Less weight be the Gaghans are marathon runners which I'm sure played a big part in being able to finish the task on the physical side.

I don't think that tiny little girl is a marathon runner yet, and she blew the pants of the other family, her short little legs can sure fly.

So far I don't like all the screaching that is coming from the Weavers and the Godlewski's. The Paolo family is just horrendous. I guess there will be no taxi's this year with team size being 4. I'll miss that along with the airport scenes. Those were some of the best moments (remember Colin almost getting arrested because of the taxi driver).

From the CBS web site: Tony and Marion Paolo, from Carmel, New York, are the proud parents of two sons, DJ and Brian. The bickering is constant for these lovable New Yorkers.

I thought this was one of the most boring ARs ever. After the usual action packed, airport screaming, 5,000 mile flights, it was a letdown to have them drive a whole 250 miles from New York, through NJ to Pennsylvania.

ARE WE THERE YET?

I thought it was great!! I work in Washington Crossing, PA, in fact a stone's throw away from the park and I had NO idea they were filming there LOL. Wonder when it was. Because a lot of the roads are closed and detours since the storm in April.

Anyway, I was so sad to see the Black family eliminated last night. I liked seeing them all work together and how proud and positive they were of eachother. Unlike that other family. Man, they were unreal. I know there was a lot of editing I'm sure, but how could you talk to your family that way?

I do like the Gaghan family and I like the Linz family, they just crack me up. :rotfl:

That's so cool! Do they have those George Washingtons as a tourist attraction, or was it just for the show? Because if they really do that, I'd love to take my DH there, as he's such a history buff. He's from Easton, BTW. :goodvibes

I am an AR fan who has not missed one minute of all 9 previous seasons. Last night, I could of suffered through the entire show if it was only an hour long, but at 10PM, I HAD to switch over to SVU. I taped the last hour of AR, and not sure if I will rush to watch it. I know who got eliminated, and now, I can see the order of the pit stop next week when they leave. I will give it a couple more weeks, maybe it will settle down some, but all the screaching from the sister team was driving me insane, and for some reason, even though they were still in the US, things seemed alot more confusing for me watching it.

I enjoyed the show. I have watched since TAR 4 when a friend from another online website was one of the contestants.

I do hope they don't drive the Yukons everywhere, but it was interesting to see the dynamics (who sat where and who watched the kids while the other drove type stuff).

Also, it looks like the crew was downsized to one single cameraman/sound person combined.

Having 10 teams with 50 people (four plus the technician) would be difficult to pre-arrange travel for.

They have always used the map metaphor to show where teams were going (on the "flight" from Mexico to London via Miami). Here you had 10 teams driving every which way to get to Washington's Crossing (they could have called me, I know where it is) :) and they never showed a map, or explained where people went wrong. I think that led to some of the confusion. Where were they?

Another vote for the Paolo family to go away!!! I realize that there is a lot that goes on for the benefit of the camera, but it seems that there was a lot of bickering going on. The one time, when they were building the water wheel house, the dad told the wife to move, not stand there like an idiot. That didn't seemed contrived at all. I just don't like them. No way would I behave like that in front of the entire country...I don't care if it is 'good t.v.'!!
The Aiello family is from close to our town....about 30 miles away. Those are the dad and his sons-in-law. I really like them. They seem to actually care about each other. I also like the three brothers and their sister.
But, those other sisters in pink....man, are they obnoxious or what. Also don't care for all the praying. Who really believes that God cares about a reality show!!! It's like when Notre Dame plays Boston College. They both pray to God to give them the victory...so, both are Catholic schools..who do they think God is going to choose!!??

I'm not sure I'm going to like this 4 person team style. But I do like that they are still in the US. It's nice to see more of our own country. I can imagine the nightmare it would be to get those young people around the world safely. All those planes, boats, rickshaws!!!

I couldn't stand watching for 2 hours, so went back to the ballgame and watched my team get slaughtered....but it was better than the screetching and rudeness that was being exhibited by several of the teams.

Two questions though:

1. Did the nasty family go back and find the clue they dropped?

2. How close was the finish and how did the Black family end up being last? Did they get lost? Originally I thought there were two or three teams behind them.

I have to add myself to this thread since I just found it. I'll go back later and read the comments.

Love this show

I don't think I care that much for the "family" groups, but I guess it is a nice change of pace. I didn't have as hard of a time keeping the teams straight as I thought I would though, which surprised me.

