American Idol at DHS

7:00pm Finalist Show

Thank you Robo

I knew that you would know! Can we see (or ideally be in) the finalist show at 7pm will we have enough time to make Fantasmic show at 9pm? I was a little unsure how long the AI shows last. We will have our FDP ticket so we don't have to get in line for Fantasmic TOO early.

All bets are off this year for Fantasmic! timings.

With the 2 (or 3)-nights-per week schedule, many guests now arrive 2 hours before the start of the first (or only) show of the evening.

But WITH the Dining Plan, you can arrive about 45 minutes before show-time and get a seat.

The A.I. shows will last under an hour.

Just went for ESPN the weekend and did American Idol 3 times. Third time was for the final show of the day. The first 2 shows had 3 contestants the final had 7. I really enjoyed it.

Even found a hidden Mickey.

My dw did the AIE in January before it was officially opened. She had a blast and we were glad that she had the opportunity. She did audition, made it to the second audition which was the producer. From there if the producer likes you, then you move on. My wife did move on and was one of the three on the stage for one of the shows. Unfortunately she did not advance from there.

Some have stated on other threads that they have no interest because they feel this is nothing more than karaoke. When we were there all three on that stage were excellent and had no feeling as to being karaoke. With that said, it was a lot of fun but in the long run I don't think it's going to be a long lasting attraction.

Here's a few pics of my dw on stage.

Great photos of Carolyn on stage - is it like karaoke - do you get the words on a screen?

Yup.
Big screen with lyrics above the audience seating.

Rehearsal time backstage before the show, too.

PP, just wanted to make sure you know the FDP is only for the first show of the night, so it won't work for the 9pm show.

Sounds like if she makes it to the finale show, it might be worth it to skip F! this time! :flower3:

Not being sure of the dates in question... but, in general:

In the Summer, the 9:00 Fantasmic! IS the first (or only) show of the evening.

With Daylight Savings Time and longer days...
it just barely gets dark by 9pm as it is.

This will also cause IllumiNations to not be able to run at 8pm on Fridays in the Summer (as it has been doing this Winter.)

Only one Fantasmic the night we planned at 9pm (in May so not long now) - wish there were two showings - we used to love the second show - no crowds

We have now decided to do this on a different day now anyway as we didn't realise that the auditions were only in the morning - we had only planned to get there in the early afternoon as we also have a late Crystal Palace breakfast that day.

I guess if you can't sing or don't sing often then yes it would be like karaoke. However, most if not all of those on the stage already know the lyrics, don't need a highlighted word to keep time, or even look at that big screen above the audience.

So with that I would say Nope.

We just got back and I watched 2 11:00a.m. Idol shows. Both were good and had 3 contestants each. They were all talented but one girl certainly stood out amoung the six. Her name was Camielle (I think) and she sang "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and was very good. The British judge couldn't even think of anything bad to say.

It was fun but like a PP above, I don't see it being a long lasting show. Although, the show still airs and has a good following and for people who want are going to WDW and want to try out for Idol, it is an ideal situation, I think.

We were just there --

I saw a 2pm show and I performed in the 5pm and 7pm finale show.

The 2pm and 5pm shows were about 2/3 full -- but the finale show was packed. They had to turn people away.

Very entertaining -- even if you are not an AI fan.

How did you do? And what did you sing?

do you sing the whole song, or is it like on AI where it's a condensed version of the song?
