Amazon/ Wimpy kid Cabin fever :(((

Mine shipped today, the invoice that came in my email said free shipping. I don't get why some of us are keeping it and others aren't. I don't have Prime and that was the only item I ordered on THAT order, although I did place a large order the same day (just prior) to that order I don't see how they can advertise it as free shipping (not free shipping for $25 and over) and then just not honor it to everyone who bought it under those terms.

I got the email yesterday that mine had shipped, and checked, and I got the free shipping; total cost for the book is $6.96 as it was originally discussed on here.

Just checked the tracking -- it arrived at the huge USPS place near us yesterday, was checked out of there this morning, which means...either today or tomorrow? For us, that's not a big deal, but what concerns me is that some of you are getting jacked around re. the shipping price.

I'd definitely call Amazon on that one.

I just got the shipping email this morning and it does have the free shipping on it. My credit card was also charged the $6.96 or whatever the book price was at that time. Not too concerned about the shipping time because it's a Christmas gift. She'll be excited to read it during holiday break.

This has happend to me twice. Both times for books and the expected delievery date was a week after the book was released in stores. Both times I cancelled and bought the book at Target. I think the release date on preorders is when Amazon ships it not when you receive it. This is a also why I did not preorder the kindle touch. I can buy one in staples tomorrow and not have to wait for one for a week in the mail.

And I have gotten books the day of release or once or twice, the day before.

So it is not that the release date is the shipping date. I just think in some instances they may have issues with inventory and things, causing a delay. I don't think all book pre-orders say they will be delivered on the release date, though, just some.

I had forgotten about this so I went online and checked the delivery status. They said it was delivered this morning. I went and checked and there it was!
I was not charged shipping, but I have Amazon Prime until the end of this month.

Now do I save it for DH until Christmas or let him have it?

We bought it last night at our school's book fair. They were almost sold out after being open for 1 1/2 hours, so I am glad we got it there.

I have no complaint about my pre-order. It came yesterday as promised and I tucked it away for DS for Christmas eve (they always get a book and new pj's to open Christmas Eve). One of the little girls I watch after school brought it home from her book club though. She asked ds if he wanted to read it together and of course he said "Sure!".

So I had to get really creative and try to come up with a good reason that we couldn't have reading time. Try to explain that one to 7 year olds.

"Ummmm, NO, I'd rather we didn't read.. let's play the Wii!!" They looked at me like I was nuts.

i feel your pain. i preorder for ds thru scholastic. it arrived in school today, but he had a substitute and she couldnt give it out. he said he stared at the box all day. oh well i just hope his teacher is back tomorrow

I pre ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and it was delivered yesterday. I have prime so shipping was free. It's a stocking stuffer for dd so I didn't need it right away...

Ours arrived today from Amazon which I was happy about. As of late last night it didn't even show shipped. Odd.

DS sat down and read it all after school. He'll read it over and over for a while atleast.

Edited to add update: Lo and behold, it shipped about 30 minutes after I contacted Amazon...and the ETA is tomorrow. I wonder if my chat session had anything to do with that or if it was pure coincidence.

Nope. CS has absolutely nothing to do with shipping. Different states (even countries). When i worked there, every once in a blue moon I could contact them to get them to STOP a shipment, but only if I was incredibly lucky AND got an employee that happened to be near the phone with extra time. But never to get something shipped.

The charge is what starts the shipping process, and it generally takes a day in the shipping process to get it out the door (or at least on a shipper's truck).

But when there are things like this going on, where most books are going to get out THAT fast, they aren't taking the time to update every step of the way, so it isn't always visible to the CS reps or the customers.

i also preordered with the free shipping. I got a notice that i had to update to credit card expiration date, and when i did, it took away the free shipping! I cancelled my order and when asked why i said i was told free shipping and now that are changing and that I will NEVER order from them again!

You could have just written them. They would have taken it off. What a weird thing to drop a business relationship for, especially with a company as good as amazon (I wouldn't have worked there, let alone continue to encourage my husband to work there, if I didn't love them madly).

I only noticed that the OP had an untouched order that isn't getting the free shipping.

any one who had this on order/ hold with Amazon? got an email that they're in stock now, but they're NOW not with free shipping.

? They offered it initially to free ship, but now they don't!

Did you actually have an order? Or had you clicked to find out when they were back in stock again? I'm glad that they offered you free shipping when you talked to them, but I'm not clear on if you actually had an order.
