I have watched all the previous seasons and I also found this boring. Maybe because it was all filmed in locations near me. I have been to all those places and live only 20 minutes from Lancaster. I think part of the fun of the race is all the teams trying to get the best airflights to the destination. Being on the wrong flight can lose you the race that and the taxi drivers. Looks like next week we are at a civil war site. Wonder if we stay in PA to go to Gettysburg or move south to VA?

Nancy

I think it is fascinating where they are, I think if they would be filming in Wisconsin, around Milwaukee, Lake Michigan, Horicon Marsh and other places of interest in Wisconsin I would be bored watching it too. We get so used to our surroundings, we take it for granted. You would not believe the people that travel from all over to see the largest Marsh in the world and to watch flocks and flocks of geese.

I can't wait to take a vacation to your area. Maybe we should switch homes, unless you don't like geese? Just kiddin.

I am a personal trainer and she does not seem to be a runner. It will be interesting to see how she does in the challenges.

I'll have to look up her picture...

But as a member of Team in Training--we come in all shapes and sizes.

I guess that is kind of my point...just b/c they are that way--doesn't mean they reflect it in a negative way.

My hubby always wanted to marry a woman who would be a SAHM. He didn't require it of me though. (His mom is a SAHM....so he wanted his children to be reared with that experience). I hate working (the job I had sucked) so it kind of worked out that way.

Oh no, please don't think it's a negative thing regarding SAHMs. I would love to be a SAHM someday. The part that was bothering me was the superiority complex. Him saying that he was superior because he was a man just got under my skin.

I guess it just hits me personally because my dad passed away when I was younger, and my mom raised we 3 girls to be very independent and competent. I saw what she went through and I learned that you can't let someone else 'control' you because what happens if that someone else is suddenly gone? Would you be able to function in the world? You know?

I understand. My dad is alive--but my mom reared me the same way. My hubby is attracted to my feisty independent spirit :teeth: .

There is a difference between submissive and being controlled (that whole wives submit to your husband's stuff). I laugh at most of it...but there are times where it works. They opted for that in their marriage. He might have been just showing his feathers on tv like a peacock.

I didn't--but just my close personal example...of what I feel is fine for my hubby to say or expect...but someone on the outside--might miscontrue it as the control freak hubby. Little do they know buwahahahaha!

Okay--back on with AR :)

I'm another person who has never missed a minute of any of the Amazing Race episodes. I am so happy to hear that I'm not alone in my disappointment. Too much screeching from too many teams. The highlight of the night was seeing Drew and Kevin. I'll watch again if only to see if there are any other previous players showing up. Teams I'd love to see: Cha Cha Cha, Team Guido, Kris and Jon, Gus and Herra.
I think that first episodes, as a rule, have a lot of screeching. People are excited, and have a ton of pent-up energy. They're just busting with it, in fact. But nobody normal can keep that up for too long, and everybody seems pretty normal (except for the Paolo family). So I think things will settle down. They almost always do.

:rotfl: That put a funny picture in my head. Mr. Superior with peacock feathers. Truce?? ;)

Okay just looked at the Gaghan bio--my goodness, SHE doesn't look like a marathon runner!

She looks better than me!!!!!!

We come in all shapes and sizes--and we do not necessarily look like we belong on the cover of Runner's World Magazine.

Sleepy1--you must get some pretty fit athletes. Never judge a book by its cover.

I always thought the bird world was unfair!!! Why give all the men the pretty feathers.

Truce!

;)

(Just put peacock feathers on him--you'll laugh every time you see him. :teeth: )

Speaking of the Paolo family...

I laughed during the Paolo introduction. They had shown the family where everybody runs marathons, and the 8YO girl does a 7 minute mile. They showed the Black family in martial arts training, with the kids breaking boards with their feet. They showed a family of kick-boxers. They showed another family working out in the gym. Then they showed the Paolo family sitting down to a huge platter of pasta. :rotfl2:

Something tells me that they may have a slight physical disadvantage. :)

Lisa loves pooh,

People who continuously train and run marathons do not have much body fat, that is a fact!! I am not saying that she is fat, I am saying she may have ran in a marathon but she does not look like someone who continuously trains, she may be someone who talks the talk but does not walk the walk, we"ll see.

