Am I the only one more excited about Pandora than Star Wars land?

I'm so excited for Pandora! Avatar is easily one of my favourite films. DH is more interested in Star Wars though, except I haven't seen any so...

I'm over the moon about all three expansions. Done right they could all be spectacular in their own way for their own targeted demographics. While I am only a moderate fan compared to others on the dis (though I'm certainly considered a crazy fan by people in the real world) and therefore have less information upon which to base my opinion, my very favorite thing about WDW since I was a very small child back in the 70's/80's has always been the immersive experience and assault on the senses. All three new lands offer a huge opportunity to push the limits on that in different ways.

this is pretty much how i am..im excited for all three expansions because they re new experiences....im excited for Pandora and Star Wars because they really seem to be unique experiences especially Pandora
one of the great things about Diagon Alley is you really feel inclosed into the world because the building are so big and you cant see anything outside of the land....Pandora will be this times 10

I would have to agree with you. I think the hype surrounding the questions around what was going in HS has pushed Pandora to the side but we have to remember that Pandora will most likely be the first to open. Not only will it transform Animal Kingdom into a new park, it will alleviate some of the crowd that surround the very few rides/attractions in the park. I believe it will allow the park to open up more, and not feel so much as getting lost in a jungle as it so often does for a lot of people. Besides, it looks absolutely amazing! I think that even though Disney has gave us these great additions for the future, we should all be most excited for the one coming soon!

True, not a lot of people talk about Avatar. But a huge number of people internalized it, so what they got from the movie was a personal experience for them, and not something they would talk much about. I'd like to compare some of the reactions to the movie as almost in line with a spiritual or religious connection, more than just an action movie on another world.

REALLY?!? Internalized it? Personal religious experience? This for something that no one talks about?

Star Wars is my favourite film of all time, whereas I really dislike Avatar. However I expect Avatar Land to blow Star Wars Land out of the water. I actually expect AK to be the all round best park in WDW once it opens.
interesting what do you base this on? im also really excited about this project and think it has huge potential

Not speaking for Letterhead, and I certainly wouldn't say 'blow out of the water', but I do think Avatar might be a better overall experience. Star Wars will be a self-contained world in a theme-park of other self-contained worlds. Once you walk out of that land and into the Toy Story area, all illusion is gone. If done right, Avatar, by the nature of the park it's in, will flow more seamlessly into the area around it.

i think for me this goes back to is the IP adaptable to a themed experience
i think whether you liked the movie or not Avatar is a perfect IP for becoming a theme park land
the only problem i ve had with star wars is what land do you build with so many choices and none of those are aesthetically pleasing.. i think disney went the right route and created a new land for the park
star wars will be more popular but it certainly doesnt mean it will be the better land of the two

by the way go to disney and more to check out what i think are the best pictures of the model

I'm not excited about pandora itself but I am very excited for how it's transforming more of the park for late evenings now. We rarely go to animal kingdom or don't stay long because it's just too hot there for us.

Considering how many star wars and avatar fans that aren't disney fans there are, it should be really interesting on the crowds when these start to open.

I'm a nerd and like all things nerdy/geek related. I'm also an artist, though. I grew up with SW and it has a geek cult following that I will always enjoy; I loved Avatar and thought the movie was gloriously beautiful in every way.

AK is my favorite park (tied with Epcot, actually) and I, too, feel as if Pandora will fit in perfectly. I'm excited for SW land also, but probably more excited for Pandora :o

I still don't understand Disney building a whole land about a property they don't own...

They don't? :)

I am completely *meh* about Pandora - "whatever." I still don't understand Disney building a whole land about a property they don't own
Well Disney built star tours before they owned Star Wars.

And they even slapped the name of a rival movie studio they didn't own on a whole theme park and filled that park with other attractions over the years based on IP they didn't own (Star Tours as you mentioned, Twilight Zone, Indiana Jones, many of the Great Movie Ride scenes, a rock band, etc).

Yea it might not surpass MK for us, or our wonderful WS evenings-but Rivers of Light along with Pandora and night safaris as well as EE at night will put at least 2 nights each trip at AK. We never did more than one morning there in the past. Hoping some new dining and drinks open as well.

this will definitely change the way we tour DAK and i ve got to think many people will be excited to tour at night here
honestly i see this as being a game changer for WDW in terms of crowd distribution and growth

I was pretty much thinking the same thing. Bar the terrible dinosaur addition around Primeval Whirl, Animal Kingdom is up there with DisneySea as the best executed overall theme for a park.

I may be in the minority, but I do not need a "backstory" or "IP" to determine if an attraction is, or will be great. I have not seen the entire Avatar movie, and I have seen only the first 3 Star Wars from years ago, but that doesn't matter. Make the attraction/land so that I can break away from reality for a little while and be entertained. Put me in awe and make we want to come back over and over again. The artwork and descriptions sound good, but the proof will be when it is actually open and I can experience and judge the "magic" for myself.
