i don't mind hearing about the contestants. but i don't know why every story has to be somewhat sad.

bummer that there was only one from the top 40 on so far. i hope this isn't another season where we've barely seen the ones that get through.

ARGH...I hate how she's exploiting her hearing impaired child on Idol. That annoys me!!! My nephew is hearing and visually impaired and that just really ticks me off for some reason...and for the doctor to recommend her to terminate her pregnancy -- geez.

I tend to think it's the producers exploiting it and not the parent.

idk how i feel about 15 year olds doing this show tho....that's a LOT of pressure. i felt the same way about the 16/17 year olds too.....

Don't the younger kids get to have a chaperone with them? I think I remember David A's dad being really involved when he was on the show. But my memory is pretty bad, so I could be wrong...

Just got done with my three-hour Idol marathon (had to watch last night's episode tonight). I agree about the judges. I kind of like the new additions. Some of Steven's comments were quite interesting. LOL!

Nobody really stood out to me, but then again that's how it was last year and I ended up loving Lee. I can't wait for next week to see my hometown! But of course they would have to show people wearing cheese hats in the preview.

They are still living in a mansion together, exposed to things 27 year old are more than free to do that 15 year olds are not. I think they can have a chaperon up to a certain point and not after that-but like you, I don't remember for sure.

For legal reasons, I can't imagine them allowing the underage kids to be there parent-less. Then again, I can't imagine a parent being unwilling to allow their kid to follow a dream (having made it to that point in the competition) because they don't want them being exposed to some 20-somethings.

With cameras on then 24/7, what kind of shenanigans could they possibly get into??? Aside from the food fight they had in the kitchen one year.

Woooo! It's almost here gang. So let this be the official thread for the new season.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. After last season's complete waste of my time, and being a snooze-fest let-down, I can only pray that this season is somehow an improvement. I already miss Simon (and don't care for J-Lo) but I DO love Steven Tyler, so maybe there is hope. For me, it all comes down to the performers. The show doesn't live or die by the hosts and judges. It's about the talent.

So who else is going to tune in?

... I gues that I'm on board - who brought the 'kitty'????

i swear that Victoria Huggins girl was familiar. so, i looked her up. i'm pretty sure i saw her years ago at a Christian concert (it was over a weekend). they always have some young kid there that they let sing, to be nice. and i'm pretty sure it was her. i remember that talking voice and her face. she was younger then, obviously. but when i looked her up online, she has been singing at Christian things for many years. so, it's totally possible.

Yes underage - the parent has to be there. Allison Iraheta was the niece of someone who works at the same place I do and she had to have a parent with her.
