Amazing Race 11 - All Stars (begins 2/18/07)

I knew Rob and Amber were gonna have this strategy as they discussed it on there reality show after they got the call from AR....Rob told Amber we would have to have a advantage or he wasnt gonna do it....He said the biggest hold up for them last time was the backpack and that if would do it again she would have to figure a way to pack very little....He actually didnt want to take anything but she talked him into a few things....smart

I've also noticed that the Guidos aren't carrying much. They had an advantage with smaller packs the first time they raced but I think they've pared down further as well. I think they have slightly more than Rob & Amber but not much.

I'm not sure if it's about this run being All Stars, or just my desire for stronger teams but I'm finding that I am less focused on team interactions and more focused on quality of the travelers. In other words, Rob & Amber are growing on me because they are playing smart, I'm becoming a big fan of Danny & Oswald (haven't seen season 2) because they seem to make it look easy, I like the BQs because they make their decisions based on what will get them ahead, I'm enjoying the Guidos because they seem to have learned from their last experience, I liked Kevin & Drew the first time around because Kevin was so good at finding hidden travel options but was not impressed that they came back without Kevin learning how to drive a stick shift, etc.

Although I have teams that I hope leave early and teams that I'd like see get to the end, I find that I am mostly hoping for "smart" competitors and good "twists".

This is probably a taboo subject, but it's too bad they didn't bring at least two people from one of the "family edition" teams to all-stars. I know that season was lousy, but there were a couple of decent teams. I think two of the Lintz kids or a couple of the sisters from the runner-up family. Just not those idiots from Florida.

Another pair I miss is the "Bowling Moms". They were good and funny. There are too many other good teams out there, that's why it is upsetting to see a lousy team like Kevin and Drew on this show.

J&U - Whats up with U this time? I don't remember him being so nasty to J and infact was so supportive of her. I heard somewhere that they are having marital issues and it shows

I saw Uchenna & Joyce on a make-over show where Joyce got a new wardrobe, etc. It seemed there were some problems between them then. She said she wanted to go to California to be an actress and would do it whether Uchenna came with her or not. At the end of the show he did say he would go with her and support her in this desire.

I was wondering the same thing. In Episode one, before he fell, he didn't seem quite right. I hope he's ok. It is a shame that one of my favorite teams is out so early.

I'm in the minority here, but I can't stand Kevin and Drew. They should have never been chosen to be an all star team. There are much more deserving teams out there. Mirna and Charla are fun to watch. Did you see Charla fall off the tracter tire? That was comedy.

Yes, but I was more drawn to her talking about the step stool and trying to find it and the Mirna responding, "I dont have time for the Step Stool," or something to that effect. They provided us with some good laughs on Sunday Night!

I think at the beginning of episode 1, when they were introducing the teams, they said that Uchenna and Joyce were having marital problems since they still hadn't conceived after rounds of in vitro. I had to chuckle at the scenes of them in the car, where Joyce was spouting off and Uchenna was saying nothing. I said to DH, "This is a man who has been married a while, and knows when to keep his mouth shut!"

I didn't see Seasons 1 & 2, so I didn't know Donny and Oswald, but I like them. Not so impressed with Kevin and Drew, not sorry to see them go. They just seemed to be so out of place. I've always like the BQ's and Romber's race styles, they always have their eye on the prize. You don't have to be Romber fans to respect their style of play.

And I also would have loved to see a pair of Linz (sp?) siblings in there--again, they had great teamwork and style.

When was he nasty to her?

He's been snipy this time with his tone of voice and words. They just aren't the same team from the season they ran the race. It is obvious they are having issues. I hope it doesn't hurt them in the reace. They are in my top 3 of hoping to still be there in the end.

I do think it's interesting how when we are rooting for one team we tend not to notice the attitude or dismiss certain things they do For instance I have no problem with R&A being all for themselves - this is a race people - but others can't stand them. I also don't see the BQs as being B's but others do.

So, when Amber gave the answer to cha-cha, who else thought "Oooh, Rob is going to kill her?"

Rob will not be happy to see how nice she is when he is not around.

I do love them though, it is so strange for me to say that. I HATED them on Survivor, but they really impressed me on their 1st season of AR. I am now a HUGE fan.

What I find interesting, is my 10yr son is watching it this year. The first episode, he immediately said he was rooting for Rob and Amber. Now this is a kid who knows NOTHING about their past reality history. Yet, he they stood out to him, and he wants them to win.


Glad Kevin and Drew are gone. They had been my all time favorite AR teams, up until now. They are really just a couple of whining cry babies. Good riddance. They were depressing me, What a huge disappointment.

Loved Uchenna's face in the cab when Joyce said she really is good at details.

And this is why I love Romber....they PLAY the game. Within the confinds of the rules, they(Rob) figures out how best to PLAY the game. All of the racers know if you don't follow the detour/roadblock instructions, you will have a time penalty. The smaller your backpack is the better it will fit under your seat on a plane, easier in/out of cars, easier to carry. They play the race smart. And Rob was very correct, they(Romber) get into the other teams heads and they start worrying about where and what are doing Romber and they don't focus on playing their own part in the race.

He really does have AMAZING strategy. I wonder what it is like to play a game of chess with him?

I couldn't believe C&M. That crazy team! She actually shoved her pack at the taxi driver and said "Take all my money. I won't eat tomorrow." They are melting down fast.

I am sure the second time around has so much more pressure. You are more aware of how badly you can screw it up.

I was glad to see Amber stand up for herself in the airport. She always seemed like a non personality. Just up for whatever thought Rob put in her head.

Hey - which one is Mirna and which one is Schmirna? Mirna is the taller, prettier, shriller one, right? [B/c it would be too easy for me to remember "mini-Mirna" as a way to tell them apart by name only, like in reading a recap].

Ya, Mirna/Shrirna are losing it! And quickly. Though they are amusing to watch, so I do hope they stick around a little longer

Same here. After seeing how dumb those two have been on almost everythign else I was shocked and impressed when she had the right strategy right from the beginning.

Once again it appears to be Rober's game to lose. I also like hsi strategy of letting the other teams obsess and doing things to make it happen.

The important part is we saw it. I have to say I'm really starting to sour on this show after seeing that. Really blatent example of them "fixing" things. It was right there... naked bolts (as my wife called them).

And I thought it was bad when they got on flights at the last miunte.

I thought it was really rude of Drew to walk off the mat before Phil could even finish telling them they were eliminated.

I cant believe Drew is only 41, the way to acted and moved he looked more like he was 70. He just didnt look well at all to me.

Oswald and Danny are my favorites. They never seem to get too hyper or overreact. I love when Danny said he was a man in a former life! Too funny.
