As for the Weavers, they were much more mean spirited than the Linz's. I think Wally's comments about the Linz's being a testament to their parents at the end even proves that. The Linz's didn't make fun of the Paolo's father being a garbage man, they didn't make fun of the Godlewski's bleach blondes and fake ****s, they didn't insult the entire state of Utah. The Weavers did.
AMEN!!

My thoughts exactly!

For anyone who watched the CBS Morning show interview with the final 3 teams: Mama Weaver's hair looked just as bad as when she was running the race! I mean, I would expect it to look pretty crapy while they're on the road, but, she should have done SOMETHING to it for the big show!!

It bugged me that Wally's daughters treated him so disrepectfully.

I would never talk to my dad that way; it would hurt him terribly.

The Linz's were so strong and athletic, the playing field was just so uneven in this game that it was no fun.

I wanted to see EVERYONE with little kids, not just two token teams.

After watching the show the other night, and going on CBS.com and seeing some flashbacks, all I can say is Rolly is an amazing kid. He did those challenges great. He kept up with the 'bigboys' and had perseverance, heart, and is a great kid.

Did anyone NOT like the fact the stadium was a catching up point? I do kinda feel that it was unfair - I mean that the game was completley won when those cards were pulled.
The stadium would not have been a catching up point if the Weavers weren't so imcompetent. If they had found the door and had a strategy to their search they would have remained in the lead. It's not as if it were one of those places where everyone has to wait until a certain time for it to open.

The kids are the whole reason the tasks were so simple & then they got "kicked out" so early...we wouldn't have minded the easy tasks so much if it had been the Black family or Carissa doing them - KWIM??
They didn't get kicked out, they lost fairly. This race was designed so that the teams with kids would NOT be at a disadvantage and they weren't.

ITA!!! I was rooting for Rolly, not the 3 females in his family (annoying!). I do feel bad his mom said and expects that he is the "man in the family now". I was quick to nix talk like that about my then 13 Yr old DS when DH was in Iraq! People would say it and I would correct them. Poor Rolly. He is a great kid who WAS acting like the man in that family of children! :teeth:

I think fans laughed at the rude remarks the Linz said weekly, whereas it stood out coming from the Weavers.

I wish Rolly and Wally could be a team! :cheer2:

Probably like his dad. Certainly didn't come from the mom or sisters.

He was great, IMO the only reason they made it past the middle of the race.

You beat me to it. I was just going to say the same thing.

I disagree. Everyone had to wait for the morning to take their flight and those flights were only a few minutes apart. It really didn't matter that they drove around forever, except it made them grumpy.

The stadium was a catching up point regardless of what the Weavers had done (but in my opinion the additional tasks after the catch up time still made it a race). All teams flights left within 5-10 minutes of each other. Each team just took the first time they found so even the weavers being lazy might have still gotten them the first time. It just didn't work out that way. My question would have been if the Weavers still had not found the box before the departure time would their race have ended there or would they have just held the plane as opposed to it leaving at its prescribed time or wait (since it was chartered) until they did find the box or quit the game?

did anyone else notice that the Weavers were not wet on their boat ride? when they got the clue they were still dry - what's up with that?

I noticed that too

I have to say that while I did not like the Weaver's nor condone their behavior, I can guarantee you that the people they are now (or acting like anyway) is nothing like they were pre-Dad's death or anything like they will be in another year. Time really does heal wounds and sudden tragedies make us different people. Especially when the remaining parent is not the stongest.

First hand I can tell you about one of my brothers following my Dad's sudden death (he was 16 at the time) I thought for sure would fail out of school, he was rude, sarcastic and had that "I don't care attitiude" but it's been 3 years now and he's in college... making straight A's and has gone back to being that loving kid he used to be.

I realize they signed up for a show and did not behave the best but I think we should criticize THAT behavior in particular and not who they are as people.

Having said that - before I'm flamed too much I was and am Linz family fan. I thought the kids were great and loved how they played the game and am thrilled they won.

Sadly we will never know. I actually thought it might happen when they went to commercial and the girls were giving up and momma Weaver was asleep. I figured they would go to sleep and wake up without enough time to find the departure time card.

If the rules were written correctly, they would have been out for not completing the challenge. The whole point was the physical strain of finding the card. I'm surprised they even bothered looking on the bottom level. It seemed pretty likely to me that they would be in the upper section.

The Weaver mother kept saying that it would be in the bottom section because "they" would make it easy to find the clue. To me, that underlined a problem with the whole season. Things were easy to find; it was rare for anybody to get lost or confused at all. I know I harp on this a lot, but it's why this season was so disappointing. One of the attractions is watching people struggle, and that hardly ever happened this year.

I don't think they would have quit the game or been out. They probably would still get the same charter flight, but then have a severe time penalty for not completing the task. Remember when Rob couldn't eat all the meat? He just decided to not finish it and take the four-hour penalty.

Probably because of the kids (and the Weaver and Paolo teens are still kids).

I agree with you, but I have seen them go too far as well. Remember that stupid lock challenge, or the IKEA inventory challenge, or the maze? People were lost, confused, and frustrated but it made for real bad TV.

There has been some great ones, usually involving hard physical activity, but for whatever reason they also include stuff you think they had to know would make for really bad TV. In that respect, I don't think this season was any worse, just different. JMHO.

That was terrible. Stupid challenge, bad TV, and just plain aweful (since it resulted in the Gaghan exit ;) ).

I thought both of those made for great TV, especially the IKEA challenge! You had to be organized, relaxed and focused, while under a lot of pressure. It was fascinating to watch some people come apart; the old couple and the wrestlers really struggled, IIRC.

The red bean challenge was a problem because it was so random. You could get lucky and find it right away, or you could search for a really long time. It's like the hay bale challenge - which I think was in the same episode as the IKEA one. The Utah women were the first ones there, I think, but got unlucky and spent 8 hours unrolling hay bales. They never did find the clue.

There was a couple funny comments, but I find those boring beyond the comments and can't wait till they cut to something else.

Guess they'll have to keep including all kinds of elements since everybody likes something different. :)
