transportation in WDW.
Bus vs Car

We have only been to WDW once as a family in 02.
Stayed at ASM.
We drove to the parks and thought it was fine.
I am planning a return trip real soon.
For those that have done both, I would like your opinions on what you prefer.

Myself I am a car guy, I rather drive than take public transportation any day of the week.
Maybe its a control thing
Maybe its a I rather not be close to other people more than I have to, thing

But I am open to suggestions, are there certain parks/desinations where the bus is clearly easier/better.

:confused3

I personally like their transportation. If for no other reason, I usually like returning to rest a bit (rest of family can stay in the parks from dusk to dawn - not me) and if I drive it becomes more complicated.

We live in Central Florida, so WDW is just a hop skip and a jump away. However, this past summer, we stayed on property 4 different weekends. This was our 1st time traveling with an infant. We found it much easier to drive our own car. With carrying all the stuff we had for the baby, it was just easier. At Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and MGM, DH walked from our parking space into the park pushing the stroller, so we didn't have to carry the infant carrier and the stroller on the tram. At MK he dropped me off at guest drop off, then parked and met me at the TTC.
Now that baby is 6 months old and can easily sit in the stroller without the infant carrier, we use Disney transportation with no problem. When we bought a stroller, we made sure it was light weight and would fold easily to get on the tram or bus.
But given the choice, we'd prefer our own transportation simply because it is faster! (It took me an hour and a half to get from Epcot to the Contemporary by monorail.)

I, personally like disney transportation. Sometimes, it may take you a little longer but if you think about having to trek out to your car, find it, cool it down, drive to your destination and then walk from the parking lots (which can be a pretty good trek in themselves), it can really be worth the money you can save to just use thier transportation. When we used to get a rental car, we found we rarely even drove it! However, with all that said, it is really a personal opinion. If you would prefer a car, then I think that is the way to go! Hope ya'll have a great 2nd family trip!!!

We've done both and prefer driving. It's nice not to stand around waiting for a bus when you're tired and hot, and then possibly have to stand on that bus. Everything is so well marked at WDW, and we find it very easy to get around.

We love disney transportation. Especially after a long day, you can get on a disbus and relax until you get to your hotel. It has always been reliable in my experience and just more convenient for us.

Thanks CC

Although the cost factor is not a factor for me as we usually drive and have our own car there.

But it did ring a bell that the only place that I said to myself "maybe we should have drove" was MK.

Sorry
I meant to type "maybe we should have taken the bus"
if reference to MK.

We like taking the bus to the MK so that we don't have to deal with the TTC/monorail. However, if there is ever a need to be some place at a certain time... we take the car.
Epcot - we usually drive.
MGM - just depends on how early we have to be there...
AK - We usually take the bus, especially for EE.

We love taking the WDW transportation. :) My DH drives all over the state everyday. We now only vacation at locations where we can use their transportation or walk. He says that's the only way he feels like he's truly on vacation. :sunny:

I have done both and really prefer to drive , not just because I don't like to wait for a bus but because it gives your group more flexibility say one or two want to leave and the others don't but want to come back later just let one take the car and the other will take bus especially handy if one wants just to go back to resort for a change of clothes or whatever
Also with us we have young ones 21 mos to 7 yrs and just
I know our little ones just cant wait sometimes

We don't care for the buses so we usually take the car. It just seems faster and more convenient. The only exception to this is if we are staying at an EPCOT resort and want to go to the MK then we will take the bus becuase it is so much faster than dealing with parking, then waiting for a tram, then waiting for the monorail, etc.

We always use the transportation. Its just easier to us after going all the time in the parks, the last thing I want to do is drive from the lot to the resort. We drove last time and thats what ended up happening my father gave me the keys and said he was too tired. Maybe if it was a few years ago when i first could drive i would have been excited, after always driving though... it lost his touch. Plus sometimes the roads get a little confusing. I have the direction of a wet rock though, it may be easier for you.

We usually fly into Orlando and rent a car. We always seem to discuss taking Disney transportation to Parks from hotel but driving is so easy that is usually the way we go for us. I just like to be able to walk out of a Park and not wait in sometimes very long lines for Disney transportation.
