American Girl clothing ?????

I hope that someone here can answer this for me. My dd is getting her first AG for Christmas. She REALLY want an outfit to match her and of course she has picked one out of the AG book.

How do the clothing sizes run? I think that I heard they run small. She generally wears a 6 in gymboree, 7/8 in Kelly's kids, 7 in mini boden, 6x in Chez Ami and target clothes (hope that gives some of you an idea).

In my experience, it ran small to average size. I always felt that gymboree & hanna andersson ran bigger than average, so I would say it runs smaller than those two.

Sorry not to be more of a help. We ended up driving to the AG store in LA (a good excuse to go to DL for the weekend!) & buying the matching outfits there since I wasn't sure about the sizing.

Also, you can ask them when you call AG to order the clothes -- I found their employees to very helpful!

About 6 years ago I bought my DD matching pajamas for her & her doll. DD's pajamas were a "medium"....the BIGGEST "medium" I've ever seen. She never got to wear them before she outgrew playing with her AG dolls.

I think it partly depends on what kind of outfit you are looking to buy. My DD is about 50" tall and about 50lbs. She wears 6-6x pants and 7 tops/dresses at gymboree, and size 6 pants/7 tops at Childrens Place. She has an AG Samantha nightgown that her uncle gave her 2 birthdays ago that is a size Small that still comes down to her toes (I realize that would have been standard for the time period when Samantha lived) and the sleeves down onto her hands. She and I recently visited AGP Chicago and she bought herself an outfit which she tried on in the store. The long-sleeved shirt is a Small; the jumper is an "8" (the purple one that laces up the front) - I think the 8 fit because of the lacing; she had also tried on either a 6 or 7 but she felt it was too short so I let her get the 8 since it wasn't too baggy in the middle, plus it should still fit her next year
