OK, hopefully this drew attention to someone who has plenty of experience making these iron on t shirts. This is my first attempt and I dont have a ton of time since we are leaving in a week and I want to get the majority of them done tonight while I have the help of my mom!

OK this is how I understand how these shirts need made, if I am wrong somewhere, please correct me.

1. Washed all shirts
2. print out all transfers on reg paper and make sure they will fit/look good etc.
3. For dark transfers:
*print these normally, no flipping or window.
*Of course using the best setting possible.
4. For light transfers:
*when printing these, use the window option when printing.
**Dark transfers will show white around them, which where needed you can cut off. These are good for any color shirt, but mainly used for darker shirts.
**Light transfers will show the color of the shirt where there would be white. I plan to only use these with white shirts.
5. Plan to let the transfers set a few hours.
6. Use a hard surface with a pillow case under shirt. Iron shirt and have the area you want the transfer ironed and centered. For adults measure down abour 5 inchest from bottom of neck and for kids 2-3 inches.
7. Make sure to wash iron, using no steam and set on cotton setting.
8. For Dark transfers, you peel the paper off of the back and place the transfer on the shirt just how you would like to see it, image facing up. Then place the ironing paper over entire image and iron over it for about 3 minutes for a full sheet , 2 min 1/2 sheet, etc.
9. For light transfers you will position the transfer face down on the shirt. Iron over the back of the paper and the time is about the same with these.
10. With each type of transfer you will let the garmet cool completely (2min or so) and begin removing the paper backing or tissue paper, slowly.
*if it is sticking, iron a little longer and try again.
11. According to Avery transfers, it says it is best to wash the garmet inside out seperatly on cold before wearing. Make sure to promply remove from wash and tumble dry on low, maybe adding a towel to the dryer.

Is there anything I missed? Im getting ready to start printing now, so if there is something I need to do differently, PLEASE let me know asap!

Thanks so much, yoy guys are so great on here!

Ok plz someone. Ive read all the links and directions posted, I just want to make sure that I understand it...in my own words. If someone would please just look over it and see if Im missing something. OR if you just want to give a few tips to make sure your shirts come out good. Thanks!

Sounds like you have the steps down .. Just be sure to use pressure when ironing. let transfer cool before removing parchment paper.

Have Fun ..Looking forward to seeing pics :)

I do not know a lot about Avery transfers and how they hold up to wash - but I would wait to wash them again after your you return from your trip. That way they will look crisp and fresh for your trip.

Also, be sure when you prewash your tshirts - do NOT to use fabric softner or dryer sheets.

Thank you both of you for replying. I got most of them done tonight. They were so much easier than I thought they were going to be. I liked working with the dark transfers, but I got a hanf of the light ones too.
I love the shirts, I think they look great and will post picts as soon as I figure out how to post them. I have about 8-9 shirts left to do and hope to do them tomorrow evening.
Now, about this washing after them being made thing. Does anyone know for sure what to do with the Avery ones? It said on the directions to wash and tumble dry before wearing. It would be nice to hear from ppl with experience with this. What did you do? Did that work for you? Did anyone get ones than ran in the wash or rain? I hope they dont run, they look real nice!
Thanks to all those who helped my out along the way.

I wish I had the answer to the question for you.

What do you mean by:

4. For light transfers:
*when printing these, use the window option when printing.

What is a window option? You mean a specific setting in the printer settings?

It sounds like your shirts turned out great!

I would hold off on washing prior to your trip because sometimes the transfers wrinkle or they start to wear off with washing. All of my shirts have held up great through our trips and through washing in the beginning. My shirts from last October's trip are showing wear and tear now since my kids have been wearing them all summer.
