Am I the only one who does not want Stitch to open?

I know...it sounds bad... but I want to go on CoP 1 more time. my DH has never been on it. It's just sooooo nostalgic, with Walt's voice and all. I've never even seen the Timekeeper. So although I know you all are awaiting Stitch... I hope it opens after my trip! Or maybe during the trip so I can get the best of both worlds!
But if it opens sooner, I'll be happy for all of you waiting!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Stitch won't interfere with Carousel of Progress in any way shape or form. It is replacing the Alien attraction. Enjoy them both.

Yes, but COP is also "seasonal", which means it's not always open. It's been open every day lately because Stitch is not open yet, and there's a good chance that once Stitch opens, COP will not be as available.

So ... it will interfere with COP, from a schedule standpoint.

I'm guessing it is a cost to operate issue, maintenance, and/or low-use by visitors (relative to other attractions). Can anyone elaborate?

Yikes never thought of that. That would be bad. COP open = good. COP closed = bad.

Also, Walt's voice is not used in CoP. Make sure you ride the Skyway, however. You never know when they might decide to close that ride down.

Skyway? Do you mean the Tomorrowland Transit? If they close that I will revoke my mouse ears.

No not the People Mover....the Skyway. The thing that takes you in a gondola on a wire from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland (and back, if you get in line again, are just lucky or slip the CM $50).

I agree completely...I have felt from the beginning that when Stitch opens, CoP will close permanently. That will be a sad day.

You are kidding, of course. You must know that Skyway has been closed for years! If this was a post done with tongue in cheek you need to make that clear. Sarcasm only works if people know it is sarcasm!

I feel the same way! I keep hoping the opening is delayed, so I can go on CoP again.

CoP one of my favorites, too. It closes seasonally. Fodor's indicates it's not open during the fall, but I'm hoping they're wrong.

I don't imagine they'll ever do away with it--it's an original World's Fair exhibit from the 60's, I believe. Walt designed or had a hand in designing that himself.

CoP is seasonal. it was closed in September 2002 when I was there, but was open this past June. It closes for Fall/Winter and opens up for Spring Break & Summer crowds.

We've missed out on CoP on our last few trips, but we were there last week and it was open because of the Stitch construction. We sat through it multiple times out of fear that we would never get to see it again. Unfortunately, it was pretty empty, with approximately 10-15 people in each show (of course, MK as a whole was pretty empty last week). It would be tragic if CoP is closed, given what it represents about Walt and his vision. Even if WDW has to operate CoP at a loss, this is one attraction that should never close.

Nor sure what you meant by sarcasm...

The Skyway has been open for some time now. Sure it was closed down for a short while, but reopened early this year when they did the Adventures of Mr. Toad refurb.

wdwoldtimer - Are you talking about Disney Land? There is no Skyway OR Mr. Toad's at Disney World. You must have your parks confused!

Based on his nick I think WDWOldtimer has pulled a fast one...

wdwoldtimer posts this on many threads. It's a joke. She also suggests doing 20,000 League's submarine ride on some threads.

Sorry, but Skyway is NOT OPEN. We've been in MK lately on a weekly basis & it is blocked off for construction. Not sure what, though.

COP has been open every time we have been there lately, & we always ride it. After all, with Small World down for an extended rehab, what better song to have running through my head than "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow....." :teeth:

WARNING please step away from the post, sarcasm may be coming soon.
do not gather up your panties and put them in a bunch or take the small following post by the hand as you exit the thread........

about the skyway being open. it has recently been detoured to MGM, new routing for it and the monorail, it hangs off a wire under the mono tracks. they had routed it to Ak but the lions kept leaping up and grabbing the passengers feet.

was that better???JUST JOKING
