I've stumbled into several threads today that I thought were legit only to feel like I fell into a secret code of some kind.

I think I'll have another cup of coffee and slowly back away from the DIS Community board for an hour or so and see if things clear up for me!

there are threads here that are an insiders insider thread. I don't get them. I don't know everybody's secret alter ego. I don't know what all the inside jokes are. I just avoid them although at times I wish I was an insider.

You are definitely not alone. My biggest mistakes here are usually posting on threads where I'm interested in the subject......and forget to look at WHO the posters are. It's unreal how many private joke threads there are here and very easy to get in the middle of one....
for all I know I'm posting to one now and I'll have to back away slowly. LOL

Well, this doesn't have anything to do w/ the threads (although, I have been confused on those as well!), but when I was reading your owl thread and saw the new picture, I didn't realize what I was seeing. I thought it was flying through the air or something!! Everyone was talking about it looking mad and the eyes..I had no clue at all!!

Finally, I went back and looked again and saw it the right way. I was so shocked, I called my big boss (she's the only other person here now) over to show her. (She got it right away!)

I was feeling pretty silly about that one!

I have found myself in the middle of a private joke or a thread gone bad before. Now I try to review the first and last pages of a thread before I post, to make sure what I am going to say is not going to sound stupid.

But if you really need to know, DH would agree with me, that I am the most naive person in the world. I am going to need a drug-sniffing dog when the kids get a little older, because I wouldn't know what weed smelled like or looked like if there was a bag of it sitting on my desk.

That's because lately I think it has been worse than ever here.
You're feeling lost and clueless and I think that's maybe the goal of some of the private threads......not a big deal really but when ya get caught up in one unintentionally it's just weird.

It took me a long time to figure out that there are groups that will start a thread here and then it carries over into other websites. I just stick to the threads that I am sure about so that I don't make a fool of myself. And yes...it is getting worse.
