Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

I knew that this week would be a nonelimination round. There is always one at this point near the end. This is a way to "mix" things up. I'm hoping that Team Florida gets eliminated. I haven't cared for them since the very beginning.

I guess I'm the only one that likes the Weavers (and they said my state was ugly!) I wonder now that the race is over if the other teams watch and think "why did we hate them so much". Were the Weavers really that bad? I would feel stupid being around them afterwards. I mean its just a game. I think there was one incident and somebody had a beef with the Weavers, then everyone else jumped on the bandwagon.

They also said that God didn't spend a lot of time in your state...

RIDICULOUS

I agree. I am so disappointed that it was not an elimination round. The weavers present themselves as victims, yet that could not be farther from the truth. They have worn out my patience with their continued rudness and negativity. I realize that there is some editing, but how much could edited out. I wonder if they are sitting there watching themselves and feeling ashamed. I imagaine they are justifying why they did what they did. The truth is they have not gotten along with any of the other families. I have seen the others try, like the desperate houswives trying to console them when they were at the track. All the weavers did was dog them. It is a shame this yield was wasted though.

The funny part is that they did not prepare for this to be an non elimination round and they are not dressed for cold weather. I guess we will see what happens next.

You're not alone, Liz. I like the Weavers too. I feel that some of the things that the kids have done (thrown food, the comments to the bike riders, etc.) can just be written off to immaturity. Anyone who has ever had teenagers has probably witnessed that in their own kids. And just because they are Christians, it doesn't mean they are perfect. There has only been one perfect person in the world, and that was Jesus Himself.

I agree with the poster about the mom being just as immature. What mom would sit back and condone that kind of talk and behavior? She just jumps right in with them. Heck the teams with younger kids on them acted more mature than they do.

Even if they are feeling ganged up on by the other teams they need to just get over it if they are focused on winning the game, not dwell on it and complain to anyone that will listen.

Personally, I'm tired of hashing over and over the reasons for disliking the Weavers week after week. Nothing changes with them so it shouldn't even have to be defended. Now if their behavior was a complete turn around, then there would be a reason.

The Linz's yielded the Weavers while they they thought they were in 2nd place right behind them, it most likely had nothing to do with who they were. Who's fault is it they took a wrong road?

I'm still rooting for the Linz's, have been since day one! They are there to enjoy the game and can laugh, that's what I like about them.

I originally liked the Weavers, and I still chalk up a lot of their "problems" to immaturity and the lasting effects of grief (please do not underestimate how that can affect people) but they definitely have been on my nerves the last few weeks.

I guess what I don't understand is why everyone seems to be rooting for the Linz's so much? I think they are just as bad as the Weavers, but it just comes across differently. They are incredibly immature. Yes they are having fun, but come on, they are adults. The Gaghan kids showed more class and maturity. Even my husband commented on the Linz's behavior last night, and he barely ever watches the show. They do their fair share of making fun of people, calling names, etc.

The Sisters annoy me with their constant screeching/bickering, so that leaves the Bransens to root for by default. I honestly don't care for them that much either, but you have to root for someone......

I guess I'm not seeing what you are referring to the Linz's calling people names, etc. If they are maybe the difference is that they aren't running around saying how wonderful they are, and how nice of people they are and how they are above everyone else. Also, they maybe 'adults' but they are 20 something (actually one is 19) college again adults and there are a lot of them at that age struggling between the having fun stage and the adult stage.

I agree, I have not heard anything from them that made me sit up and say "hey, that was mean." They seem to be having one heck of a good time with this race. Everytime they pass another team either coming or going, they shout out words of encouragement. (Weaver's excluded).

The only team that is nasty is the Weaver's. That is my observation, anyway.

ITA with everything you said. I liked how the Bransens talked about being "Switzerland" and taking advantage of the in-fighting by the other 3 teams. I also think it's interesting that no one is complaining about the snarky comments made by the Linz family about the Weavers.

While I was sorry that it was a non-elimination round, I would impressed how the Weaver mom kept her kids together and encouraged them even though they knew they had blown it. I guess we're in for at least one more hour of "Weaverisms" :).

Well, I know a lot of people (myself included) are disappointed that this yea'rs race is in the USA so much. But I have to tell you--my kids are really enjoying seeing different parts of the country. We hope to do a cross country trip one of these years--now DD10 would LOVE to go rock climbing and rappelling in Utah! None of us could understand why the Weavers kept saying that Utah was an ugly state! I think DD would pack up and move in a heartbeat!

I was just wondering, when and if the Weavers get eliminated---
What are you guys going to talk about???
:confused3

Because every page on this thread is full of Weaver-bashing.....

