Am I losing my mind?

Doesn't everybody obsess 24/7 and pack 6 mos before they leave? After Disney what is there? We go in July, was booked a month ago, it's cold and snowy here too, what else is there????

Isn't in nice to have something like a Disney vacation to look forward to? And to have some comfort in the quality of the accomodations. Have a wonderful trip.

Do you drive to Florida via Louisville, Nashville, Chatanooga, Atlanta and so on? I am fretting over the weather. A friend suggested the alternative route through Alabama and then OVER and down toward Orlando, but dh swears this would add way too many hours. How do you go, and do you have a backup route?

See you at WDW!

Have you tried www.mapquest.com to check on the number of hours? For alternative routes, you can do it in separate pieces and add them together. We nlive near Columbus, Ohio and avoid the I-75 route your talking about. Not fun through the mountains and a little dated. We actually go through the Carolinas and down I-95. You might have a great route on the west side of I-95 and Mapquest can help with the driving times. The part it doesn't tell you is when you hit rush hour traffic in a place like Atlanta.

Thanks, Captain Midnite. I'll check out Mapquest. We like the I-75 route OK but if the weather is bad those mountains will give me a panic attack. We are not morning people and usually go through Atlanta at 7 or 8 at night when traffic is minimal. But I am heading to Mapquest now!

We leave for HH in 2 weeks and we are doing the same thing. I have started a list of what to take. I have even started my grocery list. If you are like us, we start planning as soon as we get home from our last trip. We are already planning our WDW Sept trip. I looked at airfare today. Have a great trip!

So, feel validated enough yet? Think of this as proof that DVC was the best purchase you've ever made! As for me, I have all kinds of countdowns going - i really like the one on Tour Guide Mike... I think we are at 25 days...

I have such bad cabin fever it's pathetic.... however, the snow is finally melting and birds are singing..

and soon we will be basking in the warmth enjoying our verandah rights! (I wonder if those should be on Doc's most frequent questions list...)

We're planning on the Louisville/Nashville/Atlanta route... Hadn't really considered any other options yet. We drive through the night taking turns - if you think Atlanta is smooth at 7pm try 3am! Ha!

Anyway, thanks for asking - I'll have to watch the weather as it gets closer. I wouldn't want to do some of those hills in Tennessee in the snow...

Indyscott, my friend's route goes down to Nashville but then doesn't turn east toward Chatanooga. You go down to Birmingham then over to Florida (panhandle). It was less than 100 miles longer. I would not consider this route except for weather. If Chatanooga area was in a snowstorm and we'd be slow anyhow, the Alabama route would be better. You can see on the map that the real mountains in TN are over on the east end of the state. Those hills give me stress even in GOOD weather... You can plot this all on Mapquest as posters here advised.

Let's just hope for a thaw in the next few days...
