Am I the only strange one here?

Getting excited about my trip to DL today and the thought occured to me: Disneyland is the only amusement park I've ever been to, and I do not feel any interest in going to any other! I haven't even been to California Land yet. Growing up in SoCal, and the memories associated with DL, has spoiled me to no end regarding interest in anything else. I cannot even get interested in going to other Disney parks in the USA. Anyone else have this strange, exclusive interest, in Disneyland?

I sort of do. I go to WDW for the whole experience, but I feel equally excited just to go to Disneyland itself. It is my favorite park that I have ever been to.

I grew up in So Cal and am still here...I'm pretty much like you! I do enjoy Legoland with my kids, but I have no great desire to go to WDW. I know it is probably great, and very different in some ways, but I guess I like going back to where my heart and childhood memories lie :D

MattWill,
I have to say living in So Cal and going to DL an endless amount of times and WDW 2 times (and the Disney Cruise once!), that I do not feel that way. I totally love DL and think of it as a "local vacation" and WDW as a true escape to Florida and new adventures! They are two very different venues and both are awesome :D :D :D

I grew up in So Cal and went to DL annually. Had my grad night at DL. We used to go with my cousins once a year and called it the Dinger-Murray Reunion and would tell all the relatives about the fun they missed.

Now I live in FL but still have family in SoCal. We are planning a trip to SoCal in July and the first thing we did was plan a day at DL.

We have been to WDW numerous times since moving to FL in 93 and some years have gone more than once. But we are still very excited about going to DL. My DD (17) has been to DCA and was not impressed with it. She said that there isn't enough to do to spend an entire day at DCA. She went with my mom, sister and neice and they visited both parks on the day they went.

At this point we are only planning on the DL visit unless we can get a good discount on a multipark ticket for the day.

We know there have been a lot of changes since we went in 99 so we want to check out the DTD in SoCal and maybe check out the hotels.

I was raised in the SF area and lived there until 2 years ago. Now, in my mid 30's I live in Phoenix. I was raised on Disneyland. I have been there probably 100 times. I've been to DCA 10 times.
It wasn't until 1997 that I finally got to go to WDW, and I loved it! I went back each of the following 4 years.

There is no question in my mind that Disneyland is far better than the Magic Kingdom at WDW. In a post on another board, I said that most of the attractions that got their start at DL and opened at WDW later are much better than the Florida versions;
It's A Small World (It's all about the facade and the music)
Pirates of the Carribbean (Longer and much better)
Peter Pan's Flight ('83 rehab did wonders)
Haunted Mansion (both buildings are cool, DL ride is longer)
Enchanted Tiki Room (but the new one at MK is pretty cool too)

As far as I am concerned, the only exceptions are;
Splash Mountain (seems more in at MK and I don't know why)
Big Thunder (much more scenic & better at night)
Cinderella Castle (Bigger and a touch nicer at MK)
Jungle Cruise (toss up here but I like the tunnel)
Tomorrowland ('95 rehab did wonders, DL's didn't come close)

All that being said, I love the MK as well as Disneyland. It's a much larger park and it does have it's own cool things. And WDW is a much better vacation destination. It's become a pilgramage for me. You just can't compare the "resort" aspect of Disneyland to the Vacation Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Epcot is my favorite park there. I have done almost everything at WDW and can't wait to go back to do even more.

Everyone should at some point make the pilgramage to WDW. And don't worry, your love for Disneyland will not change.

The same goes for Disneyland.:p

I grew up in So Cal so I was at the park as often as I could.
Now I am in Co and miss Mickey dearly . I still make it to see him at least once a year . I never even thing of going to any
other park I love every thing about DL. Your not strange your just one of us.
