Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

Am I the only one who feels exhausted after watching The Amazing Race?

:faint:

I think someone asked early on about the New Orlean's family & what happened to them during the storm... TV Guide reported last week or the week before that they went & stayed with, I believe one of the family's from Connecticut.... I can't recall the family's names, but apparently they became good friends...

Anyhow, I liked the family with the two young kids... We have traveled a bit with our own kids... It would give us an extraordinary leg up in any sort of competition like AR... Our 10 year old can pretty much do anything my DH can do except drive LOL.... Don't think the young one's will hold the parents back is what I mean!

I was sad to see the Black family go, I'm not sure how the Italian family beat them out!!!

I'm with you on that one. But it wasn't just beat them it was move up in the ranks. They went from last to 6th! HOW DID THEY DO THAT!! Right now they are team number one that I would like to see go. Their are two others, but they are doing pretty good right now so I'm sure they will be sticking around for a while.

I was also sad to see the Black family go, but I really wanted the siblings to stay. So that was hard to watch.

The dad and the three daughters, it looks like they will be having some troubles next week. I hope not, I hope they will be able to work it out and make it to the pit stop on time. Would like to see them stick around for a while.

I always thought the bird world was unfair!!! Why give all the men the pretty feathers.

Truce!

;)

(Just put peacock feathers on him--you'll laugh every time you see him. :teeth: )

Hey, the praying mantis women more than make up for it :rotfl:

This may be an unpopular opinion, but here goes......

Would it be possible to keep this thread for discussing the episode after the race airs and your reactions and thoughts on it (and speculation for the next episode). I hate reading through 6 or 7 pages of people responding during the show with things like, "did you see that", "who just got run over", etc. Perhaps we could start a different thread for that purpose and then switch to the official thread when the show is over. I like to read every post, and I get annoyed having to read through pages upon pages until I get to the analysis of the episode.

If I am the only one this bothers, than I am sorry and I will just suffer through it, but I thought I would just mention it in case others feel the same way......

I guess I"m not sure what you mean puffkin?

Most of all the official threads are run this way.

I like catching up on all the stuff. Sometimes I miss a detail and someone else picks up on it.

Just subscribing! Loved last nights show - the little kids were quite amusing to watch.

I am sad to see the Black family go but I was not sure that they were really into it? Maybe it was the editing of course, but when they were floating down the river they looked lost - like what are we going to do now!

I love the Amazing Race.

For example, in this thread, pages 3 through 9 approximately are all comments made while the race is airing. The rest is discussion after the race has aired.

Again, not to offend anyone, but maybe people wouldn't miss so much if they weren't constantly reading and replying to threads during the show.

I already watched the show, I just don't like to sift through a blow by blow account the next morning when I am ready to start discussing my thoughts/reactions.

Personally I believe official threads to be commentary/discussion, not a play by play broadcast. Most of the other TV threads I read don't do that, which is the only reason I suggested limiting it, but if no one else feels that way, I will just sift through those posts to get to the good stuff.

I don't think that tiny little girl is a marathon runner yet, and she blew the pants of the other family, her short little legs can sure fly.

Sha can run a 7 minute mile.

My husband is half Italian, and thankfully, does not act this way. His half-siblings, however...are another story. They are all older than he is and 100% Italian. They scream at each other all the time. I almost told off one of his sisters last weekend because she was yelling at my mother-in-law (her step-mother). Believe me, if we'd been anywhere other than her house, I would have had something to say.

It's NOT an Italian thing. I grew up ina very Italian household. I would have been spanked to hell & back if I or my siblings ever talked to any adult like that. We are loud, but not disrespectful.

My half Italian Mother and 100% Italian Grandmother would have smacked any of the family into next year if we mouthed off even a small percentage of what those kids did.

DH's family is 100% Italian. They're loud, sure, but disrespectful? No way! The belt would have come out for sure!

I had fun posting/reading about it during the show.

I don't need the help of a thread to miss a detail. :teeth:
Kids and other stuff ;)

I was sad to see the Black family go. The two boys reminded me so much of my own boys and how they would react to everything. My youngest is also sort of all bluster, but at age 8 would have been overcome by the challenges and easily distracted. I really give kudos to the young kids and parents. The kids were real troupers and the parents were great about encouraging them.

I was sad that the Black family lost, too. They seemed really nice. The parents really treated the kids well. Good kids, too.

Perhaps it's regional Italian. That AR family is from NYC and my in-laws are from the NJ/NY metro area. Listening to them last night was seriously just like listening to my FIL's family and friends...same accents and everything. (or maybe the AR Family are cousins of my FIL or his ex-wife.)

I am from NJ, right outside NYC, and while neither my husband nor I are full blooded Italian(he's 1/2, I'm 1/4) NO WAY would that ever be accepted in our families-Italian side or not..and to go further.. in my experience Italian boys would never ever be allowed to speak to their mamas like that. :goodvibes

They were horrid boys and if they were mine I would be so ashamed.
