SATSUMA, Fla. -- The father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings asked his girlfriend to marry him over the weekend.
Ronald Cummings, 25, asked 17-year-old Misty Croslin on Sunday night at Chili's, according to firstcoastnews.com.
Croslin was with Haleigh on the night a month ago that she was reported missing.
"Everybody's probably going to take this marriage thing the wrong way but it's not," Croslin said in the article. "Everything's still focused on Haleigh. This is what Haleigh wanted. She's always talked about it."
Because she is 17, Croslin's family had to fill out the marriage license paperwork.
Meanwhile, Haleigh's family members said they will never again live in the mobile home where the child disappeared. And the tent where Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, and other family members have been living will have to move soon because it is not in a campground.
Haleigh's paternal grandmother, Teresa Neves, said it's hard walking back in Haleigh's bedroom and seeing her favorite toys. She said her son has been unfairly criticized and she doesn't blame him for not wanting to move back into the home. "You can look around and see the pictures of Haleigh, her movies, schoolwork," Neves said. "Haleigh's everywhere in this house."
Neves also said the family will continue to hold candlelight vigils for Haleigh until she comes home.
