Am I seeing this correctly? Re: The new GFV?

This, to me, is the kicker about the cost issue. If Disney really cut the extra bathroom from the 1 bedroom because of cost, why did they ADD a second shower to the studio? Wouldn't the same cost decision apply there too?

My only guess is that they don't think families of 5 will really "downgrade" from a BLT / Kidani one bedroom to a VGF studio. Sure, with two showers and the Murphy bed, it looks like the studio will be a good value for a family of 5. But don't forget that the room itself is smaller than other DVC studios, and that extra shower takes up a lot of space. Plus, with the Murphy bed, now there's no clothing storage. So, while a VGF studio looks good on paper, my feeling is that once people see the studio & how small it is, they won't try to cram a family of 5 in there.

They are adding drawers under the bed to make up for the lost storage in the TV unit/Murphy bed.

wonder where they got the feedback??:confused3

we absolutely love the extra bathroom at blt and kidani. it makes our trip so much more pleasant.:goodvibes

The lack of a second bathroom was the first thing I noticed when looking at the floor plans in the mailer. DH and I were both disappointed. We loved the set up at VGC, and this would make a difference as to wether we'd choose to stay at GFV.

Just because one does not read something on the DIS, does not mean it does not exist.

Okay, this comment made me LOL. Say it isn't so!!! ;)

We are a family of 4, we stay in 2 bedrooms, we LOVE the 3rd bath. Our kids each get their own bath, no one sleeps in the living room and we are so SPOILED!

My "kids" (DS20 & DD16) would much rather use our points every other year or every third year than give up "their" bedroom and bathroom space.

I too expected Disney to pull out all of the stops for the Grand Floridian and make it the premier resort. I am disappointed in the floor plan and doubt we will stay there but I am looking forward to seeing what is coming for the Poly! We won't buy more points though, we are good with our BLT contract for now.

Jim Lewis, the former head of DVD, can probably be credited with creating that member feedback excuse. Long time members who lived through all the years of Jim Lewis as the head of DVD can remember how he often started announcements of changes to the DVC program, such as for perks, with the phrase, "In response to our members' feedback, and in order to enhance the membership experience ...." That phrase was invariably followed by his telling us that he was taking something away such as a perk that members liked or raising prices on something. As many of us knew, whenever we heard him speak that phrase, we had to reach down and check for our wallets to make sure they were still there.
