Have seen a great price from American Airlines - £300 per person Dublin-Chicago-Orlando for mid-August.

Would appreciate any information/ hints if anybody has used this route recently.

Connection times look very tight - 2hour 5mins out-bound but only 1hr 20 mins coming back -will this be sufficient ?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Not used American Airlines from Dublin but we have used Continental and Delta. As it's a scheduled flight you will clear US Immigration in Dublin so all you have to do in Chicago is get your cases, go though customs, drop them off again and then make your way to the next gate. 2hrs 5mins should be plenty of time to do this. On the way home your cases are checked right through to Dublin so a shorter connection time is achievable.

I don't mind the indirect flight - it's the only option we have and it's nice to stretch your legs and get something to eat in between flights. When you arrive at Orlando you are classed as an internal flight so it's straight through to baggage reclaim and your off.

We've flown via Chicago with United and agree with Tink, nice to stretch your legs and again agree that its nice and easy when you're at orlando.
We've had as little as an hour to get through to the connecting flight and if you're running late they'll bump you up the line

Since the flights are "all on one ticket/itinerary", even if you miss your connection (although, as Tinktatoo says, those connection times SHOULD be sufficient) AA are required to put you on the next available flight anyway (so you may have a bit more inconvenience, but no extra cost if you miss your connection). Chicago CAN be dodgy in winter (bad weather connections), but in mid-August you should be fine.

The thing that is worth checking is that there are later AA ORD-MCO flights after your ticketed connection - so if your connection is missed, you know that you have a good chance of getting on a later flight (assuming it isn't already full). On the way back home, chances are that there is only one ORD-DUB flight a day - in which case, if you miss your connection, AA should put you in a hotel overnight at ORD.

Are you using an online booking tool to get this fare? If so, which one? Sometimes you can "play around" with it to get longer connection times - if that would make you more comfortable?
