On a recent trip, our RideMax plan had us riding Space, then Buzz, then Little Mermaid. Our FPs were for later in the day, so all the early rides were to be standby.

We did RD, and walked to Space at a normal pace. NO wait at all. Standby line was like FP--nonstop to the turnstile, then sitting in the Omega rocket within 5 min.

Went over to Buzz...and it was down. We had plenty of time before Little Mermaid, so we decided to try Space again.

SAME THING. No wait at all. Rode Alpha.

DD: "Let's try it again." SAME THING. Rode Omega.

Rode Space 3 times in 25 minutes, without FP. AND BUZZ WAS DOWN.

Weird. Our usual experience is a 20-30 minute standby within 10 minutes of park opening, and that's WITH Buzz working.

Maybe everyone heard about the ceiling snakes? :confused3

have walked on space 30 minutes after park opining so it happens some

Well, I'm going to say that this is pretty normal in my experience. Most of the Mountains at Rope Drop don't build lines right away usually. Sounds like it was a lot of fun!

Yep. I always send DH and DD through the no bag line and straight to SM. I go through the bag check line and meet them there when they get off. Works out perfectly.

Ceiling Snakes???

We have had great luck on space at RD. The actual wait doesn't match the posted wait! Take the plunge!!

Hmmm - if we want to do Space and Buzz, which one would be better to do first? Or, does it really matter?

In my experience most people are rope dropping to race to 7DMT, A&E and other Fantasyland attractions. This was our experience last week when we decided to head to Frontierland at rope drop. BTMRR and Splash were both walk ons for the first half hour of park opening. Then we headed to POTC and walked on twice in a row.

At rope drop it probably doesn't matter. But Buzz is also super easy to get as an additional FP. We got 2 in a row to ride it last week back to back.

Space first (and second), then buzz :).

We usually try to FP 7DMT, Splash, and a princess - and head to Tomorrowland at rope drop...space, buzz, then barnstormer (usually more than once), Ariel is a common first hour for us...

Our plan for years has been to either hit Space, or BTMRR at rope drop and then hit a few of the other attractions in that area immediately after. Granted, we've only gone in late Sept when crowds are lower, but like the OP we've never had a wait of more than a few minutes. On our very first visit to MK back in 2010, we went left at the hub to Frontierland and ended up riding BTMRR four times in a row with no wait. By then (9:30ish) the crowds were starting to arrive.

(Shhh... )

No, no, no EVERYONE should head to FANTASYLAND at rope DROP. That way you get all of FANTASYLAND done first!

At least that's the advice I hear from the professional tour advisors.

Seriosly, everyone except me should head to FANTASYLAND first. ;)

@kay1864 Thanks for sharing! Except for Buzz, sounds like you had a great morning!

We found the same almost two weeks ago with Big Thunder MT. Railroad.

LOL, now you're going to have to fight the crowds to Space Mt again. ;)

A few years ago (before 7DMT opened) we got to Space an hour after opening, 5 minute wait. Still the last time we rode Space as we feel it's definitely gotten rougher

I'm so glad 7DMT is still so popular. After a few times the ride is simply to short to justify planning your whole day around it BUT is does soak up a lot of people away from the other mountains.