Yes, I do see some pretty fit people and work with them, they are all age groups and they are truly inspirational and awsome.

Quote of the episode -- "Is Pennsylvania a state?"
It was my impression that they weren't sure if that meant they were supposed to go to the state of Pennsylvania or something else called Penn.--like a street or something.

And couldn't find the quote again, but someone commented that the Gaghan mom was acting condescending to the other teams. I think she was just hoping that they hadn't travelled a lot (or maybe she knew) and that would be an advantage for their family. More of a positive for thier team, not necessarily a negative for the other teams.

I enjoyed the show last night, but did switch at 10 to watch Boston Legal and then flipped back during commericals

Was THRILLED to see Kevin and Drew. Even DS6 knew who they were the second he saw them!

I didn't care for the loud Italian family and the rudeness.

Really disliked that dad that said, in a traffic jam, that it was too bad he didn't have a handicapped kid to stick out and stop traffic for them. Bad taste.

I like the sisters, the gaghans, the widow and kids, the Black family ( so sad to see them lose!!!), and siblings, and the aiellos.

Two hours was too long, but other than that, GREAT!

I guess I should tell my coach that. He's been running for 4 years..is a vegetarian and doesn't eat too much junk food...has a tad bit of a belly. And it isn't a 6 pack. Very solid legs and arms though. His wife--very strong, but a little curvey. They do 1 or 2 marathons a year as participants...and they coach another 2 or 3 and participate as a coach only (no chip).

It really wasn't a nice thing to say at all.

The bio says:

Both compete in marathons across the country and are planning to run one in each state.

I wasn't aware she submitted her BMI in the bio. I must have missed it.

I can understand that--but even when it isn't your choice--it is a choice. Some couples are more sad to watch than others who live that way--but there are many who are quite content with the way they live.

I agree that it is a choice for his wife, but his daughter did not choose to grow up with a chauvinistic father - that's why I said I feel sorry for her.

(BTW, I didn't mean to open a can of worms - I've been around a while, just rarely post! But I love TAR and have watched every single season so... there you go.)

I love the Gaghan family. I guess I am one of the minorities by liking them. But that daughter rocked. She is only 8 and she could be this whiny little thing, yet she was helping everyone pound in there tent poles. She out-ran some of the other team when her team won 2nd place. I think this family just happens to be a well traveled family that plans.

Those parents pulled that buggy with the kids in it, and they never showed them complaining about pulling it. When they got done, the mom commented how it was a good work-out for her butt. And the mom did all the driving. I am going to stick with this family.

I also like the other family from Florida-the widowed mom. My dd-15 was watching and she said, finally someone on here for her to watch-the son (he's hot!).

Just because he wears the pants--doesn't mean he goes around announcing it all day long. Perhaps he is a great and loving father and she'll find a great and loving husband.

It isn't like the girl is wearing long skirts and has to be the epitome of modesty.

Someone even say--they had a hard time figuring out who made the comment b/c noone was "chauvinistic" during the episode. In these things--the best and the worst come out. Maybe it was the editing...I'd have to go review it myself....but did he do anything to proclaim his manhood during the competition.

I think the girl will be just fine in whatever she choses to do with her life.

Not a fan of the Rogers - I thought I would hate the Dad after hearing his opening comments (paraphrasing: the man is head of the family 'cause the Bible says so). But he doesn't bother me yet. The family with the Dad & his kids and the stepmom bug me. I really like the Linz sibs, the Weavers, the sisters & the Dad with his sons-in-law. Looks like a fun season. For some reason, I didn't have trouble with "who's with who".

I liked how the first families helped the others with their tents - they had nothing to lose by helping them at that point, so why not?

The Paolo Mom seemed shocked that her sons would talk to her like that with a camera rolling! I'm sure that's the norm for them & she's been letting them get away with it their whole lives. They're very irritating.

The only thing I noticed in that episode was after the waterwheel building task he made some comment about his son being the "MVP of the day." It could be editing and I might be nitpicking... he could say just as many good things to his daughter, too. I guess we will have to watch and see!

I hope you are right about the daughter. I can't help it though - I do feel bad for girls who grow up being taught that the man is automatically head of household.