Phil said at the beginning they didn't have to pay for gas or airline tickets with their money, so I am assuming they will have some airport time eventually in the race. They got $150 for this leg, which I assume was all for food and tolls since they didn't have to use money anywhere else (it looked like the camping gear was given to them).

Liked the Black family, but the kids didn't really seem that into it. They didn't really seem to want to help during the challenges. I don't think they would of lasted that much longer.

Was surprised that I didn't like the sibling team very much. Don't know why. Was also surprised that I did like the Gaglin family (sp?) at least so far. I also didn't mind the widow and kids (except for the shrieking) or the son in laws team.

I too miss the other countries, but it was neat seeing them in my own neighborhood. I went to college in Philly near Fairmont Park and I live fairly close to Lancaster.

Glad to see Kevin and Drew, a shame more teams didn't seem to recognize them. After the second team came, I was thinking, hey is that Kevin and Drew?

Hopefully the race picks up a bit now that we know the teams and they become more adept at playing the game.

I don't believe they did. I always thought that you had to have the clue on you at all times. Does anyone know what the rule is on that? If it is a rule, maybe they'll be penalized and the Black Family will not be eliminated. One can only hope ;)

Great, great show. I'm glad they're going to show more of the USA. Hey maybe they'll go to Walt Disney World!!!! Maybe not, it's not ABC network.

Love the family with the two little kids. Reminds me of my kids.

Felt so bad for the Black Family -- the poor son :(

Surprised that no one more recognized Kevin and Drew!!!!! My husband and I recognized them instantly!

Love the sisters team and the team with the three brothers and sister. That's my kids.

The italian family are my Love to Hate family. I have some Italiian friends in NJ and Yes, some of them do talk that way to each other.

Have a good one.

I felt so bad for the Black family. They tried so hard and they had so much heart. It must be harder to complete some of these tasks with small children. The Gaghan kids seem to be a little more up to it and I hope they can keep it up.

Well, I think that if it had not been a stopping point, they would have made the family go back. As it was, they got the last number so there was really no reason to waste the gas and time to go back since they were not going to get and further ahead or behind with the clue.

For me, I'm rooting for the Lutz family (3 brothers and sister). They made me laugh and make the race much more enjoyable for me. Its not that I mind the 4 people teams, its the kids that really don't add much to this program for me. It would be like putting kids on Survivor and then toning WAY down so that it wouldn't be too harsh on them. It just isn't the same.

The Aiello Dad lives next door to my good friend and around the block from my Aunt :) and a heads up to RI TAR fans - the oldest SIL is a Johnston Police Officer.

Just subscribing to the thread!

I love this show and don't mind that it's in the US. I was sad to see the Black Family go, but since it came down to them and the Lenz family I would prefer to see the Lenz family stay. They added humor to the show.

The Bronz family was VERY annoying, hopefully the don't last long. So far there isn't a team besides them that I hope to see go soon. Could make it interesting finding the team to root for!

I guess my problem so far with this season is to me there are way too many people. They would show a family and I would be like have we seen them before (other than the start). I think once a few more teams are eliminated it will be easier to watch.

I love TAR, but I found last night's show difficult to watch.
Its hard to keep track of 10 teams of 4 people. I kept confusing the families.
Hopefully it will get easier as teams get eliminated.
There was way too much driving yesterday for me, I much prefer watching the detours and roadblocks than people driving in a car.
I hope they get to fly somewhere on future episodes.
I was hoping the Italian family would get the boot last night, those boys were annoying.

I am from Chicago so I have to route for the 4 sisters from DesPlaines, IL or the father and 3 daughters from Park Ridge, IL.

The BEST part of the show was seeing Kevin and Drew from Season 1 as the hot dog guys. I couldnt believe that no one except the last family recognized them! Arent these racers fans of the show??!!
I hope we get to see Danny and Oswald (Team Cha Cha) from Season 2! It would probably involve some sort of roadblock at a mall since they said the mall was like church to them!!!

I don't think it's a rule. In season 2, Tara and Will lost their clue on the final leg. They knew to fly to Alaska, but weren't sure where to go after that. They looked through a guidebook and happened to remember the place they were supposed to go.

The only rule I can think of that pertains to the clue is they can only take one from the box. This happened with Freddy and Kendra (season 6), they dropped their clue and went back to the box to get a new one. When they got to the pit stop they received a 30 minute penalty.
