life is really played.........

Agreed! NO personality! Even last night, when they were showing the footage of how close Joshua and Hollie are, she said "They're really close...it's weird..." Such a snotty thing to say!

Like Elise who worked like a dog at bars late at night... I'm sure Jessica was carted around by her caretakers. She doesn't even know how to speak.

16... an entertainer? You don't KNOW hard work chickadee. Come talk to ME about hard work. popcorn::

I'd appreciate her more if she had her own persona. Yesterday's song she even used Beyonce's way of speaking (ghetto Texan) and her inflections. I flinch when I hear them!! What's next? She'll marry a hip hop millionaire and have a baby?

Jessica should spend some time talking to Jennifer Hudson. There's somebody who grew up in a hard life and has had way more sorrow than anybody should have to bear. At 16 - no - she doesn't know what life is all about.

there was something in the way that Jimmy talked about singer-songwriter that just came across as a little insulting. it was almost like he was saying that they can't sing versus Jessica and Joshua who can. maybe i heard it wrong. it's just what i inferred from what he said (and those weren't his actual words--just my interpretation).

frankly, most of what i buy is singer-songwriter. not all, but most.

i think Jessica has probably had the opposite experience of truly working hard.

I wish they'd make people be 18 by the time the show airs. Isn't that how it used to be? They may as well change the title to Teen Idol.

I think next week we should all vote for everyone EXCEPT Jessica. Let's do our own "Vote against the judges' special snowflake".

soooooooo.....THAT was a piece of work tonight! Lordy, lordy, what a blatant insult to the contestants and viewers :sad2:
I had posted last night (and it went poof I guess during the updating) of how Jessica's 'tude during the interview with Hollie & Joshua was so bratty! Her Dad (or whoever they man was from her family in the audience) had the SAME indignant look on his face when it was down to Elise and Jessica and the panned on him in the audience, like, no worries, baby chez ain't going anywhere. The judges copped out BIG time with this whole set up to use the save-so they wouldn't be put in a position to use it on anyone BUT Jessica-what a waste of everyone's time tonight. Shame on American idol

On Thursday’s results show, Season 8 Idol winner, Kris Allen, will perform his new single, “The Vision of Love” and LMFAO will take the stage to sing “Sorry For Party Rocking.”

OMG my husband and I could only look at each other and laugh about this one. How fake and such a set up. How stupid do they think people are? It was all set up for drama and yes to use the save now in a dramatic way. And way to make the other contestants feel good. they as much as said they want Jessica to win

I'm joining the crowd of "I don't get Jessica". I've never heard her sing excellent. She's often out of breath and stonefaced. She doesn't seem to "feel" the songs, rather just sing them. She does have a lovely voice, she just doesn't know how to use it. (Same with Holli, lovely voice, needs mega voice lessons.) She should have gone home last night.

I agree, both these young girls need coaching on how to connect with the audience. Hollie I think is coachable, she seems very nice and likeable. Jessica is being hailed as the next greatest thing because of that big beautiful voice, I think the producers are overlooking the fact that she isn't connecting. Maybe that will change now that she was in the bottom 3. I think Joshua could probably use some help in this department too, although I personally love him and think he is adorable and his voice is fantastic. I think he is probably quite shy, and it shows.

The person who most connects with the audience is Colton. He's like a pro the way he looks at the camera at just the right moment. Skylar too. I'm so surrpised these young kids know to do that at such a young age. It's called star power, not everyone has it I guess.

I was quite surprised to see who were in the bottom 3 last night. I thought Hollie would be for sure. Then I thought for sure Elise would be the bottom, and the judges probably wouldn't use the save so I was really surprised when Ryan said it was Jessica! Wow! I liked her in the beginning, and loved hearing her sing "I Will Always Love You" and agreed with the judges that she was "the one." But then week after week I didn't care for the songs she sang, and she reminds me of Beyonce and I'm not a fan so I lost interest in Jessica and must be others did too if she didn't get the votes.

I thought it was terrible the way the judges fawned all over her, not even letting her finish singing before they jumped up on stage. Way too dramatic and needless. I felt sorry for the other contestants. :(

I hope Jessica goes home next week, let America "speak" again. I honestly wish they'd do away with the "judge's save." If a contestant doesn't get the votes, they go home, simple as that.

