American Express blue rewards

Do you think this is possible??

I have an american express blue card that when I signed up I got 30000 bonus miles after I made one purchase. I don;t keep anythign on the card. I have now 41000 miles. Which is about $500 in travel rewards. I am the main card holder and my husband is an authorized user.

I can book travel under american express website and use my rewards to pay for all or part of travel.

Can my husband have an amercian express card in his own name as the main card holder and can we use both of those travel rewards to pay for one reservation?? (we do not currenlty have one and would only make the one purchase one it and thats it)

I'm just trying to keep my travel costs down and wonder if this would work??

Maybe my reading comprehension is off this early in the AM, but I am not sure I understand what you are asking. Are you asking if your hubby should open his own account under his own name just for the 30,000 miles promo? If so, I vote no way. Not good for your credit score to start revolving the credit cards to take advantage of freebie promos. If that is not what you are asking, I am sorry. Maybe another hour or two and my brain will wake up more!!

If one reservation doesn't work, could you book 3 nights with his points and the other nights under yours? You might have to switch rooms but for a free hotel I'd consider it.

And as a Penn State season ticket holder since the early 90's, I HATE, HATE, HATE it. No, I respect the OSU program a ton. Many years ago one of our PSU players was paralized on the OSU field during a hit, Adam Taliafero. OSU fans, players, coaches, and medical folks were SO good to him and his family. They raised money for his treatments, showed him so much support, etc. After that I always have a special place in my heart for OSU.... even though it is still nice to beat them!! 13-6 this past year in Colombus, and we get you in Happy Valley this year. I think PSU wins agaiN!

Yeah I am thinking its not going to work...plus i am thinking the offer i orginally got 2 yrs ago was a special mail offer and i can't find another offer like it on the internet. Plus you are probably right about the credit. we have excellent credit but I would be using it once to close it and then I do want to eventualyl close my american express. Its not accepted everywhere like my visa is...so i really don't use it. Just need to keep it open until I do use my rewards.

We are doing a package deal because it is much cheaper that way as we cant to travel to jamaica...so that probably won;t work...thanks though.

I am not a football fan. but my husband is a die hard BUCKEYES fan! But he does think your coach needs to retire...how old is that guy anyways?? LOL!


Thanks for all of your replies but I don;t think its going to work...and its probably not worth it anyways. Oh well...I was just trying to save some money and make this a budget jamaica trip...and I sooo need a vacation before our WDW vacation (its been 2 long years and with work stuff...I am ready!)
