k so I filed our taxes Feb 2nd and on Feb 5th I got a 1099 for 700 dollars my husband got as some sort of government death benefit from when his dad died. I dont know if thats all taxable or what but guess I need to do an amended return to account for that $$$. Now the irs has changed my original return amount they are giving us 800 more back cause they say we are eligible for the work to pay credit or something thAT I didnt take. So now how do I do an amended return when its all been changed but I dont have a COPY OF ANYTHING...ALL i HAVE IS MY ORIGINAL...THANKS:)

There is a form you fill out to amend your tax return. You don't need copies of your originals-they already have those :lmao:. If you did Turbo Tax or something, they have an option to do that from there. If not, look on the IRS.gov website for the form and fill it out. I think it is a one page deal. We got a corrected 1099 last week and I have to pick up my amended form at my accountant's office tomorrow.

You will be filling out an X-1040. If it turns out you owe anything do not send in any money the IRS wll bill you.

I had to do this years ago when I forgot a 1099. I sent them money and they sent it back. Two months later I got a bill.