I still don't really have a favorite that I'm hoping to win. I like Colton and Skylar, and even liked Joshua this time (and normally I don't), and Hollie. I don't think I would buy any of their CD's, except maybe Skylar's. I don't care for many of the songs Colton sings.

I was disappointed with James Durbin last night too. I have his CD and it's really good, and I love the song he sang last night, but not the version he sang last night. It just sounded weird and nothing like on the CD. :(

Kris Allen next week....meh.

Ms. Chez, me thinks, has been working hard her whole ife...at being a Diva :rotfl: Seriously, I re-watched Wednesdays show and she Stu-stu-stuttered her sti-sti-stilettos...that was about it. I will give her props for impersonating Beyonce, however.

why isn't anyone being honest with her? she IS young. and i think that all of their lavish praise is just making her head bigger. surely Jimmy isn't that stupid and can see that her demeanor is a turn-off. they should know that music isn't just about the voice. her voice is too much of a copycat of other people anyway.

i just can't figure out why the producers are pushing her SO hard. haven't they learned that the AI viewers go against whoever they push? and surely they are not that stupid. they have to know how important the "x-factor" is when it comes to selling albums.

their two biggest success stories are SO much more than just voices. i found (for the most part) Kelly and Carrie to both be very likable. they were very "girl next door, down to earth" and not spoiled brat.

I am thinking that they (Idol) know she is not going to be a hot commodity money-wise and are doing the reverse-psych out intentionally to have her be sent packing while *presenting* the allusion that they had nothing to do with her elimination, America did. What's so barfy about it all is how much over-acting, praise , blah blah blah is being done on her behalf to try and pull off the whole charade. I mean, just nauseating. NOBODY is as good as the judges are saying  I said before, they know exactly the person she is and pretty sure it isn't a cutesy little wind-up doll. I imagine they want an easy-peasy money makere that will at least sell albums for the duration of their Idol contract. They know who has had the lasting power (Clarkson,Aiken, Underwood, Daughtry, Hudson) BB Chez doesn't have 1/2 the stage presence they have...closest maybe to Carrie Underwood, but even SHE comes across more alive on stage than Jessica. She may be 16, but she has (in her words) been doing this her whole life so she is no stranger to the stage/audiences etc. She repeats 2 aspects of ehr life over and over "I have been working hard and I love shopping" not a lot of personality there to draw from to project on stage. Never a word of friends, anything that might allow America to relate to her.

New to this thread, hope it's okay if I chime in ...

What I most hated last night was when Randy grabbed BB and kept saying, "This competition is about the BEST winning ... vote for the BEST!" :crazy2: Meanwhile, the camera pans over and there's Hollie with an absolutely stricken look on her face, as if to say "But America voted for ME, so why are you not fawning over ME like that?" :confused3

I thought it was horribly insulting to the other contestants to continue to proclaim BB's greatness in front of all of them. :headache:

A-men!! That is exactly how I saw it too. One of the most annoying American Idol shows ever. :rolleyes1

I think they've been unbelievably mean to Hollie and last night was the worse.

Stepping on someone's face to promote another is horrible, and they're doing that with BB.

What they did last night was take AI from being boring and mundane to becoming more controversial and polarizing than the Trayvon Martin case! I snuck over the official boards and people are literally UP IN ARMS!!!

So happy to see Jessica in the bottom three last night, so annoyed the judges saved her. I don't care how beautiful her voice is, she just irritates me. I couldn't help but FF through her song Wednesday night. I love the other contestants. Would be happy with any of them winning. Jessica needs to go home, and grow up.

robin - the AI boards?

Saving someone is fine - but have they ever gone up on stage like that? I mean come on....and I don't recall them stopping the singer in the middle - but I don't know.

Little OT, but does anyone know if you can eventually download individual sons from the performance? I went on Itunes last night but it only gave me the option of getting the album from the other night's performances.

I think Jessica, and then the rest of the girls are going to be gone each week after. Its just a gut feeling, because I think girls(teens) do most of the voting and I don't think they like voting for girls in general, even when they are the better singers.
