Do the American flights going cross country have tv's on the seats? I've flown American BOS to MCO and there's never tv's. Planning trip to Cali next year and the tv's are important on a 6 hour flight with kids! Thx

Last year, our short flight from PHL to MCO had tvs in the seats. I looked up the plane we were flying this year to FLL and it stated TVs in the seats, but didn't have them. I'm gonna guess its a crapshoot and just bring something to watch on (not an Amazon Kindle Fire because apparently that isnt supported o_O

It depends on the type of aircraft.

SeatGuru.com is a good sources of information about the features of each aircraft type in an airline's fleet.

There are sometimes different versions of the same aircraft type, such as variations of the Airbus A321.

Keep in mind that an airline can change the aircraft type between when you buy your tickets and your travel date. This could be an official schedule change or a last-minute aircraft substitution.

Keep in mind that these systems can and do break. They will fly the plane even if the inflight entertainment is broken. Bring something to do!
Never rely on the plane having screens or on the screens working.

It's more a luxury I would like to have for the kids on a long flight. I'm not relying on seat back screens entirely. They'll still bring kindles, stuff to draw with, cards, etc. Thx!!

Excellent. I once relied on Jet Blue having TVs, and then the TV at my seat didn't work. I had DS with cartoons on one side and DH with rated R stuff on the other side, and I couldn't really see either one even if I had been interested in either's shows. It was a LONG flight.

I expect security around bringing your own devices on planes to get worse before better. Many Europe to us flights you can't have laptops or tablets. While I appreciate the safety there it makes me wonder how it's safer intra USA flights to allow. Crayons coloring books card games are always allowed and readily avail at dollar or similar stores. And god help me if inflight entertainment is down and I can't bring tablets on the plane. 3 hours of whining - no thank you.