Just quoting myself from last week.......

Nothing else interesting happened on the show last night? I thought that ski-jump into the water thing was very cool. I was worried someone was going to wipe out and fall off the side!
And what a pain it would have been pulling those trailers all over the place hey!
And the bear--too funny. I can't believe that guy has a bear living in his backyard :earseek:

The Weavers and the Linz's get on my nerves, but I'm tired of the Weavers whining how nobody likes them, is against them blah, blah, blah. I'd still like to know what really goes on behind the scenes and how they've all really ticked each other off. I bet it will make for some interesting news magazine interviews after this race is over.

I actually knew who Bart was because there was a special on the Discovery channel about him. Jennifer Aniston was the host(ess).

I have been watching the reruns of Amazing Race on the Game channel and I really find it fascinating to literally watch these people run around the world. I'm sure with kids that would've been too difficult physically and worrying about passports, security etc.

I don't think the weavers will have any trouble getting money next week. All they have to do is set the sisters out on the corner for a few minutes. :rotfl:

That was really a mean statement. Glad you remember you are on Dis Family threads.

I think there was a LOT more with the Weaver family that we didn't witness.

I have never seen every team so against another in any other race. It's really surprising! Even Rob and Amber were better liked than the Weaver family. I can't help wonder what happened that would cause EVERY OTHER team dislike them so much.

They are the last family with kids under 18. Think about it. The other groups hated being beat by kids. I bet if the Black Family and the team with the little girl were there yet, everyone would be yelling about them.

I said way back in the beginning I like the family with the younger kids. If you never experienced a actual road trip with teenagers and younger kids I don't think you have a clue what teenagers can say and do.

I'm with Phil, I hope the Weaver's don't give up. And if Phil can give them encouraging words, I hope they can come from behind.

The bear is actually an actor. He has been in a lot of movies. I think the last one was Dr. Doolittle 2.

I keep hoping that it is editing that is making the Weaver's look so bad but I don't think so. I was so hoping it was an elimination round.

I thought Utah looked just beautiful and all teams seemed to appreciate that except the Weavers.

Oh well, at least it seems to be a bonding experience for them...

I think that we are missing the main point here: This family edition is very boring. Normally, there are discussions more relevent to the show, with some comments about the teams. Because of the lack of interesting places, we are forced to see alot more backstabbing between teams then we usually do. The activities have been a real bust, the heliocopter ride looked nice but not much of a challenge. Therefore, when editing, they have to show more negative things to keep our interest.

Frankly, as much as I don't like them, the Weavers have become the most interesting part of the show, because they are so negative. Try to imagine if all the teams were as bland as the Bransens, the show would be even more boring. I hope that the Weavers do get eliminated and that the producers have now learned a lesson, not to mess with the original concept.

I love to travel, and have such a nice time when we see things and places we have been to and would like to visit. That is what is missing here in a big way. An example, an oversized chair is not very interesting to me.

Well, the families will be heading to Canada in one of the next two episodes. They were in Toronto this summer doing some kind of water event and there were reports of sightings in Montreal, I don't know if it is before or after Toronto, but... I do know that they were in the Niagara Falls area right after Toronto. So a trip to the airport will becoming up soon, and that could provide a bunching effect. It will be interesting to see what happens there.

I agree--I find the whole show very bland and boring. Its much more interesting when they go to different parts of the world and experience a different culture. There wasnt too much excitment driving thru Utah and running behind a house to find a bear giving you a clue. (Although the bear was cute)

Do we know for sure there are at least 2 more episodes?

I was reading ahead on my program guide and it says something like:(Highlight to read):

The teams are in for a surprise at the finish mat. This has me concerned that the finale is next Tuesday. Could there be another twist?

Gotta say, my favorite quote of the night went something like this:
"Ice cream is injuvenating and revigorates you." - Mom Weaver

If you never experienced a actual road trip with teenagers and younger kids I don't think you have a clue what teenagers can say and do.

I have been. We traveled by car quite often to Florida from Connecticut, and when we lived in Illinois we travelled to and from Connecticut to visit family.

I can guarantee you that my kids were raised to treat everyone with respect. They were raised not to throw things out of car windows. They were raised to not yell rude comments at strangers out car windows. They can tell you that their mother would have been all over their butts had they attempted any of the things I've witnessed these kids doing. They would have been offering a few apologies to members of the other teams, too.

The argument that their "just kids" doesn't work for me. I think they're obnoxious and rude. What's worse is their mother allowing and encouraging them. What's her excuse? She's not a kid.
