Am I seeing this correctly? Re: The new GFV?

I got the mailer from DVC today with the floor plans of the new GFV...unless I am completely reading the floor plans wrong, they did not put the additional bathrooms into the 1-2 BR villas like AKV Kidani and BLT have! The extra bathroom is a huge reason why I choose to stay at AKV Kidani frequently, the added bonus was just something I assumed would become standard in all the new DVC properties going forward!

I guess I am just surprised at this, especially with GF being pretty much the most prestigious property Disney has. I would have thought they pulled out all the stops for those villas. I was apparently wrong!

I did notice that the studios there will sleep 5 with the new pull down bunk type bed.

I agree that the lack of the extra bathroom is a big minus for VGF. It is odd that the VGF studios have 2 showers and the 1 bedrooms at VGF only have 1 shower. I may change my mind someday but at this point I prefer BLT for MK centered trips because we always book 1 bedrooms.

Hmmm, so maybe it might be worth it to try the studios then...I would try that over the 1 BR because the extra bathroom to get ready in the mornings (especially when you have five in the room!) is HUGE. I'm a huge Poly fan so I am hoping they don't do this for those villas, I am hoping they go back to the extra bathrooms in the 1-2 BR units!

I have two teenage boys. I only book rooms with two bathrooms. Two bedrooms at most, one bed rooms at BLT and Kidani. With the points being so high at GFV for a two bedroom, I don't have any desire to buy points there.

The guiodes were asked about this when we were touring and they said it was determined based on guest feedback that people preferred more living and sleeping space to an additional bathroom and so that was the decision made. I would guess that the plan going forward is no extra bathroom unless they get a ton of comments about this.

Oh wow, I guess I'm surprised that the feedback about having the additional bathroom was less than great. All the families that I know who have DVC LOVE having the additional bathroom, especially if you have 4-5 people in the room. We have always stayed with at least 4 of us, sometimes 5, and we always go for the additional bathroom because the one time we didn't, we had 5 of us in a 1 BR BWV and it took us a couple hours for everyone to get showered and ready in the morning. It was SO much easier when we moved to AKV Kidani in their one bedroom!

Guess we'll see!

Like I said this is what was quoted to us by the guides when we were touring (although the shower in the 1 bedroom is actually in a separate room off the foyer than the bathroom) - so 1 person could shower and someone else could be using the sink and mirror at the same time. At the same time we were also told quite a bit of misinformation about other DVCs including which ones had the sleeper chairs, 2 bathrooms in the 1 bedroom, which resorts had dedicated 2 bedrooms and other such items.

Their homework should be to read up on the DIS. I was surprised, when I spoke to my guide, how little she reads the DIS forums. Maybe TMI!

I've found this to be the fasted form of communication, with a little weeding to sort out rumor from facts.

And I'm guessing this is a lot of the reason, people bought fewer points for a 1BR instead of 2BR.

Are the floor plans anywhere officially on line?

Yes, they are available on the DVC Member website. Under the Destinations tab, select VGF. Once the VGF page loads, you can select 'Rooms and Points', which shows you the different accommodations and floor plans.

Thanks! I didn't look hard enough before!;)

Well then this just seals that we will never be staying there (at least in the next 5ish years)! We need that extra bathroom in the 1 bedroom. DD has slept in her PnP in the extra bathroom at both BLT and AKV. I figure baby #2 will do the same for the first couple years as well.

The VGF rooms look so pretty though!

I am surprised about the bathroom setup. The two bathrooms at Kidani and BLT are so convenient for families.

One bathroom isn't enough for 5 or even 4 people.

I never buy those bogus "feedback" claims mentioned by sales persons. I am unaware of any survey done to gain such feedback on number of bathrooms and if there were such a survey someone on these boards would likely have been contacted and reported it. Large numbers of members don't just wake up one morning and decide, "Hey, I going to call DVD and let them know I prefer more space in the 1BR rather than the extra bathroom," so such "feedback" did not occur via that method and, if it actually exists, there would have been a real survey to determine it.

Moreover as far as space goes, the VGF 1BRs are going to be 50 sq ft larger than BLT or AKV and thus could easily have included another bathroom and still be more spacious than AKV or BLT. My guess is that it really was a cost decision.

Agreed; I don't think they really asked. It costs more money to put an additional bathroom in and as Disney was planning they probably knew that people would flock to this resort despite being inconvenienced by having one less bathroom in the villa. They spend less and yet they make more money. Brilliant on their part; disappointing for those who have larger families.......

Agreed, my husband and I thought it was a cost decision as well. It is just cheaper to not have the additional bathroom. What good is the extra space (and I thought the 1-2 BR in Kidani were huge in living space as it is!) if you can't fit any more people in it than the other resorts anyway? 2 bathrooms is huge, for now with m kids being little I can get away with 1 bathroom, but when my 2 girls are older, forget about it! 2 older girls?? We definitely need 2 bathrooms! LOL
