I have been. We traveled by car quite often to Florida from Connecticut, and when we lived in Illinois we travelled to and from Connecticut to visit family.

I can guarantee you that my kids were raised to treat everyone with respect. They were raised not to throw things out of car windows. They were raised to not yell rude comments at strangers out car windows. They can tell you that their mother would have been all over their butts had they attempted any of the things I've witnessed these kids doing. They would have been offering a few apologies to members of the other teams, too.

The argument that their "just kids" doesn't work for me. I think they're obnoxious and rude. What's worse is their mother allowing and encouraging them. What's her excuse? She's not a kid.

::yes:: ::yes:: This is so true!

What will I do when the Weavers are eliminated? Now I am using them as examples of "how not to act" for my dd! :rotfl: DD is 13 and can't believe the way the Weaver kids treat people.

The problem I find with this is that the Weaver Mom is just as immature as her kids are, if not more so. Instead of teaching them, she is right there along side them encouraging the rude behavior. I was so hoping this would be elimination!

I agree. The Mom is just as bad as the kids , plus she never corrects their bad behavior. They are just plain mean. Hypocritical too. I wonder what their reaction to the taping will be after they watch the shows.
I believe the Branson's are the underdogs.

I thought Utah looked just beautiful and all teams seemed to appreciate that except the Weavers.
...

YES! That was incredible scenes.
There was another display of the Weavers actions. They made fun of a beautiful state like Utah.

I actually am enjoying seeing scenes from our own beautiful country. There are so many people out there that haven't seen our own country, maybe a show like this will encourage people to travel within our states.

They are the last family with kids under 18. Think about it. The other groups hated being beat by kids. I bet if the Black Family and the team with the little girl were there yet, everyone would be yelling about them.
.

how old is the youngest Branson girl? She looks like a teenager.

Ok. I just watched a video tape of last nights' episode (that aired at 2:55 a.m.!). The Weaver family is driving me insane! (Now that the Paola family is no longer there to yell at each other!). The Mom needs some serious counseling. She acts like one of the kids. I would never accept such bad behavior in from my children. Instead of correcting their behavior, she participates. Also, they are not only rude to the other teams, they are rude to the local citizens and make such horrible remarks about the places they have visited. I feel sorry for them for the death of the husband/Dad - but they were rude to the other teams so many times before the other teams just had enough. Whenever, someone has said something nice to them, they have pushed them away.

I'm routing for the Linz family. Yes, it can be like watching a bunch of frat boys - however, they also have been positive and have a great team spirit within their team, and even with the other teams.

I have mixed feelings about this seasons locations. It has been nice to see some of the U.S. The missing element has been interacting more with the locals. I guess when you're out of the country, you need to rely on the locals for more help.

I didn't read through all the posts...so forgive me if this has already been mentioned. I feel really bad for Christine (Desperate Housewives) -- her sisters are so mean and disrespectful to her. Even if she does talk a bit too much, why would they be so blatantly rude to one of their own family members? I imagine they have probably treated her this way all their lives.

I think the Linzs are okay, but the brothers come across as dumb jocks that don't really pay attention to detail the way they should. This may cost them the race (maybe they are having too much fun :confused3 ).

Don't even get me started on the Weavers. :sad2:

At this point I am also cheering the Branson's on as I feel they have been the least obnoxious throughout the race.

I felt the same way. I felt really bad for her. Especially after she said that she toned herself down a lot for the good of the team's coherence. No one should have to change who they are for their own siblings to accept them. You know how there are some families where there is a 'black sheep' for no apparent reason? That's what it unfortunately seems like. When they were coming down the side of the cliffs they were all cheering each other on, and then when it was her turn they just kept saying hurry up. I felt so bad for her.

I know I've said this before, but I don't get how the Linz brothers are acting like 'dumb jocks'??? My DF is a very intelligent man but if you get him with his brothers or any other guys for that matter, that's how they all act!!! So what?!?! They are having fun... creating memories that are going to last their whole lives. How else are guys that age supposed to be acting???

I agree!!! Maybe she is just the youngest or something and they are jealous of her. She seems like a nice girl... and you are also correct in that you shouldn't have to modify your behaviour around family if you aren't endangering/hurting anyone.

There's nothing wrong with having fun...they just can't lose sight of the fact that they need to pay attention to the clues better or they may very well lose a million bucks (talk about creating a memory that will last their whole lives!).

I'm really just under-whelmed with this whole season. We were all looking forward to the family edition so much -- but it has really been kind of a dud.

ITA - Our family was fortunate enough to take a driving trip from Maryland to Oregon & back this summer. After driving 8000 miles we realized there is so much of this country left for us to see. It is beautiful. I love watching this edition of AR because we have been to many of the places in the Race. We were in Utah. It IS beautiful. I only wish we had had more time to enjoy Utah.

It looked beautiful to me.

I imagine that they kept it mostly in the US because they weren't sure of how many kids would end up in the end and they wanted to keep it as safe as possible. In the past, they have visited all kinds of foreign countries... not ones that would always be great for the little ones to be in... I can see the producers not wanting to put anyone in harm's way.

Does anyone think it's a waste to have a yield on a non elimination round? I have a feeling that the start of the next round is going to bring all the teams back to even (eg. First team gets to the first clue box, but it says the place will not open until 8 am the next day). That's why the Whiners, I mean Weavers, tell the Linz family that they wasted their Yield (even though it was the last Yield).

Also, look for the finale to end in NYC in Central Park (at Wollman Rink).

The last couple of seasons the yields have only been in non elimination rounds. So no matter when you use it the last team won't be eliminated. Personally, I think the yields should be in elimination rounds.

Hey, I was right about there being two yields. And they couldn't have went to a more deserving team. Another leg, another round of the Weavers topping themselves.

I'm to the point of feeling sorry for their boy. Perfect example of a toxic environment ruining the child. He seems like he would be OK if... At least he'll have this experience to fall back on, as long as he never admits what team he was with.

As for the rest of the teams, I'm liking the Linz family more and more. Glad to see them win a leg. I'm also wondering if they finished around here. They sure do seem to be headed this way.

A die-hard Linz fan here... I like the Godlewski sisters less and less each week due to their disrespect for each other. Michelle is the worst...she is so mean to her sisters.

I was initially a Weaver fan, I felt that they were the underdogs, but as the season has progressed I like them less and less...I won't go into all the reasons why, but my big question is, if they are such devout christians (and even if they AREN'T) why are those teenage girls running around in underwear?!? Those skintight scoop bottom shortie shorts they wear certainly aren't modest apparel, and my mother would have never let me wear such a skimpy revealing outfit. The Bransen girls wear sportsbra-like tops every episode, but at least they temper it with loose, longer shorts, and there is no midriff action!

See I actually liked the Yield being in a non-elimination round because, personally, I find the yield very unfair...why should you be penalized by another team because they don't like you? Skill and intelligence should win the race, not alliances formed (which is fine) but to have the ability to take a team and make them wait (even if they’ve been running a great race and are just behind you) is not fair.

I wanted to barf when Phil was trying to encourage the Weavers. Well, I wanted to get sick, after I was done yelling about it being a non-elimination round, that is!

Add me to those cheering for the Linz'!

A yield should not really be used on someone who you don't like - that's not good game play.

BUT

there are times that it can be very useful to gain some extra time on other teams.

It's part of the game.
