Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

Best line of the show last night was from the mother of the Weaver family - lake pontchartrain - one of the five great lakes!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

They are my absolute least favorite.

The Schroeders were staying with the Rogers Family (eliminated 2nd), but I tihnk they moved into someplace on their own since then.

Am I the only one here who isn't a fan of the Gaghans? I know they are just kids, but it seems like their superhuman parents to everything. Hopefully this'll catch up to them and get them eliminated soon.

I also look like the only one who loves the Paolos. Not all families in the world are lovey dovey, and the Paolos show us that. Give them a sitcom, and it would be the second coming of Roseanne, I love Mama Paolo.

Well, I did not like them or dislike them until last night. Yes, the "cute" kids annoyed me, but I didn't let it get to me.

Well, that changed last night. When they were searching the mobile homes for the time tickets. The little girls says something like " I don't like these trailers, they're gross" or something like that.

Now, I think she is a snotty little brat.

One of the five great lakes :confused3 My DH and I both looked at each other and said What????

Does anyone else wonder if they changed the task at the race track to be the bikes instead of something to do with cars because of the Weavers? Just seemed like an odd task for a race track like that.

I don't really care for any of the teams that much at this point, but I don't get why the other teams hate the Weavers so much. At least with what has been aired, they really haven't done anything to any of the other teams.

The Gaghan parents are quite impressive. They have shouldered most of the tasks, but not because the kids didn't want to help out. In some cases, there was just no way they could.

Probably the team I like the best right now is the Bransons (sp???). They haven't done anything too bad yet, except for the mooning, which I found kind of funny, though inappropriate. But they are young adults doing young adult things, and appropriateness isn't always a priority.

I thought the mooning was hysterical, and the Linz boys did not seem offended at all. :teeth:

I am happy to see the teams are all getting along and enjoying the race. they truly seem to be having a good time with each other. With the exception of the Shcroeder's hate for the Weaver's.

I think she said the Trailers were Evil, I thought it was odd that she would pick Evil as a word to say, but maybe it was because it was something like 1am (im guessing this because the Paolo mother said that they would have 5 hours to sleep after picking the time for the departure (Im not sure if they picked 7:40 or 8:00) and at 1am to an 8YO everything is spooky LOL

(Or maybe she has a sixth sense and they are all haunted? LMAO)

The Aiellos (FIL & SILs) had something against the Weavers too. I'd love to know what happens at pit stops.

I still like the Gaghans, I'm impressed with the way they work together and treat/talk to their children. Many kids their age would not be handling the race as well, I think they are setting a great example.

Also liking the Weavers and Paolos more after last night - though I still don't like the way the sons talk to Momma Paolo. The Weaver Mom gained a bit more respect from me by reminding the kids that their Dad loved racing. Helping raise teen siblings that lost a Dad it hits close to home and I think she (and kids) handled it well.

She called the trailers "evil", which I found rather amusing since she's only nine. To me, kids say weird things all the time, I try not to take them too much to heart.

Yeah that's what she said. Little kids say weird stuff like that all the time. I remember babysitting for these brats who were really weird and they always said strange things like that.

I like the Weavers.
I couldn't believe that they had to go to the race track. I thought they handled it amazingly well.
I find it funny that last week the family that hated the Weavers and were cutting them down got eliminated.
Then this week the family that hated the Weavers and were cutting them down got eliminated.

That girl Stassi was a spoiled rude little brat. There is no way I could talk to my dad the way she was yelling at hers! And no way my kids will disrespect me or their dad like that!

That was also so funny after biking around the race track that the little Gaghan girl said her legs didn't hurt at all!!!

Wow, it was very eiry watching them in NO last night. I wonder how that long bridge survived the hurricane.

Last season they were in Sir Lanka on the very train that washed away in the Wave. I think they also filmed in Putket a few seasons ago. Wonder if any of there next locations will suffer a big disaster.......
They drove on the Twinspans and it was in hundreds of pieces after the hurricane. They've made repairs and it should be opening soon.

It was really difficult for me to watch that part of the race. I know that most of the buildings we saw survived, but I wonder about the people. The musicians in Preservation Hall...the guy with Phil at the mat...etc. I wonder if they're still alive and if so, if they've moved on to another state. Many NO musicians moved to Memphis and some said they didn't know if they'd be back. So much of the culture of NO is gone forever :(.

THe Schroder (is that their name, the ones eliminated) were just on the Early Show. I didn't watch all of it, but I don't think their feelings towards the Weavers have changed at all. The host mentioned the Weavers and they (I think mostly the daughter) said oh, the Weaver family then they cut to something else so we didn't get to see what she was going to say.

I'm sorry I'm not up on all of the names, but I just can't get into this edition. I can't wait for the real AR to come back!!

I was really expecting the brother to have a comment about that! :rotfl:

If I had to ride in a car with my beloved family for hours and hours, miles and miles, I would go crazy! Just last night, they had two big road trips. I think I remember something like 285 miles and then 150. I brought that up to my DS, age 12, and gave him some references. He did the univeral sign for gagging and we had a good laugh!

Seriously, do you think that they travel 3 in a seat the whole way?!?!? That would be more like "Survivor" than AR for me.

(I have not read the entire thread, so please excuse me if this has already been discussed.)

Considering the cameraman is in the front seat, Yes, I think they sit 3 in the back the whole way.

I would be soo car sick. I would definitely be doing ALL the driving.

I was telling DH last night that the only way I'd ever do this race was with total strangers. If I were on a team with friends or family, we'd hate each other by the 3rd leg.

Someone mentioned how hard it would be for Phil to tell the little Gaghan girl she would be eliminated. But did you see how hard the Schroeder mom was crying when they got eliminated. I did feel sorry for the Schroeder family, but once again the dad apologized for not listening to his family.

The Schroeder family asked the state trooper were the place was that ended up being the trailer park and the dad said, "that would be to easy" and he also messed up with the State Park, he realized he only worked 1 mile away from the park and he forgot it was there. I think editor's have so much material to work with and they do want to focus a little more on the family that will be eliminated, but yet not make it such a dead give-away.

I know! I was never allowed to act like that, nor would my parents just "take it."

I'm not sure why the Schroeders called the Weavers "white trash." I hate the phrase white trash and it's a nasty thing to say. Apparently they said the Weavers are "e-van" so they don't like them. Whatever that means...?? :confused3 I'm glad they are gone.

"Let my try and be your friend, then let me try and kill you." What does THAT mean? And what in the heck does that have to do with the Weavers.

Talk about a MAJOR "princess" mentality. I don't know what bothered me more - her attitude, or the way her dad pandered to her. I'm glad they're gone.
