Am I nuts? Constant checking of member site for availability.

Does anyone else do this? I feel like it is going to drive me bananas but I cant make myself stop I always seem to fill my waitlist before MS does.

We are going to WDW Nov 22-29 for Thanksgiving. We booked at SSR at 11 months and now I am piecing together a split stay at VWL and BCV. As of today I have VWL for the 22-26 and BCV from the 27-29. I have the 26th waitlisted at both resorts. I check the member site several times an hour and have been doing so since the 7 month window opened. Am I crazy?

The best/worst part is that every other day I do seem to get part of what I need (as an example. yesterday I was able to get the 2 nights at BCV ), validating my compulsive checking, so I am continuing to do it.

I am just wondering if I am the only obsessive compulsive owner that does this or are most of you more laid back?

I have never used the WL.
I only book on my own by checking the web-site as needed to get what I want.

It's not just you! I only use the WL during the 11m window, and only for certain rooms (BWV Standard view).

Stalking the website is really your best bet at getting what you want at 7months. This is the first year in a long time where we're staying put with our Thanksgiving reservation.... we were lucky to have bought where we love, and I got the reservations that I wanted before the 7m mark.

Thanks for the validation - I am glad I am not crazy, or if I am, I am not the only one! I do like SSR, but like to try new things and have not stayed there often. That being said, if I have to stay at SSR, I would not complain. If the 26th doesn't come through I will probably stay with the last 3 days at SSR as it makes so sense to me to go all the way over there and back to BCV for one day.

Best of luck to you! I was stalking the site for a while myself. I booked AK Kidani for Thanksgiving Day and the day after a few weeks ago after purchasing some points from another DVC member where that was their home resort. When I called at the time to make that reservation, I was told by DVC Members services there was still plenty of availability for a 2BR Savannah View for that week and I'd probably be fine booking the remaining nights later. We are also SSR DVC owners so had to wait until last week to book the remaining nights...Sunday thru Wednesday night.

I started stalking it last Monday...and noticed that Sun-Tue night were available in a 2BR SV at AK Kidani...but not Wednesday! I couldn't make the call to DVC until Wednesday morning and of COURSE I forgot all about it until Wednesday afternoon.

The same situation though...3 of my 4 needed nights were open. So I booked Sun-Tue and put a hold on Wednesday night. I emailed our group with the good/bad news. Hey we have a place to stay Sun-Tue night and then Thurs-Fri night of Thanksgiving week...and we were on hold for Wednesday.

I got an email SATURDAY from Disney about my upcoming trip...and I was confused? When I looked closer, it showed all 6 nights. I did NOT expect my WL to come through THAT fast for Thanksgiving week. Maybe AK Kidani it not very popular for Thanksgiving week?

Anyway hoping your day comes through soon as well. I knew I was chancing it only putting the ONE night on waitlist but it seems like it worked out for us.

Relatively newbie DVC owner (1 year) so I have stalked the waitlist just to try other resorts under the 7 month window. Glad I bought where I want to stay as I would not love doing it on a regular basis. I am a planner and don't like to gamble with my travel plans since I knew where I wanted to stay when I bought and reconfirmed after trying other DVC properties.

Thx Canadian Disney Mom. We however don't come in until the 24th at Disney (staying at Universal from the 21st). I do have the 24 and 25th booked for the grand villa, now just hoping i can pick up other days here and there and complete the week.

I had been stalking for BWVs in Oct. for months. I wanted to add onto my stay. Last weekend I got a one BR standard view! MS linked it to my existing ressie. I even got a lower air fare when I switched flights! Pixie dust all around!

That's been my experience, too. Sometimes I get nights while stalking. Sometimes I get nights on the waitlist.

Typically, my waitlist successes are 1-2 nights after accumulating several other nights via stalking.

This is my new strategy - combining stalking with wait listing. We have only had one waitlist ever come through! I never thought about that I could stalk the days myself while also on the wait list until I read a the other day!! Great strategy. So now have wait lists going plus have one day at the beginning and 3 days at the end of a week booked so now stalking for the 3 middle days of Thanksgiving week which I know will be hard but hopefully will be able to snag. Am doing same thing with another villa for BIL and his family. Crossing my fingers.
